Happy freakin' birthday to me!! That is the best I have seen the Seahawks play this year, the worst I have seen KC perform in recent memory, and the most fun I have ever had watching Kenneth Walker get totally dominated by a defense! Thank you! 💨 🎂 🥳 🎁

The Seahawks finally looked like the team from the end of last season.

Early in the week I typed it out a comment, and deleted before posting. It essentially said I agree that the D would shutdown 9, but I envisioned a fluky busted play where he cutback and touched us (like he did so many times for us).

I decided to not speak that into existence.

He tried to cut back once that I remember (on a run) and got shutdown. Then there was the big scramble drill catch that showed what he’s so good at. Fortunately negated by off setting penalties.

Here’s to THE Seaside Joe Kenneth accurately predicting the Wheatlands Kenneth not producing. 🥂🍻

I totally agree with Zezinhom and Charley Filipek and join them in their praise of the Return of Big Tony Bradford on the line. I too noticed that the offense as a whole looked relaxed. And smoother. I think his presence made a big difference, positively, on the offense. Sam was decisive with his throws and made a couple of nice runs for first downs. Bring on Chicago!

Tonight wasn’t the first time the Hawks have left a worthy opponent sitting on the sidelines watching themselves get beat. Pre-game announcers enjoyed retelling how K9 wanted to play for a team with a winning culture and how much fun that team has with each other! I instantly wondered if he had watched the previous season when KC missed playoffs, Hawks won the SB and he got MVP! Tonight’s Hawks were the team that was featured in Hard Knocks and they were so cool it’s impossible to not be proud to be a fan!

Michael Dickson reached another tier of greatness tonight. His head games pushed a head coach to add a second returner to increase the chance of a punt return.

Dickson counter? A wobbly slice with hangtime to cause a fair catch.

This game gave me hope that we aren't going to waste a superb defense after all. Just suffocated the Chiefs.

Having a defense this dominating is the ultimate coolest thing.

Having an offense that can play complimentary football with that defense is even more ultimately coolest. 🥶

Just to reiterate from what I taught you Americans in the chat…

Dickson’s kick was not a curveball (that’d be baseball). It was what we Aussies call (& have called for decades) a banana - a kick that comes off the outside of the boot and curves outwards.

A similar kick that comes off the inside of the boot, but swings in the other direction is called a check side (though recently commentators have been calling both types of kick check sides for some reason - maybe they don’t want to offend bananas).

Just sayin’😁.

I loved when Collingsworth said he had never seen a ball do that before!

Best all around game the Hawks have played this year. Really can only complain about the Darnold pick and there were some kickoff coverage issues, that's it. Dickson only punted twice and they were both things of beauty - the helicopter kick and the other was pinned right to the sideline for a fair catch. Definitely an uplifting game for the fanbase.

I could have probably given the Vikings defense credit tonight. But I don’t care. I’m still riding this high.

Per the broadcast, first time Mahomes did not reach red zone in a game!

Another interesting stat to dimensionalize the beatdown:

First game in Andy Reid’s career where he’s not had an explosive play (10 yds run or 20 yd pass).

And also first time in Mahomes career that IT'S offense failed to reach the red zone. Seattle's D was absolutely devastating tonight!

Meant KC's offense, not IT'S. Damn autocorrect lol

We did get the ball to the tight ends, including a nice screen where Sam invited the rush, then dumped it off to AJ for a nice gain. Nice throw to Saubi, also. It felt like the offensive play calling was more varied and creative and that was a big, positive change.

There was a graphic on the broadcast that showed that Darnold was getting the ball out much faster than his season average.

With the Niners losing, we have hope again, but we did dig ourselves a pretty big ditch to cross. 49’ers are older and somewhat brittle, so I suspect they will fade in the back half of the season as they did last year. We will need to build on this win and keep it rolling.

Pretty happy with most of the outcomes today. 👍

Emmanwori is ridiculous. He made so many outlier level plays.

AKBear's avatar

He will get paid handsomely one day.

zezinhom400's avatar

Yeah that was a statement game in many ways

But I’m very interested to hear the OL experts you suscribe to, after the return of Bradford. Was it just him? Or did Fleury change things too? Darnold seemed to be getting the ball out much quicker

Beezo's avatar

Same same and to add to that I didn’t notice much play action even with the run game working. Also seemed like a lot of plays were out of gun.

BEASTMODE808's avatar

I think Bradford was directly involved with the run game working

Charley Filipek's avatar

Welcome Back, mr. Anthony Bradford !

... and as usual, all of the above. Fleury Did look quite relaxed as the game progressed.

Excellent analysis AND prognostication, my mizzle. Shutting down K9 and the outside run game absolutely derailed Reid/Mahomes/KC. Darnold and Wilson were good enough to get points on the board and just NOT screw up (I still can’t figure out what happened with JSN and Shaheed in the back of the end zone…). Combined with the 49ers loss to ATL, it’s been a good Sunday…
