It's unfortunate Dissly has been hurt so much of his pro career. I like the fact he's from Montana (I'm in neighboring Idaho and I always like the small town guys). I am a diehard Washington Huskies fan so like Will for playing his college ball there. And I respect him for coming back from some serious injuries...bad luck more than a lack of toughness. Finally, I love that Will is a willing blocker (yea...I did that). I'm hopeful he's willing to take a pay cut to stay in Seattle. Understand the business side of letting him go if he's not.
I don't have much use for any NFL players that won't do whatever is asked of them to help win games. That kind of attitude is slowly killing the NFL and our society IMHO.
Therefore, for these reasons I'm cool with Fant moving on. Emotion driven...probably why I don' t work in the Not For Long.
Just saw the news that my draft crush, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, is starting this week. Regardless of how this start goes, I think the kid is going to be a winner and Cleveland will be regretting the guaranteed contract they gave to Watson.
Sooo we the best blocking WR in the league in Bobo. Technically hes been outblocking the TEs. Whos to say we cant line him up there as well. Better matchups.
Sign now free agent Chandler Jones and take a shot???
I say trade Noah (hes by far the worst blocker, resign Diss to a lower contract and resign Park. Draft another TE.
In defense of their one and only Blind Faith album, I really like it alot. It was a number one hit in the US and England. Having Steve Winwood was a real upgrade over Jack Bruce. But the best laid plans for the next Super Group winner just didn't happen.
Looking back at the history of the Blind Faith, it failed because:
* Eric Clapton wanted to be traded to another band called Delaney & Bonnie to avoid the pressure of being the bands star player.
* Locker room disagreements because some players were not practicing hard enough.
* Past issues with former Cream teammates Ginger Baker and Eric Clapton were left unresolved.
* Rumors of use of performance enhancing drugs.
* Creative difference over the style of play.
So after the 1st season, the players were all traded.
I agree the TE is a critical position in this offense at present while both starting tackles are out. Whether the frequency of 12 13 groups remains same when Cross and Abram return remains to be seen.
As far as who stays and who goes, my two cents is that Fant is more likely to be with the Seahawks next year than Dissly. Sure it is possible that the market for Fant projects at 15 million plus per year because other teams project him as 60 catch 8 + touchdowns TE. In which case he is probably gone, but I think he stays because the Seahawks will pay him 12 million a year or so for 40 catches and 6 touchdowns, which I believe is inline with his market value.
Same thing, only differnt. ZZ played for 3 hours straight in 105 degree heat while trussed up to the neck in black. The gals went nuts that day. Calaveras Fair Grounds, around 1982. Frog Jumping Capital of the World.
I watched Cream at the old Eagles when I was in high school. It was rarely a trio. Most of the time there was only two of them on stage at one time. Still they made a lot of music for two people.
I was at the Carolina game and I noticed two times in the first half where Parkinson was wide open for a TD if Geno had seen him from about 30 yards out.
Injuries. I was sure Fant would be traded before the start of the season, but with Dissly injured it is great to have him on the roster. In an injury-free world Dissly plus Parkinson plus TBA next year could work out just fine. I don't see Fant happy to stay and get less work than he will with another team. Plus, I get the sense he is not as enthusiastic about being a blocker in the run game as both Dissly and Parkinson are.
I'd need to double check the numbers, but moving on from Dissly won't generate us much cap relief. I hope he can be a for the team guy and work a new deal, but I'm not holding my breath for any player to do that. I really want to keep Parkinson. Which means Fant, I'm gonna miss you.
I'm less in love with all the 12 and 13 sets and TE offence, when we've spent two 2nds and a 1st on RBS and Wrs in the last two drafts. We need to get a bit more from Charbs and JSN to justify those picks over filling other needs. Eyes continue to be on Waldron if/when we get back to a first choice tackle selection and don't need to use extra blocking support. - damn, and I'm a huge TE fan and 12 months ago would be all over this offensive idea
TEs are notoriously difficult to draft. Except for Nick Vannett, Schneider has never drafted one before Day 3. That probably won’t change unless someone they like as much as Schneider apparently liked Fant drops into their lap. Extending Fant and Parkinson makes sense, although I agree that absent an overwhelming offer likely to test the market.
Kinda stunned at the intro. I was just talking to my old podcast buddy last night and he said that we were like the supergroup, Cream. And the one of us who was hard to get along with (not on the call) was Ginger Baker. I didn't ask which of the two of us was Clapton.
I'm fine Especially with Colby- But in Pete's way, If Dissly cannot stay healthy(sad) they need to find another TE in that vein-

I like the re-definition of what a tight end is expected to do. If I recall, Fant came here with an attitude of "What? Me block??"
Here's 3 guys you don't hear about now. Rocked my highschool years...

Loved that group. High school for me too.
My fav trio is that lil’ ol band from Texas, ZZ Top.

Cream vid was awesome!

Clapton was tight with the Beatles.
Clapton played the solo on While My Guitar Gently Weeps/
