He played some on the nose, and more at the 3 technique at Michigan last year...but his numbers look he could try the 5 as well...

Evin Brown is a JAG. He might be a better JAG than the JAG that just retired, but he's a JAG. Go 'Hawks!!

So he's 26, born Sept. 1996. I had to google it myself. That is one demerit for Seaside Joe.

Bravo! Take a bow! Pretty impressive. I know these weren't the only two you wrote about, but still that is an extremely high hit rate.

So why do I have to pay for this and these other cheap bastards get it for free? I guess that is your decision. I really don't care, but I know you are not getting rich doing this, but ought to be able to do it for a decent living.

So this will alter my draft, oh, excuse me, my mock draft. My mock draft will change a bit, but really I had all along preferred to take what came along organically, which lately has been Wypler at 83, but waiting for the guy from Mich. or Penn. St. makes more sense sometimes. Personally, I like to double and triple dip into the DE group. I'm afraid of Kancey's short arms, though, and I figure a guy like Ade Ade is even faster and would be recognized as such if people grouped him in with the DT's instead of the Edges. He's only a few pounds lighter than Kancey, but many hundredths of a second faster. And he put it on tape at the Senior Bowl.

Anyways.

Pre-Draft Stories about Jalen Carter have Not been favorable. Still, this dude showed on tape that he is an NFL-caliber Game-wrecker. Yes, his conditioning is suspect. I remember hearing the same about Cortez Kennedy. I am not saying this Georgia Bulldog is a future Hall of Famer, but he does have that talent.

Remember, our beloved Marshawn described a scenario: 'What would you expect from an inner-city kid - who grew up poor - who got some real money in his pocket? How would you expect anyone in that situation to behave?

We can safely assume Jalen got a juicy payday from the University of Georgia's player fund in order to remain for another year. He had already played his way into a Top 10 draft pick in 2021 - the fact that he could afford to remain is a tell that his scenario was indeed as Marshawn Lynch offered up about himself as a newly wealthy 22 Yr Old kid from Oakland, who made a couple mistakes.

I suspect PC/JS will do their research. IF they see a good soul who has all that Beast-Mode was describing, plus THIS kind of pressure that Jalen Carter has on him. I suspect they will be good with their effort to make the best choice for the Seahawks. Maybe they say yes. IF they approve drafting him, then so does Cover12.

Draft -

If Will Anderson is Not available at 5 (doubtful), I suspect PC/JS trade back and pick Carter up a few spots later while getting another 2nd-round pick to use on Mazy Smith.

Shelby Harris, Quinton Jefferson, LJ Collier and Brian Mone (likely to miss 2023) in exchange for Dre'Mont Jones, Jaren Reed, Jalen Carter and Mazy Smith - add in Al Woods. Then include your young/hot Edge rushers....yes - this Indeed is what a Championship D-Line looks like. (mic Drop).

49ers - TAKE THAT!!!

Yes Kenneth, I am Certain 'Pete' reads Seaside Joe - somebody Has to be named Pete in your 2000 Subscribers/400 Regular Joes/countless 'Lurkers'...somebody, right?

As for the move - this sounds to me like we will get us a decent later second day pick for Brown to mentor. Sorry Joey...thank you.

Do you think we will be getting B-Wags? It seems to be our main un-addressed issue - heck, since he was not 'replaced' last year with anyone, isn't it interesting the Bobby Wagner could be his own actual replacement?

BTW - Who else on your Jan., 20th list is coming to roost with our Hawks?

Unless the contract is nuts, doesn't preclude going after Wypler at #52, or looking at other IOL options on Day 2. I think we've needed more overall OLine competition, both as injury cover, and to push our players to improve themselves all the more. Also feel this makes LB signing more likely as PC/JS seems set on making sure we have every position is covered off pre-draft (which is smart, and doing so in this order does make sense from a financial stand point, even it it's a touch boring and leaves me as a fan wanting more excitement around the team).

Also, holy hell, what a shout that article was! Still waiting on that Matt Ioannidis signing! Drue Tranquill still on the board - you could be on target for even more excellent predictions...

Per Overthecap he's a $1.25mil base with $1mil bonus. I mean, that contract is definitely not nuts, it's actually really good when you consider it's about half what we paid Blythe last year. Great work JS! Definitely keeps us in play to draft a quality Centre like Schmitz or Wypler (trying not to get too attached to the idea like i'm wedded to Bijan at #5, but I love the run game and this would make me so excited to watch the 'Hawks next year) in Rd2.

I like this signing on personnel, assuming the price was reasonable. Give the dude a chance to strut his stuff, and if he's good enough to start at center, he'll make himself some better money in 2024. Reviews as a center indicate he's a considerable improvement on Blythe, at least.

Strategically, also a smart signing. Again, lets the draft come to us. Still would like to go into the draft with a 3-4 nose tackle and some middle-ish linebackers alongside Rhatigan.

One by one Pete and John are checking off perceived needs. QB✔. Interior OL ✔. Interior DL ✔. When Bobby Wagner signs we can check off ILB. They are truly setting up the draft for BPA. If John likes a QB, he takes him. Same for Edge, LB, CB, WR, RB, okay okay , every position other than the kickers. This draft is going to be a wild ride and I am more fascinated with it than any in recent memory. As one of the old guys used to say .. GO HAWKS !

You are missing one critical position on defense--a 3-4 nose tackle. Woods isn't more than a 30-50% snaps guy at his age even if healthy, and neither Jones nor Reed are nose tackles.

You're right. Hawks need a nose tackle. Mazi Smith would be my choice at 37. Good thing I'm not in charge.

Mazy looks like a Red Bryant-style candidate to play the 5-Tech too with those long arms and ability to chase down the line of scrimmage.
