Why did the Seahawks want Luck in the trade for Wilson?

I agree with 98% of what you've written. The one exception would be whether it might be smart for San Francisco to consider a trade for Watson. Lance would likely go to the Texans in that trade so it would very mean the team had given up on him. But they'd be getting an obviously talented guy who could maybe get them over the hump while they still have an enormously talented team. Can so much talent be held together while Lance develops (if Lance develops)? If I were a 49ers fan, I'd want the team to strategize for now, for 2022, so they can maybe get that illusive Superbowl trophy. The salary cap necessitates this sort of insanity.

Having said that, I hate the salary cap. Football was way more fun back in the day when a team with smarts could build a dynasty.

Yeah, I wish they kept player salaries private.

Interesting ... especially, re: Colin Kaepernick. All things being considered (ALL things) he is, by far, the QB who has earned the right to play again. Since many seem to be 'writing off' the 'Hawks for a year or so, or others mentioned for draft, trade, money, and more ... JUST DO IT!

IMHO: Nothing to lose for anyone.

Kaep could either be a fun, feel-good training camp story, or an unnecessary distraction (I'd guess the former). He shouldn't cost anything. Either way it's an option the Hawks would look at post-draft I would think. Best of luck to him if he decides to make himself available to interested NFL teams again.

A good analysys like this one help calm down I like to read it here but wonder how come other sources and paid full time journalists take the easiest route of rumours instead of good job analysys.
