Why Seahawks Have Better DL Depth Than Rams
Daniel Jeremiah's tweet about the Seahawks rings true in more ways than one
NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah stirred up controversy on Friday with a statement comparing the Seahawks’ defensive line to the Rams’ and newly acquired pass rusher Myles Garrett. Well, maybe only controversial if you’re a Rams fan or just someone overly-exuberant about the NFL’s big name players like Garrett:
“You can debate Rams starting DL vs Seahawks starting DL. You can’t debate the backups. Seahawks 2nd unit is much better. Depth has been HUGE for the last 2 SB winners.”
It’s clear what DJ is saying. Over the course of a 17-game season and playoffs, depth can sometimes be more important than starting talent, and in his opinion Seattle’s defensive line depth isn’t just better than L.A.’s.
It was good enough for the Seahawks to win the Super Bowl last season.
We needn’t look back any further than Seattle’s win over the Rams in the NFC Championship to find evidence for DJ’s argument, one way or another. Not only do we find that the Seahawks’ reserves are miles ahead of L.A.’s backups, but the starters are still better left-to-right, as well.
