SSJ wrote an article about signing Lock to a cheapish contract right now, and this was a week or so ago, but at the time I thought to myself that Drew would probably bet on himself and decline such an offer because be believes in himself and his ability to start for a team next year, even if it's a competition situation, which isn't ideal. I'm sure he's prefer a decent 20 to 30 million and a commitment to him being the presumed starter getting low end starter money.
Now, here is a possible scenario: Trade ... wait for it ... Sam Darnold at the end of this year after we win the Super Bowl for the second time in a row. Sam will command 2 first round picks. Then sign Drew Lock to a similar contract that Sam is on now. Of course, we would need to have already gotten a handshake agreement about Drew before we trade Sam, but this would be high risk, high reward gamble, sort of. I mean, John Schneider would have to believe, as I am beginning to believe that Drew could pull it off, and lead our team to a third and fourth Super Bowl.
Kenneth Walker just had another outstanding game, 24 carries for 117 yds and another 6 catches (10 targets!) for 61 addl yards. He’s def getting his wish to be the primary ballcarrier and so far, he’s more than proving his worth. Really happy for him!
I was sad to see him go. I suspect that K9 wanted to be on a good team as their primary back, rather than just one of a 2-man committee. If he stays healthy all season at KC, he'll probably get enough yardage to be among the league leaders. He is betting on himself that being the lead back won't shorten his career.
Exactly, I believe he would have accepted the KC offer even if Seattle matched it. He was losing out of TD's because we did not use him inside the red zone until Charbs got hurt. He had very few td's. Chabs was getting them all. So I think he wanted out of Seattle, though I am sure he is thankful for his ring and awards. I wish him well. He was a good teammate and suffered in silence. I respect that.
How dominant was our defense? Arizona only had one play longer than 9 yards and that was a run for 18 yards. Also, we only had 3 penalties, it seemed like more. Cleaned it up from last week and hopefully going forward. They had 7 punts; we had 2 but we turned it over on downs twice. Time was 36 to 23. No targets for Horton. Also, seemed like we ran inside too much when we should have run the outside zone I keep hearing about.
One other thing: it’s not just Darnold who’s still not out there. We’re also down Ty Okada and Rodney Thomas has really stepped up. And although E-man played some today, he’s clearly not yet back to being that insanely fast and crushing safety/nickel/LB/edge or whatever he is in MacDonald’s defense.
Believe it or not, we are still far from being at our best.

What an outstanding decision by John Schneider to trade Metcalf and bet the farm on JSN. Metcalf had another horrible game today (2-9 for 27 yds and some penalties). I love MacDonald and think he's easily a top 3 coach today, but let it not be forgotten how much Schneider is responsible for this team.
Watched a little of that game to see Metcalf drop an easy pass to convert a 1st down and get in a shoving match with a DB off ball. Just really cemented why we got rid of him.
Grateful for Drew Lock's disciplined and precise play. Why wouldn't he accept an extension? That wouldn't much limit his options to start elsewhere, would it?
JSN is so good it's truly a blessing, as he would say.
Darkside clearly means "lights out" especially in the 2nd half when it's night-night time for Hawk opponents.

Lock has a little bit of the swashbuckler about him. His sidearm back foot thing is pretty wicked. All in all though, he played a very smart game and was really accurate.
This game was won in the trenches for sure. Wilson was ineffective to say the least in the beginning of the game, but by mid-3rd qtr his 2-3 yd gains suddenly became 8-9 yd gains, OL was clearly blowing back the DL and the LB's.
And defensively it was truly a dominant performance -- as SSJ said, AZ's last 20 yds on the ground were just garbage-time run-out-the-clock runs. That offense was totally dominated.
Well, my Chazz Surratt only got 19% of the vote compared to the other Chazz Surratt who got 81%. That's the way it goes. Better luck next time, Mr. Chazz. His Family 'n Friends are Happy.
The Cardinals actually looked pretty solid for about five-eighths of the game. Brissett was reasonably good, Jeremiyah Love started hard, McBride is a stud, and the defense was MUCH better than I thought.
The Hawks just wore them out on both sides of the ball in the second half. It was looking a little dicey in the first half, but the O-Line just kept POUNDING the Cards’s defensive line. The game announcers called it out in the late third quarter that the Arizona defensive line just looked BEAT. I don’t even have anything bad to say about Haynes and Stephen’s subbing on the OL.
On to the Daniels-less Commanders next week. Go Hawks!!

I just really doubt his ability to finish the season healthy with this kind of heavy usage.

I think Daniels pre-hurt his elbow so he didn't have to face the Hawks and have them do it again (but worse).
