Gotta disagree on several fronts here and also state, look what’s she done to the Blazers. If JS isn’t dictating to her, or directing her on how to win, then we’re in for a long long dry spell. But SJ you know positions are important. Morris doesn’t play same position as Hankins so that is very very wrong sir. Hankins is a NT. 30 lbs heavier than Morris. Now Young yes. He’s a NT but with all his injuries etc then there basically is no replacement for Hankins. Now Morris over Jones. Yes. And he’s been in there. Morris over JReed or move JReed inside. That makes sense but Morris and Hankins completely different roles. As for White over Tyler. First just plain no. Just let Tyler finish the season. I don’t get your comments about Lockett. He’s close to the only consistent first down quality receiver out there. And until last game you knew nearly nothing about White. Likely agree be great to see how some others do. But Haynes over Bradford or Laken??

Agree with some , some not. CW is really not the problem and will get better, especially when there are guards next to him that can play. He wasn't rated as the fourth best center last year for no reason. If the Hawks lose to San Fran then I believe it's time to use some other guards on this team and see what we have, and they can get a look into what needs to be done moving forward for sure. I also think the D is going to keep moving in the right direction now that they have a MLB that knows how to play MLB! Again if they had had a middling run game in these loses, I truly believe the outcomes in most would be different. They would probably be 6-3 right now! That's directly the O-line and mostly the guards.

I like the answer to that question. It doesn’t say we won’t bottom out but it says that we will never concede a season for draft picks.

Any ownership group that says that or embodies that will never be successful. I like that Jody says that and I like that John understands that as a line to not cross for this team. That leads me to believe that they have had some good talks about expectations and they understand each other.

"A few changes, like phasing out the Browns, is already underway."

There are aspects to this article that I agree with. The premise I'm on board with, but with caveats.

- You have to be careful when you stop playing the players that are a) better and b) have earned it. If you have principles, you better live by them.

- I'm fine with playing younger players over veterans if it is clear to all that, although they may not be better now, they will be better soon than that veteran currently playing ahead of them.

So Jobe over Brown, sure. Haynes over Bradford (which I was an advocate for weeks ago) maybe not. If Haynes has work in the weight room to get strong enough to hold up at the point of attack, then no. Live with AB's liabilities until Haynes has put in the work. As Mike MacDonald said, you have to move bodies, and if you can't, how does that help the team? How does that help the player?

Other than that, I'm fine with SSJ's premise. Care is needed in these decisions though.

Coby Bryant, stepping up when Rayshawn hit IR, has “playmade!”

Yeah I’ve said I’ve noticed some real vision by Coby that I hadn’t seen in past couple of years. He’s no ET but he’s flying to the ball and I love that. Wonderful relegation.

I’ve been saying.. Convert to a building mentality… Play these backups as you list. Especially at QB

Again, I am going to wait and see what happens in the next game. As to the changes you want the team to make, it's possible some of those changes will happen. Some have already happened. Like Jobe replacing Tre. As to guys like Oluwatimi, we have to trust the judgement of the coaches. They seem them every day. The difference between winning versus LA Rams and losing was very slight. We have played every team other than Buffalo close. We belonged in the competition with Detroit. It is not all about making or not making the playoffs. It's continuing to teach and give experience to the players and make progress game to game.

I agree..play the kids to see what you have and what you need. Let's see what Williams can do when he isn't trying to help the two guards. Definitely play Lucas if the medical are OK. If he's back it's one less hole to fill. If they lose the next two games after the bye, bye, bye Geno!!

At some point you have to take the bull by the tail and face the situation!

It'll be interesting to see what they do with Abe Lucas. Even if he's ready to give it another go, how much should they put on his shoulders at this point?

Seaside Joe's avatar

I meant to say this too...DO NOT ACTIVATE ABE LUCAS! No point! Let this man rest for the entire year!

Unless there is some contractual benefit to Abe (e.g., vested benefits or pension or something), but even then, don't actually put him into a game.

Lucas is still a developing player and needs snaps. Plus, the only way to know whether they need to draft a tackle is to play him. If he’s ready, he goes.

I hear where you're coming from. I don't think we know enough to know the correct course of action with Lucas. Maybe the coaches feel that can learn what they need to from practice without risking him in game situations. Maybe the trainers have lingering doubts about his recovery. I'll trust the staff to do what's best, but I hope they take a cautious approach.

The NFL is an entertainment entity. They exist. because fans desires to enjoy their respective teams. Your team's wins or loses do not effect the cost of living nor how politicians run the the country. We watch our teams as entertainment not as a need to live. As a Seahawk fan, I was disappointed with the loss to the Rams, but I was well entertained buy how the game played out. Sure there were bad plays. Also, there were great plays. The game could have been a Seahawks victory, but the important aspect, I was entertained by watching my team play in an extended fashion in overtime. Every team wins and has losses. The best factor is watching the entertainment.

I agree 100%! No entertainment would be lost--it could be gained--from making a few necessary changes.

Great point and agree with almost everything. The only two things I'm not sure about (but just bc of opinion, don't know enough about football to take any strong position):

- I'd like to see Connor Williams for a longer period of time. He's coming off an ACL injury and he's playing with dreadful guards on either side -- his current play may be a reflection of either or both of these afflictions, and Schneider/MacDonald need to see whether he's a keeper or not. Again, I'm not sure he's been dealt a fair hand given his recent injury and those two ABYSMAL guards next to him. He's gotta be having nightmares, every snap, about what calamity is about to beset him

- I don't think you can pull Geno unless you're ready to move on from Geno (which I am not). If you want to see how your alternate TE's or WR's or RB's or OL perform, better to do it with them being the variable and not also having the QB be a variable. Or vice versa, if we want to see how Howell performs, then let's put him in with our 1st string. But I'm still in the camp that Geno with another 0.5 secs to pass and with a semblance of a running game, is better than most QB's in the league. Even Mahomes would be at a 90 qb rating if he were behind this line.

Oh wait, hang on a sec. Mahomes DOES have a 90 qb rating? Mahomes' TD/Int/Qb rating is 11/9/90.1, to Geno's 11/10/88.6? And Geno has thrown for 600 more yards? Hmmmm

Not that big of a deal to me if the Seahawks want to keep seeing what they have in Williams. Again, these aren't "make every single change here". It's "you gotta make some changes".

Frankly, I am tired of the stopgap personnel decision-making. We do a lot of trading for older players that other teams want to discard, which are usually expensive and don't help. It seems our best trades are for players who are disgruntled with their current team. I would instead trade for quality players from someone else's fire sale. How could we miss on CMC and several high-quality offensive linemen.

Get some quality return for the players. (We at least did do that for our former franchise quarterback, but only because his team-affecting disgruntleness required us to act.) Why did we trade Mike Jackson? Maybe he did lose his battle with Tre Brown, but he was a damn good back-up we sorely miss. He was worth much more than a sixth-rounder, even if he wasn't right for our new defense. They should have waited until we had at least two young better replacements arose. Jobe might work out. I sure hope so.

I wrote in 2022 that they should have traded for Roquan Smith. What a different world this would be if Macdonald never got Roquan in Baltimore and instead Pete got him in Seattle. Maybe not a ton would change, but the Seahawks would have Roquan Smith.
