In the space of 6 days, the Chargers will go from my current second favorite team to 32 place.

Why not just a solid "stock up" for Bryant? I thought he played well in coverage but especially shined as a tackler, wrapping up and hitting hard.

I hated to see Diggs drop that int as I had that as a vision. I stole your vision from last week Edkridge 3 catches 45 yards, close enough considering where he is coming from. I think everybody who reads Seaside Joe was over the moon with Kenneth Walker. Every great back in NFL history has always lost yardage here and there trying to make something happen. The color commentator was former Vikings back Smith. When talking about K9 he seemed to get things wrong. He said he was a big back and implied he wasn't that fast. I'm not sure if it came out backwards or he meant it. I don't mind Smith I have forgotten his first name but Chris Mayer isn't my cup of tea.

I pretty much saw everything you did in KW3, but I remember you speaking of him running the Wildcat. I didn't see that coming in June like you did, well done.

In college they talk about "program wins." Michigan running all over Penn State yesterday was a "program win": that is, the program has an identity and the win is the result of doing what the teams has been constructed to do best. (And Blake Corum--if you haven't watched any highlights of him, has the same kind of package as... Kenneth Walker III).

The win today by the Seahawks wasn't quite that, but it was validation of Pete and his philosophy of how to build a team. Take care of the ball, good running game, and good defense. The rookies showed out on both sides of the ball and give fans hope that there is more and better to come.

I've been a pessimist about this team since the day of the trade. Not about the program, which I'm happy with. Just our prospects for putting up wins this season. Bit by bit, they've been winning me over. I was fairly certain we'd get crushed today and that, if we manged to pull out a win, it would be difficult. Don't get me wrong. The Hawks didn't look good. Neither team did. I don't expect them to make the playoffs. But it's clear they're capable of at least competing with mediocre competition.

I love watching our rookies. Yes, Cross and Lucas struggled some today. That has to be expected as they're rookies. I'd lay 75% odds that they'll both develop into a couple of All Pros. 90+% that at least one does. Walker is much further along than I expected. Mafe is a rookie but better than I thought he'd be at this stage. Particularly his run defense. Same for Bryant and Woolen. The ingredients are there for all to thrive.

- Murray looked bad. He missed several easy throws that killed drives and he reminded me of Cam Newton with his body language. Sorry to be the bringer of gloom but next week will be much harder against a quality QB in Herbert.

- This is two weeks in a row that I haven't heard Michael Jackson's name brought up for a negative play and I saw him in run support on several plays.

- Was Cody Barton on the field? I think I saw number 57 but I never heard his name; is that good or bad?

- Did you all see the whiff on Cody Parkinson trying to block JJ Watt? Mega fail.

- The play where KW3 ran into the Fant on a pull shows he's still finding his way. He's going to get better and more in sync with his blockers. Scary.

- It was nice to see some production from Eskridge and Goodwin.

- The Hawks are the most penalized team in the league. It'd be interesting to know the percentage of penalties that belong to our rookies. BTW, I consider Phil Haynes and Mike Jackson rookies due to their lack of time as regulars.

- Finally, I was a little disappointed that Mafe didn't have a bigger impact.

I'm sorry to lose Penny for the season and I hope he stays with us next year, but Walker looks incredible. The bouncy-outside-Geno-lead-block run (as it shall henceforth be known) was a 5-7 yard gain for most NFL backs. The slippery-salmon run (as it shall henceforth be known) was a -2-0 yard run for most NFL backs. The TD run was great but not great enough to henceforth be known as anything (though I did like the graceful ballet jump to avoid the leg tackle that never came). Those are jersey selling kinda runs K9!

Your point on the entertainment value of playmaking abilities like this shouldn't be underestimated. Football doesn't exist without fans, and fans don't exist without Walkers and Woolens. Plus, big people like to block for guys that they think might score a TD every time he gets the ball.

Could "Walkers and Woolens" be the next line of high fashion unban leggings offered at the Beast Mode shop? I'm trademarking it Marshawn... call me.

T Y V M, Joe! I’m traveling out of the region and didn’t see the game or see a score on the SNF scroll - when I saw “credit for the draft class” my reaction was “Joe didn’t say but … mreep-mrow, we lost!”

But paragraph 4 finally gave me the great news! Thanks for thrilling me with the result, adding tension!

Go Hawks!

My vision board was close. Walker did have a long run and scored a td, so I count that as a vision board win!

I have one complaint about your newsletter, Joe. I used to read every article on the Hawks, especially those from the Seattle Times. Your content is so much more complete and well written that I find I'm not even bothering with the Times' Seahawk coverage anymore. Of course, back in the day I got newsprint ink on my hands so... progress, right?

Walker had one cut in that game, in the middle of a hole on the way to a long run, that was to my eyes truly elite. Reminded me of Curt Warner in his rookie year. Guys who can do that are rare. He's going to be fun to watch.

RB Walker displayed some of his talent today; that I first noticed in his college film. He has the agility & speed, to bounce to the outside, and quickly fly up field along the sideline. He did it several times against the quick Cardinal D today. And I mentioned his qualities in my last post about his quickness to do just that.... sure glad he is able to repeat that talent in the NFL. Go Seahawks !!
