Seahawks should have utilized the Dicky Maegle defense on the final play of overtime:

Josh Allen hurt his throwing elbow a couple of weeks ago. Of course, we don't really know what's wrong with the elbow, but he's not playing as well. I also thought the team mishandled the snow storm and two games in Detroit in five days. They waited and flew out on Saturday. Neighbors had to plow and shovel players out of their houses. Practices were impossible. They should have flown out before the storm hit and and had a mini-training camp in Detroit.

Impossible for me to rule out injury related reasons to be bad, but to be fair, Josh Allen throwing picks and completing 60% of his passes is nothing new. So I wonder to what degree this should be expected. Agree with you also on the snow.

I don't think Josh Allen is broken.

Giants record prediction 10-7

The Vikings aren't a contender, but anything can happen in the playoffs.

Tom Brady making the Super Bowl AGAIN would be worth an awful lot of money to the NFL. I have no idea how much.

Dolphins could absolutely win the Super Bowl if health and luck are on their side.

Washington Football Team is pretty dang good!

Top 4 teams in my mind are the Chiefs, 9ers, Bills, and Eagles, in that order. I think San Francisco might just win it all this year. They are awfully hard to score on, and that's what you need most in the playoffs.

Edit: Oh yeah, I'm not watching White Lotus but my wife does.

I feel like any team except the Vikings could come out of the NFC. Just imagine that... KIRK COUSINS? I can't imagine it.

Peak Geno feels a little like Kirk Cousins to me, tbh.

I can imagine it. I mean, just recently Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, and Nick Foles weren't much better (and I'd argue that in terms of talent, all but Trent were worse, and probably him too) and they rode good defenses and fairly healthy teams to championships. Cousins seems to run cold sometimes but when he's hot, he's really good. And he could get hot for a streak at the right time.

I started to say "fun fact," and it occurred to me that I hate that saying almost as much as "this," (especially with exclamation points or all caps), "so much this," "based," and so forth. But this may be an interesting to some (but definitely not fun) fact, Brad Johnson played high school ball in the town I live in and I watched him dominate the 2A high school level before going on to the other USC. As a player at the time for a different in-state (3A) school, my mind was truly blown to watch him win a Super Bowl. I wish I could say I picked him off in high school, but after calling every teammate I still keep up with, consensus was that we only ever played each other in '85, and I was playing fullback then. So I didn't have to spend hours calling high school athletic departments and trying to find our game stats to see if, maybe, just maybe, in a live game I had picked off the quarterback who won a Super Bowl. If there was even a chance, I'd have burned a lot of calories to find out because that'd have been pretty fuckin' cool. Any time the subject turned to DB play, I could drop the ol' "Well, I'm not expert on whose assignment that was, but as a guy who once intercepted a Super Bowl champion in a live game, I blame Josh Jones on that one." and it seem perfectly credible.

But no, playing offense at the time, I haven't even technically shared the field with a Super Bowl champion. And just a small handful of players who made NFL rosters, and none were notable. And so many of these guys were heroes to their towns! There were always kids so much bigger and stronger and sometimes even faster than the "great" players on most teams. Everyone thought they were the next Lawrence Taylor or what have you -and they looked like it among the competition. There's a street in my town named after Johnson, Brad Johnson Way; awarded right after the Bucs beat the Raiders in that pirate Super Bowl. Which I'll also never forget. I watched it with a friend who played on Brad Johnson's team and our girlfriends at the time at a local sports bar. The girls basically cheered for offense the whole game, even though we were rooting for the Bucs. Lot's of "Yay!!!!! Oh! Sorry!" kind of stuff. Which was incredibly entertaining in its own right. They rooted for anyone running with the ball, and my friend and I joked that we can almost respect that.

Well there was a massive amount of info that could be commented on. Never did I think Russell Wilson would not be at least 500 on a team with a defense like that. I would love Bryce Young in Seattle but Huston will pull every starter to insure they get the Alabama QB. Josh Allen is a stud some decisions are not great, but Buffalo should insure he doesn't have to carry the load for 17 games. As we know in Seattle running the ball and defense travels in the NFL and Buffalo is middle of the pack in both. This does give them a punchers chance come playoff time. Buffalo needs at least one if not to home games I can't see the Dolphins winning in January at Orchard Park. Finally in Seattle we have one side of the field shut down let's commit an extra man on first and second down to stopping the run. Also play Blount at safety in the three safety sets he can tackle. Pete is right it would be better for him not to play until next year but right now with Aaron Donald out no Kupp no Stafford this is the game and we will win.

Minnesota is a fraud. The Jet defense will expose them this week. They'll still win the north but pfft.

Washington is not very good but they're playing as a team and winning games because of it.

Top four teams - Chiefs, Eagles, Cowboys, 49'ers. I said the 49'ers only because you asked for 4 teams. I don't think the Niners are in the same league as the other 3 teams.

The Giants will one against the Commanders and against the Colts.

Yes, I think Josh Allen has put the draft doubts behind him. He's just hit a rough patch that could be injury related.

If the Bengals could make the Super Bowl last season the the Dolphins can make it this season.

I am watching White Lotus and I keep waiting for something... anything... to happen. I'm all for developing characters but this is ridiculous.

Yeah, I don't think that the team that gets the top seed in the NFC will make the Super Bowl. Feels like if it's the Eagles or Vikings, those teams should be fearful of Brady or the 49ers or even an NFC East wild card team. I couldn't put it past Pete Carroll to pull an upset too.

