According to Brady Henderson, this is a ceremonial signing to let Sweezy retire as a Seahawk.

Let's move Lewis to the right side and let Haynes play the left side. Who knows how long Haynes would last without injury. Lewis does need to move back to his original position. I will be happy if Jackson makes the team and won't be unhappy if he doesn't. Sweeny better have a good practice as he is signed for only one day. A lot to prove in one practice. Haha Sweezey is signed for one day so he can retire a Seahawk

JR Sweezy is a guy who just worked his way into a 10 year career from the 7 the round that says a lot about him

My sense is that fans underestimate the extent to which the skills of players need to align with the philosophy of the coach, specifically the coordinator (if he's given control of the offense/defense). As an example the 4-3 versus the 3-4. There aren't many players that could thrive in either. Most are better suited to one or the other. In the case of an offensive line, I'm not sure how Waldron's philosophy impacts choice of players but I've no doubt it does. One of the many reasons why teams can be impacted in a big way by the loss of a coordinator.

As for this season, I really don't give a rip whether we win 2 games or 6. In fact, I'd probably prefer 2 to 6 since it lands us higher draft picks. I won't say a better class because the draft is such a craps shoot so who knows. Better chance at a great draft class would be more accurate.

Surely this is a depth signing and hedge against Jackson’s knee surgery.

It’s not impossible that they move on from Jackson and start Lewis and Haynes. Sweezy would then be in the depth mix.

Hawks will probably trade for or sign an O lineman that gets cut before season starts. Could have a good year if they find a good QB. Maybe Jimmy G if 49ers cut him.
