We'll need Woolen on Sunday to have his best game of the year. I hope the young man has his head into the game on every snap. Minnesota's WR's and TE's are going to be a handful.

Watching Broncos and Chargers. Would love to know why we get called twice for DPI and Chargers didn’t for exact same defender behind Receiver play? I don’t want the stinking Broncos to win but inconsistent.

One thing about Geno. Strong guy. Sunday night sounds like he’s out for a bit. Here is back fully preparing before end of week. Also seeing Walker healthy, with Charbo not doing well. Dump off to K9 for a big TD be nice Sunday.

AS I have said earlier, I've watched four Vikes games this year and IF the Hawks can have just an average run game that they can continue to use through out the game They have a very good shot to win this game. That is if the D comes to play! GO HAWKS!!!

“Seahawks fans who think the team is “as good” or “better” than expected had a 2:1 advantage over fans who think Seattle is underachieving…”

FWIW, my take is that the ‘Hawks are 8-6 because the defense has improved more than the offense has regressed.

No matter how it ends, at this point, I'm prepared to call this a successful season when judged from my preseason expectations. Their biggest move, hiring Mike Macdonald, and most of their focus since then have been on getting the defense right. I feel good about where we're at right now and have more confidence in their ability to keep building on that side with most of the pieces already in place. Their record at the end of the year and ability to make and/or win in the playoffs was always just bonus fun. All the big questions, for me at least, now revolve around the offence and who JS chooses to lead that side of the team.

I was just mulling over the last 5 weeks and this occurred to me:

Which team played a better game: Packers at Seattle, Seattle at Arizona?

I think they are kind of the same.

We are one game removed from a dominating win against a team that kind of dominated the Vikings.

Why can't we beat the Vikings

Thinking still about DK and Geno: So if they think they’re worth $30 and $40 respectively, and Schneider disagrees, we’re into a summer of holdouts until they realize Schneider’s offer was basically market.

Or Schneider negotiates a trade

Long summer either way. God help us if they trade for a head case like Pickens

I'm probably a sicko for this stuff, but I'm looking forward to the offseason. Really, really curious on what moves come out of the end-of-season evaluations. As Paul G points out, Earnest Jones is a priority, and for me the top priority, and I'd say that all but a guarantee to get done. He wants to be here and the Seahawks want him here. It will get done.

Expand full comment
Paul G's avatar

The offseason priority is extending Charles Cross and signing Ernest Jones. Geno and DK are secondary to that, and Geno (34) is secondary to Metcalf (27). Should Geno believe that he simply can’t live with $25M* next season, I have no problem with moving on from him.

* Not that I’d blame him, when both Daniel Jones and Trevor Lawrence are making more. But that’s not Schneider’s problem.

Schneider will be in the locker room after the game determining who will be here next year by going Carlin on the guys, asking: "It's a Big Club and you ain't in it?" Those who learn to turn anger and frustration into energy are the people who overcome all odds. Guys like Sundell, blocking his ass off, clearing the way for a Charb TD. In his first Showing. With the entire Nation watching. Told his nerves to STFU and sit down. A good brawl is the best psychiatrist a Man can have. National Attention briefly cast its' gaze our way and it has now gone elsewhere, for good reason. Nobody see's us as Up for the Vikings. Nobody. Cool. Now get to work. Smile. It's gonna be fun...

I can't wait for this game on Sunday. I think the Hawks will win.

If there is one thing that has made me more money than anything else in sports betting it is buying the Seahawks when everyone counts them out. The negativity from all corners of the Seahawks world is rampant.

Not to say it is undeserved ... That was a stinker of a game against the Packers.

But I just don't see one game as being predictive of the next. Especially a game where you lose your starting QB in.

Well Geno is back. And the betting line has been cascading lower (as expected).

Another aspect of that game that seems to really be flying under the radar? The Seahawks with Geno Smith had an excellent success rate. As we all know, they get killed by negative plays (sacks) and yes, an interception.

Success Rate with Geno: 52%

That would be good for 6th best in the NFL over the season.

Also, let's not forget. The Viking's got outgained three weeks ago by 133 yards at home by a Cardinals team the Seahawks handily beat twice in three weeks.

Now the Vikings will come into Seattle on a short week after playing Monday Night.

People think that Geno puts the ball in harms way ... Well ... They should be excited to play Sam Darnold!

https://x.com/Ihartitz/status/1866886641065058670

Not guaranteeing anything or telling anyone to put the house on the Hawks. I am just very excited for this game and think they have a better shot to win than lose.

Out of the last 4 games, I thought that the Packers was by far the hardest. I got the Vikings as second easiest behind the Rams.

Oh and don't be surprised if the Rams lose in New York on Sunday either.

And yes, I know I am in the minority.

Go Hawks.

A betting man. Cool. If I could find a site to place a bet on a Byron Murphy TD, I'd take it. Let him lead our own version of the butt-push on 4th and short. What-the-hell, 4th and 5...

"They are clearly not a team good enough to beat the Vikings and will probably get trounced by the Rams too, so the question becomes can they beat the Bears?"

This would be an example of what I am referring to ... no offense to Larg. But the Seahawks absolutely have a shot to beat both the Vikings and the Rams. Largs is not alone and I don't want to sound like his opinion needs to be changed or anything like that. All good. But it is a good example of many things I have been reading and hearing this week across the Hawks world. Even from guys like Hawkblogger who are generally the more optimistic people. He has been way down this week.

Nothing wrong with it ... Generally, what happens is a huge bounce back game. Not every time but typically especially since now we have the rest advantage.

I agree that after the Seahawks lose a game like that, the reaction is typically that Seattle is "not as good as we thought" or even that they're a bad team. Not always (the positivity after giving up 42 points to the Lions was surprising) but usually. And the inverse is just as true, when the Seahawks started 3-0 or beat the Falcons, fans probably expected Seattle to be better than 8-6 right now.

At the end of the day, if a fan has an objective opinion that the Seahawks are worse than your objective opinion of the team, that is their right, which you acknowledge is fair. But ultimately, who or what is responsible for what's "rampant" online? The Seahawks are responsible. They should create their own positivity.

The comments on here are quite tame compared to the comments on the sites of other content creators. I agree with Mike. After losses, I usually avoid even reading them they are so reactionary and over the top. People can have their opinions, that's fine. I think you are right Joe, the 3-0 start raised expectations, so that's probably a big part of it. If we had started 1-5, people would feel a lot different about 8-6.

Yeah

I don't want to say the negativity is wrong or bad. Everyone is a fan. And being frustrated is part of caring about the team and the outcome.

But typically, the pendulum swings back. Same on the positive side, as you said.

The wild swings of emotion in the NFL are reasons to love it and hate it. But it is a part of it.

A DK trade might happen with the Steelers given they are having issues with Pickett and there is undeniable chemistry between Russ and DK.

I do think we are going to see an overhaul on the offensive side of the ball this offseason. And with the loss to GB on the books I think the odds of the Seahawks making the playoffs at all are near zero despite the mathematically probabilities.

DK has had to slow up for Geno's deep ball. That won't be an issue with Russ.

I think the intention of the comment was just to say that Howell was worse than Geno, not that he was to blame for the loss.

Yeah the loss was not on Howell… Geno’s stats when tied explain why he has had more snaps trailing than ahead.

Howell’s pick looked bad but it could be chalked up to miscommunication between Howell and Fant.
