“Has Jason Myers simply missed the field goal, or it was blocked and immediately downed…”

Mike Lombardi ascribed the block to inexperienced coaching. He pointed out that when a player of Simmons’ size lines up in the A gap, it’s to jump, not bull rush. Had Harbaugh etc put two and two together, they would have changed the blocking assignment accordingly. Lombardi implied that this was one of those things that come with new coaches and that it’s unlikely to happen again.

It seems like most teams are experiencing a terrible start to the season having to deal with injuries, most notably in our division. The Seahawks have been weathering the storm fairly well, still in 1st place. I am really looking forward to the Bills game as another barometer for where we stand. This being the 1st year for so many parts of this team I am just enjoying the process.

It would be nice, someday, if the Hawks would release a rundown on what Lucas has going on, more detailed than "a knee." More mystery than usual with him. We heard much more detail about Adams, for example....

My first reaction when I saw the title was “which season?”. Honestly if Lucas makes it back, great, but the team has to be prepared for him to not play this season. Jerrell was a pleasant surprise last week.

Lucas has been activated from IR, so his 21-day window has started. This would indicate the team has expectations of a return.

Can't wait to see Abe Lucas at 100%. Let's realize we probably haven't seen that yet. If the knee was deteriorating ('chronic'), he'd not play again. That would be immoral and certainly a huge monetary settlement-in-waiting. I suspect Coach Mack is using "injury" as a tool to get new guys playing and letting lesser aches and pains heal properly. He continues to be dismissive/evasive when asked about them. Gone are the days when 'manhood' was measured in showing how they can play through the pain. 18 weeks is a damn tough slog. The men themselves will downplay injury as the Chase gets close, as we saw with Detroit's center Ragnow and KC's Mahomes last year. Every one of us has had to do it at some point in our lives. Glad to see them both back this year.

I was worried when Cam Ward announced he'd be going back to school this year that he'd end up out of our grasp and ... yeah. He's my locked in #1 through the first couple of months. The depth in this QB class doesn't look great so far, though, to my eyes at least.

Quinn Ewers looked great before he got hurt. He will drop due to not playing but he might be the best of the bunch.

I'm not sure there's a single college QB playing well enough to deserve to be a top-5 draft pick. I'd say Sanders and Ward are the closest and they'll both probably be top-3 picks by the end of the season even though they might not be that good. Anyone who trades up for one of those guys is probably going to end up disappointed.

Aaaaaaand now no Grayson McCall. He just announced his retirement from football today due to concussions. While I was looking forward to discussing him as a QB possibility, I applaud him realizing that brain damage is a real possibility when looking at multiple concussions, and that the rest of his life is more important than football.

I seem to mention Quinn Ewers at least once a week. I'm genuinely hugely impressed by the UT QB. Injury concerns i get, but for me he's more than worth a punt on Day 2. No-one this year, last year, next year, has anything close to the release of Ewers. He so seriously reminds me of AR12 in his movements and processing.

For all some of us will knock SDB (Seahawks Draft Blog), Rob does do a good job week in week out of covering the key points and overall his evaluations are quite good. I'll flick through semi-regularly. Just my advice is to avoid the comments section, especially if you even breathe an alterntive concept.

I'm not looking at the 2026 class, because it's too far away to make any judgment calls. I really want the 'Hawks to go QB this year whilst we still have Geno as a mentor and primary starter. Give our new guy the best chance to learn and get up to pace risk free alongside Howell, setting up nicely for 2026 without feeling pressured in FA, Renewals or the Draft.

For some reason I had the impression that Coby Bryant wasn't seeing the field as much as Wallace (until last week), but after looking up their snap counts for comparison it looks pretty even both on D and ST. I was curious if there were some rhyme or reason to how they are deployed, but it looks like the answer is no (accompanied by a shoulder shrug).

What snap counts are you seeing? Coby Bryant played a lot less than Wallace before last week, you were originally right.

Never mind. I was looking at season total snap counts. They are only about equal after Coby played the entire Atlanta game.

It'll be interesting to see, if Coby plays well over the next few weeks, if maybe he'll get more D snaps than Wallace in the second half of the season.

And we got another trade. Someone who can tackle cleanly.

Murphy at RB is too good to leave in the deck on crucial 4th and short. A Beast Card. I could actually summon some sympathy for the guys trying to stop it. MacD and Crew has, or will have, a whole arsenal of surprises as the Super Bowl approaches. I am good with "finding who we are" right now.

Lucas my un-optimistic take Lucas’s knee is likely as good as it is ever going to be. So the Seahawk’s activated him to see if he can play. If he can’t then that is likely the last we see of John. I could not figure out how a player as talented as Lucas made it to the third round - answer a lot of teams did not have him on their boards because of medical reasons.

Such Great news that both Lucas and Fant are to be in the window now! Jerrell looked pretty good for most of the game and at least that one game was an upgrade over Forsyth. Maybe a guy for the future! What they truly need is to get some decent guard play so they can start to run the ball ,like they need too!
