I think the only way to stop the niners running all over us is to run all over them. This is unlikely given their stout rushing defense and our recent struggles, but I don't see another outcome that I want to entertain, so let's run with it! Vision: K9 goes over 120 and 2 TDs.

If Waldron was saving any tricks up his sleeve, now is the time. Vision: something tricky happens and it works!

Defense, please just do everything you possibly can to make Purdy win the game. I don't even care if we lose so much as long as we lose in a different way. Vision: Purdy looks like Mr. Irrelevant.

This week, I have a little more modest goals...

1) Keep Christian McCafferty under 120 total yards

2) Hold the 49ers to less than 150 team rushing yards

3) 0 Geno Smith turnovers

Bonus

4) Coby Bryant gets another punch-out fumble

5) The crowd is Really in to the game and nobody leaves early

The only vision I get is of Cross and Lucas honoring their former coach and absolutely stonewalling the entire SF DL. Hey coach, watch, your guys are outstanding run blockers too.

Kenneth I'm still reflecting on the excellent mock draft scenarios you published a few days back. Have an add'l wrinkle to ask your opinion on.

If they are able to get Carter with their 1st pick, what about John Michael Schmitz at 17-18 (don't think he makes it to 33). Would a strong bull of a center with great reach blocking skills help your guard play as well? In other words, if you have the book end tackles and a strong center, can your guards be sorta "plug and play"? So down the road you're spending on your tackles and center, and your guards can be lower-paid good-but-not-great guys?

a Stud C is a priority but there are 4-5 totally bad azzed ones in this up coming draft. There is not likely going to be a run on them so John Schneider (who Loves to get value at positions of strength in a draft) will likely get one with the later 2nd or even trade up in the 3rd (or late 2nd) to get that Stud C we are calling for.

Ah didn’t realize that. Thought Schmitz was the clear #1 potential pro bowler.

Seattle is a 3 point underdog at home which actually makes them a 6 point underdog considering home field advantage. So here we are again. The "no chance" Seahawks take the field Thursday night with a bar set so low you could trip over it. I have seen predictions of them not winning another game this year. Al Woods playing doesn't sound promising and of course SF's defense is taking no prisoners. Seattle is going to need a number of breaks to come their way. Turnovers. A short field and no shooting themselves in the foot. It sounds like Seattle could get taken to the woodshed tomorrow night on national TV.

Now for an unprobable look at the glass half full. This could be Seattle's SB. Strange things happen to SF when they play in Seattle. The one run K9 had in the Rams game looked real promising after a flat two games prior. Of course he got hurt on that tote. Geno is still putting points on the board and just maybe he takes the week off on turnovers. Will Seattle stop the run in this Meta Verse. Probably not, but if they can make the big plays in the Redzone limiting points to 3's instead of 7 who knows. SF has a Philly game with the other WASH mojo working. Tyler always has big games against SF. Seattle sells out against the run and the secondary has a big game. Purdy's Cinderella slipper gets scuffed up. Abram gets more snaps and does what he does best. Hit people in the running game.

There has to be a lingering thought in the back of Kyle's mind. Trap game. (Seattle didn't forget the 27-3 spanking by the bay)

Geno needs to get rid of the ball quicker and Walden needs to work on "Matriculating" that ball down the field to compensate for the PR. Lull them then take your shots. The running game does just enough. ST makes a big play.

Sometimes the most likely outcome doesn't happen. Divisional games are just that way.

Go Hawks!

Love the Hank Stramm 'matriculating' quote - yes, hopefully the O-line holds long enough for that to take place...

I remember that amazing Monday night in 2019 where a mediocre Seahawks (despite their 7-2 record) beat in a thrilling overtime the undefeated 49ers, with a performance to remember by Jadeveon Clowney, in what many deemed the game of the year.

2019 was a good year, as Lockett also got the most fantastic catch I’ve ever seen live against the Rams in a 1 point victory. And we made to the divisional round after a 2 year hiatus and the last time we did so. It was the last time for many things as we faced a worldwide pandemic as soon as the season ended.

That game against the Niners was a bright spot in a year where our defense was kinda bad. I don’t remember it, and game data may be wrong, but I see here that Duane Brown took defensive snaps.

My vision is, like in 2019, a lone bright showing for the defense against the 49ers. And like in 2019, we win the game, even if — like in 2019 — we have to wait for the last moments of overtime.

In fairness to the NFL (five words I never thought I’d write), drafting GMs have to project the equivalent of the major league success of AA baseball talent. This is *really* hard to do. Remember Jesus Montero? He was supposedly can’t-miss as a hitter--the only question about him was whether he could play catcher. If you don’t recall Jesus, there’s a reason why. If you do, you remember a guy who close to inept as a hitter. NFL GMs have to sort out the Monteros of NCAA football without benefit of a farm system. And that’s the last time I will sympathize with NFL GMs!

Vince Young! Seahawks-Rams in Week 11 2011 is what sold me. I was visiting a relative in St Louis and we went to the game. For the first time, I could see what Pete Carroll was trying to do, and I liked it. A rookie LB--#50--was all over the field and had me reaching for my program early on to see who he was. I’ve been a KJ Wright fan ever since.

Just win, baby!!!

It is incredibly unlikely the Seahawks will pull it all together on Thursday but Stranger Things have happened. And many of those strange things have happened in Seattle! A certain NFCCG comes to mind.

In order for the Seahawks to win they will need to have a running game--I hope it is KW3 healthy and hungry who sparks it. The TE room will have to have a big day too--lots of hot routes to counter the SF pressure.

And then somehow the D needs to get it together and neutralize CMC and make Purdy have to beat them. I envision another Tariq to the house pick 6!

I just can’t come up with any positive thoughts about the Hawks chances to win this week. If they somehow… nothing comes to mind

I only have nightmares about this game. It is possible my nightmares would be lethal to less mentally balanced people than myself, so I will keep them to myself. I don't want anyone jumping off a cliff or turning into a vegetable.

Is it even remotely possible we could win? No, I don't think so. I suppose it is not IMpOsible for us to win, but with a 3.5 point spread I am almost jumping out of my seat to take that bet. If I lived in Nevada, or close to a casino, I'd put my food money into that bet.

Let's make a monopoly bet. Who will cover my million dollar bet on SF?

I’m a “reformed” gambler and I considered asking my wife if she’d mind if I took a mere $100 out of our savings -and if we lost it, it would be SO worth the measly hundred bucks to us if we beat the 49ers! But then I remembered that would be a terrible idea.

I win the monopoly money! This game was about exactly what the average nightmare I had came out.

If I was the OC and calling the plays, I would have passed to Metcalf about 25 times. The defense did OK, considering.
