With the 18th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks took North Dakota State offensive lineman Grey Zabel. The most obvious and common move was actually the one that happened!
Of course, this was the move that Seaside Joe wrote many times would NOT happen, so chalk up 2025 as a “loss year” for me but hopefully a major WIN for the Seattle Seahawks. There was never any question that if Seattle picked Zabel, who is expected to compete right away at guard AND/OR center, he would help the Seahawks improve one of the worst interior offensive line units in the NFL last season.
My prediction as of Thursday morning was that the Seahawks would draft tight end Colston Loveland as the “safe” bet and that they would trade up for his Michigan teammate Mason Graham if John Schneider was willing to take a big swing. Wrong, Wrong, Wrong!
There will be a lot more to say about Zabel in the coming days, weeks, and months, but for now I just want to share the news! Share YOUR thoughts on Zabel-to-Seattle in the comments:
Who was left on the board at 18 that you think was at least as good of a pick as Grey Zabel?
Glad the Seahawks appeased the fans this year! Just relatively (quite) high for a player with his resume, but I'm 100% down for the player.
Thanks to SSJ, I was familiar with the Zabel pick and am surprised to see you be hard on yourself. Awesome site, Ken. Awesome group of commenters. I am a better supporter because of you folks. Solid job by John Schneider and our new coaches. I am pumped for what is developing with our Hawks.
