Just think that in RZ, and remember us all bemoaning last year and Geno, with Arroyo Kupp, JSN and now Milroe in shotgun with K9 or Martinez and the Hammer in the backfield, what does a defense do? Plug middle? Defend sweeps considering Walker and Milroe speed, or the EZ with those receivers. Overcommit on defense then someone might beat you easily.

I respectfully decline that he can’t be a potential qb of the future, until I see him in Year 2 making the same horrible throws as he’s done previously. I think his passing can be improved at least a bit, just my opinion.

My favorite quarterback in the draft is a Seahawk! Let's GOOOO!!!! I encourage everyone to watch some YouTube videos of this guy, and not just highlights. He's probably already the most mobile QB in the the NFL. He has a good deep ball. He has a lot that needs work but if he didn't, he wouldn't have made it to 18, let alone 92. He's far from a polished signar caller, but he seems to have the right mindset to learn and grow. And meanwhile we can sprinkle him in on some plays. I predict he scores his first NFL touchdown in 2025.

The draft has otherwise gone in directions I didn't expect it to, but I like every pick so far. Zabel feels like the only one that isn't taking a swing, but I trust the process of taking high upside guys that carry some risk.

Not to mention that the last time the Hawks picked a 3rd round QB it worked out pretty well!

JS is not overprotective of Darnold despite his talk of showing support and value. He had a QB room with 3 guys each with more than a season of NFL starts and has now added a guy with Lamar Jackson potential. Talk about “always compete!” I suspect PC is proud of this move. (And a little jealous!)

I’m way happier taking a chance on Milroe at 92 than I was with Anthony Richardson at 4 or 5. Similar talent, more experienced, lower pick. Relatively low risk with possible massive reward.

Taking a guard in the “first round”?

Trading up and being aggressive?

Drafting a QB!?!?!

Who is this guy at GM for the Seahawks??? I don’t recognize him

A couple thoughts about the draft:

1. I don’t like the Hawks’ picks overall, and that doesn’t matter. My opinion has so often been proved wrong that I’m completely willing to wait and see. (Plus, the fans who actively hope their team’s players fail so they can be proven right are borderline psychotic.)

2. I am already changing my mind for the better on the Emmanwori and Milroe picks, which I disliked the most, because as a fan I drink the Kool-aid. I do this every year because I want my team to win.

3. There’s a wide variance with all of these picks, in my mind. Even Zabel. It isn’t likely, but all four could be Pro Bowlers. It’s also unlikely, but all four could also not make a second contract with Seattle. The pick I was initially most psyched about, Arroyo, had some injury and durability concerns and could wash out. The pick I gut-level liked least, Emmanwori, could be an All Pro.

4. This draft feels not-Schneiderey. Maybe that’s a sign he’s changed or adapted, or that he works closely with coaches and therefore this will be a different experience going forward with a newer HC and new OC. Or it means I didn’t know what Schneider was about all along.

All very interesting and, come to think of it, exciting. Go Hawks !

Maybe this draft is totally Schneiderey and it's just not that Carrolly. If a GM isn't influenced by his coaching staff, regardless of what their official titles and responsibilities are, then he hired the wrong people in the first place.

Over the last few days I had been testing to see if Jalen Milroe could fall to 82 and taking him there. At 92, this is incredible value. From watching Dan Viens, I learned that Milroe was already diligently working on his mechanics. I think he'll be the starting QB before the end of his contract. He's smart and has an excellent work ethic, which is a great pairing with the patience he will receive in Seattle. This is a perfect pick at 92. A+ from me.

We have three picks in the next two rounds, but they're all late. Be nice to move up...Bradyn Swinson (edge) is still out there; so is Elic Ayomanor (WR), Chase Lundt, and Marcus Mbow, and Jackson Slater (IOL). And I'm still hoping for a 7th round grab of Efton Chism III (WR). And some beef on the DL: Ty Robinson, JJ Pegues (as long as we're grabbing up versatile players), maybe CJ West. I have to work today so I'll be watching out of the corner of my eye. Those are my faint hopes. I have complained that JS seemed risk-averse. Not this year. Good for him. Not desperate picks, just creative ones. This is going to be fun.

What's the over/under on Howell being traded for a sixth?

Schneider said in the presser he still has some names they definitely want, and used the term “pliable” to describe Day 3. Think it’s going to continue to be fun and maybe we do see some player trades, hadn’t occurred to me (Howell, Fant, Rayshawn)?

Hyped about this pick, with a bit of coaching this kid has exceptional potential. Also liking the focus on athletic measurables on the first 2 days, great players are rarely poor athletes.

Ok i'm still defintiely sleep deprived but I think I can piece together full thoughts!