I agree but for the Cowboys and that's only because Jerry already sold his soul for their three rings.

Speaking of NFL conspiracies, it seems kind of obvious that Vegas Knew about Donald's injury before it went public. Doesn't that seem a little more than weird and certainly not OK? I pose this question to you, Kenneth, because of your other affiliation.

The Rams collapse has been spectacular. With all the injuries, unless some of their best guys (Stafford, Kupp, Donald) return, I'm not sure they have a shot at winning any of the games remaining on their schedule. Even against Denver. Of course, never say never. Maybe Tutu will surprise.

The Lions coming so close against the Bill is exhibit A in the case for "on any given day". Yeah, what the heck is up with Allen? My favorite NFL QB no less! (Josh, don't make me regret that.)

The Giants game illustrates how tough it is to win in the NFL. Remember how hard it was for Seattle to get to the Superbowl in 2013 and 2014? Lots of small shifts in luck and performance could have scuttled it. For the Giants, the biggest problem is Jones. He's improved a lot but not yet enough.

What the heck has happened to Russell Wilson? Earlier in the season, even when he was performing badly, I felt this fear that he could turn into the old Russ at any moment. Sometimes he did. Now he looks about as threatening as an anvil. A very slow anvil.

The experiment to transform Russ into a pocket passer is not going well, though it's in no way aided by a terrible OL, absence of a great run game, uncreative playcalling, receivers who struggle to get open and drop balls when they do. I'd put it roughly 50% on Russ and 50% on "everything else". What's interesting is the lack of any sense of urgency. Like the guys on O have given up and now we see the D starting to give up too. There was that one outburst by Purcell, explained away in the locker. Is anyone or anything there to refire the Broncos? Which teams on their schedule could they beat? I think they come along at the right time for the Ravens, who will be fired up and ready to ride. The wheels having spun off the Rams, maybe they win that game. Maybe against the Cards. We're at the point in the season where lots of teams start to give up, the players playing to not get injured and/or for stats more than to win. Denver looked like one of those teams against the Panthers.

I'll say a bit more about Russ. It looks to me like teams have figured out that, if they can apply just a bit of pressure, he'll panic and either scramble for half a yard or throw into the dirt or out of bounds. Still doesn't throw interceptions but his inability to survey the field well or pass over the middle has caught up with him. How many passes got tipped or swatted down on Sunday? He's still fast once he gets up to speed but the quick twitch that made him so dangerous appears to be gone. His arm remains strong and accurate. Looks to me like he could be successful with a great OL and a great running game to offset his weaknesses (the way scrambling once could). Then he's be able to hold the ball long enough to create and unleash further down field with a perfect touch bullseye pass, which has always been his strength.

The Bengals had a great run last year but they also had an emerging QB in Burrow. As much as Geno has emerged, he's not nearly as good in my opinion. If he can play at that level, Seattle would have a shot at beating any team.

This is a week where I might find myself rooting for the Rams. We'll see. If truth be told, I'm way more excited about the possibility of a high draft pick than a playoff run. Hard to imagine this team going beyond the Wildcard round. Of course, what I want is irrelevant in the sense that it's even harder to imagine the Rams beating anyone with the current motley crew.

Monday Night Football was great for those of us concerned about Seattle's draft pick. This year has been magical that way. A game like last night's, which I'd not have bothered to watch in other years, had me on the edge of my seat. Oddly, I'm enjoying this season more than any since maybe 2016.

Probably to early to tell and need to wait for draft season, but I wonder what the price tag would be to trade the #3 and get a later 1st rounder and a 1 next year?? I like having these multiple picks!!

I wanted to add one Seattle tide bit. The Tyler Lockett TD was brilliant. Tyler slow played the defensive back. When Geno threw the ball it looked like a 50/50 proposition at best. The Old Randy Moss saying if we are even I am leaving, holds true here. By the time Lockett caught the ball he had lots of space, and actually slowed a bit to make the basket catch. I bet dollars to donuts Tyler and Geno had talked about that many times !

Don't know where all my comments went, but they're out there somewhere, huh? Tally ho. Maybe I'll watch the Hawks live this w/e and send them all the vibes that I've stored up after not watching them live all season. I get too anxious watching and prefer to watch after I know they've won. I'm so glad I didn't have to watch the Atlanta and Raiders game. I did watch the Bucs game knowing they lost just to see all the lowlights in context. I hate to say it, but this week's game is the absolute pinnacle of typical Seahawk trap behavior. Somebody has to say it. I want to be wrong. This is the kind of game we always find a way to lose. Jeez, I'm talking myself out of watching it. Somebody's Mom is gonna get called off the street to play QB and throw 4 tds. Well, at least it won't be because Russ is doing his curlicue minus seventeen yard fetal position sack. Okay. Good vibes!

So.....was Houston going for it on 4th and 2 from the Cowboys' 3 yd line, with <3 mins to go, up 23-20 "analytics"? For me, getting more than a field goal lead changes everything for the other guy. Stupid-ass call as far as I'm concerned, unless somehow I'm missing the "analytics"

Replying to myself on this one: yeah Lovie it's one thing to be down 27-26 with 0:41 on the clock, instead of down 27-23 with 0:41 on the clock. That call rivals Pete's in Super Bowl XLIX (other than of course the magnitude of the stage). Goddam, coulda had Houston with 2 wins...