Grey Zabel - Let's not overthink this. Zabel is a good prospect, and one that should perfectly mesh with Kubiaks zone scheme. We had to pick someone at 18, especially when it's clear no-one was trading with us. In a traditional year Zabel would never go here, but as we've seen over two days this is even less of a traditional year than 2024 was, or even 2020. He solves the LG problem and does so without blocking us from having taken a more slam dunk prospect in the 1st Rd. Nice move, B+

Nick Emmanowori - They got him in for an official visit, so i'll trust he satisfied and cleared the character questions. Therefore we got a standout talent with comfortable 1st RD athleticism and college production. MM should be capable of turning Nick into a long term starter and versitile weapon as a utility DB. I think the trade up cost was a touch high given the range of players still on the board early in day 2, but if we considered this as a trade up to 29 we'd be calling it a bargain. Happy here for sure. In fact if you told me on Wednesday our top two picks would be Nick at 18 and a trade up for Zabel i'd have say "yes please yes please yes please". Order is less important than the actual picks we made. Giving it an A-

Elijah Arroyo - I've mentioned him first in any TE discussion for like a month now, so obviously i'm happy. He's not a good blocker, but he's not been drafted to be a blocker. He's a huge vertical threat and safe pair of hands. This was a big win for us that he lasted to 50. A proper A grade, no further notes.

Jalen Milroe - The buzz this week was building towards QB. I like this pick. There's no threat to Darnolds starting role, there's no real expectation that Milroe ever becomes a starting QB for the Hawks. This is so obviously a pick for a #2QB & Gadget player. If you put Milroes athletic stats and rushing production onto a traditional RB prospect and said you'd get them at #92, we'd all be very very happy. So i'm very very happy. Kubiak will be loving this. There is no way at all this pick goes sour, as Milroe is either just a scrambling back-up and gadget, or somehow he becomes Lamar Jackson and we bagged a probowler at the end of Day 2. Another A grade.

Overall - A

JS navigated these two days pretty well. The trade up on Day 2 was expected, and he did it for the right kind of player. He's fixed the big OLine gap without reaching. Added a proper receiving TE. And then flashed some balls with Milroe.

And the fun doesn't stop. Two 4th Rd picks, a 5th, we can still make some exciting things happen early this afternoon! With two 7ths to mop up late on.

This draft has been so fun for me to follow. The closeness in ranking of talent, the sheer number of players with questions or concerns, every pick a guess and twist. Teams are zigging and zagging constantly and the media is losing their damn minds. The final wave of FAs post draft could also be interesting with some more cuts coming too. This off-season just hit top-gear and it won't stop until Week 1.

I think you're right. I'm a little uncomfortable that we've drafted two (maybe three with Zabel) guys who are either dangerous and versatile or without position and out of the league in a few years. If Milroe buys into the Taysom Hill role we're good. If we think he's a QB with Dave Krieg-sized hands...that's a problem. But when I look at the players taken after Milroe, the pick makes sense. A bunch of guys I'd have preferred were already gone (and, dang, Milum was a late first-rounder at one point). I guess we might've taken Jared Wilson, but that probably tells us the coaching staff is comfortable with Olu. And Charles Grant would've given us some options as a developmental tackle.

I'm not sure at this point I'd go after another offensive weapon.

Grant sez: "I'm not sure ... I'd go after another offensive weapon."

I'm looking forward to a WR (or two) being drafted, although an Edge rusher or D-Lineman would be good too.

Don't mistake me, I think Emmanowori is a good Safety and will be a good Safety. He is just someone that can be utilised in different roles or creative coverages. Same as Spoon, and like Spoon I imagine he'll settle into that primary role moving around only in specific cases. Nick isn't a tweener like Simmons was when he entered the league.

Milroes usage is more varied. But that usage is a way to get him in the field, as opposed to a more traditional 3rd Rd QB pick who'll sit on the bench for two years. Hell still sit and learn and develop those core QB skills, but can also add a new dynamic on the field at the same time. Better that than a Leonard/Howard/Sanders who would only sit and be potentially of no use ever.

Zabel is for me clear cut LG. He played there in College as well as LT. He can go to RG or RT but really only as much as Lineman can shuffle around. Seahawks will see and use him as LG, where we had that gaping hole.

But this all stems from a couple of smart previous drafts and free agencies. We had only one actual hole at LG, which JS addressed with Rd1 picking a specific LG prospect. Then he's gone after players that can compliment the roster, how might morph slightly to fill out those gaps, but players that have delivered at College level and are not purely athletes without football skills. Our new athletes have football skills. Not worried like we saw under Pete of too often taking athletes or tweeners without proven College production. Creativity of Kubiak and MM can flow in full force

JS taking care of the fan's monkey on his back about OL and also not taking shots at QB .... all in 3 rounds.

He also goes and gets top athletes with that dog in them at each position. IMHO, his seat has an a/c in it all of a sudden.

He kicked off the presser saying this was a “historical” Seahawks draft. Got the immediate follow-up “what was history-making about it” and talked about the players but in there, to me were the Schneider subplots: R1 interior lineman? Not since Hutch. Trading up into the 1st or quasi-first? Emmanwori who they definitely had as a R1. Doesn’t gamble on QB’s in the draft? Milroe

I’m not sure what grade Seattle is going to get in the media but if in a draft where by all accounts there were no more than 10-15 R1 players, and Seattle got two of them, and if a healthy Arroyo would have been Top 15 on their board” you’ve got to call it an “A” draft regardless of the rest of the picks, essentially three 1’s.

Historical.
