At times your description of yourself seems facetious, because you write confidently and insightfully. It takes a moment to remember that you might be operating with the same sort of anxiety and insecurity that anybody does when they they put themselves out in front of others and express an opinion.

You're a great writer and an insightful seahawks fan/analyst. So many of us are grateful for you. Keep it up!

If you're not a little scared you're not doing it right...great work all of the off season. We all appreciate it.

That's an extremely insightful way to describe the nexus of courage and anxiety. If you aren't stretching yourself or taking risks, you would never feel anxious. Your comment was very short, but it was a poignant and meaningful compliment. Well done.

I'm confident that sometime in the last two months you have written the name of a player the Seahawks will draft in 2025.

Let’s see if I can think of someone who I haven’t named yet….

Well, I don’t think I ever said anything about Josh Conerly.

Man 111 comments already. Been noted Carolina looking to trade down. So you’re not off. And Jaqs been talking of several other players. So not off there. What a shocking article.

I'm wondering if seattle will draft Dillon Gabriel. His accuracy and touchdown to interception ratio seem enticing, especially when we won't likely be competing for his services in the first, second, or third rounds. He seems Russell-esque, except for his deep passing. I'm a little intrigued, but i'm also probably stretching desperately to create a comparison.

Trade up and snag Warren or Graham...in that order. I like Warren 1st as he's a 'two-fer'...(1) a big bodied reciever that Sam can see behind a rampaging DT, AND (2) a good lead blocker for K9. Graham 'could' nudge us up to a top five D.

Happy Draft Day to you all! I look forward to seeing these predictions come into fruition, the good food, and potentially funny girlfriend/family reactions.

Love this pick! I honestly feel, like I said yesterday, it is going to be a player that is a first rounder any year. If we trade up to get him, we should. We have the draft capital to walk away with one of the best players in the draft. Pull the trigger Johnny!

I think we will chase a guy like you suggest or we will have our guy fall to us at 18. A trade up is a bold move. Love it. I’m liking Nolan or Will Johnson.

In this scenario, I personally would prefer to stay put and take Loveland. I really don't want to give up picks before 100-110. I think SSJ is correct to see logic in trading up in this years draft - as compared to other drafts. I think I am just too frugal to make that move. Use (IMO) 170's and 200's picks to move up from 50 and 137 and get what you can get. My board personally NOW has 5 first rounders, 22 second rounders, and enough third rounders to last from the late first round all the way to the early fourth round. For me, after that group is gone I would feel lucky if there's much left...let's hope we crush it. All I know is the more tape I watch the more I change my mind. Last year someone on this site said that they never thought after watching the Texas games that Byron Murphy was the best player out there. I agreed with the statement and then thought we should draft him anyways. Now I get it. I see the same level in the pros out of BM so far. I want an impact player. Someone that regularly affects games in a way that can't be ignored. Someone that wins early and often. I keep seeing Egbuka doing things regularly throughout games and he loves the Seahawks. I think if he's there he's a safe pick to hit on. Go Hawks! And thanks SSJ community for getting us through another off season...let the draft begin!!! Now where's the good whiskey hiding....

The real question is whether they'll cut to commercial when it's our turn to pick again.

Take this with a grain of salt, I just ran a couple dozen simulations on PFN and Graham never got past the Jets at 7, so if the Jags pass at 5, the sweet spot is going to be the Raiders at 6. And it cost 18, 50, 52, as well as a 3rd next year to do it. Not sure it's realistic or not, but that's probably around the cost they are looking at.

I do fear my offers were slightly low ball, so it could take two second rounders. But as long as the Seahawks keep one of their two second rounders in 2025, I’m still all for it.

This is such a weird draft. With a scarcity of blue chips and talent at the top, the cost to move up in theory wouldn't be as much in a normal year. But plenty of players develop into great pros, and good and bad years can only really be determined after the fact. But it feels like 2013* all over again. If JS was certain he had job security, I'd trade all the capital other GMs were willing to for 2026.

*For those of you who don't remember, go look at the draft class of 2013. Save D Hop, rare is the player's name you'd know in the first two rounds (except the ones Pete picked up later as reclamation projects) and not even as many gems as usual later. The top 10 picks were unreal.

As am I. I didn't think Graham would fall out of the top 5, but if it happens, I hope (and expect) JS is prepared to pounce.

Rob Staton (I know, I know, some un-fans here) mentioned yesterday he had heard that the Seahawks had done a lot of work on linebackers. Campbell is still in play I think if the medical is ok.

Campbell would be a very good pick, if healthy. I’ve been convinced by the readers to keep an eye on the UCLA guy too.

If John trades up significant for ANYBODY, I'll be shocked. Not unhappy, just very surprised. Graham or Warren would be awesome, but there are those who think Grant has a higher ceiling than Graham, although Graham is the most pro-ready. If the Seahawks agree with that assessment, I'm not sure they'd cough up the draft capital for immediate gratification, especially with Leo, Murph, and J-Read already good to go in the middle of the line.

If someone like the Giants calls to trade up from the early second to get to 1.18 to nab a QB (ahead of Pittsburgh at 1.21, the more I think about it, I'd ask for their 2026 #1. They are likely going to be a dumpster fire, so that could turn out really, really well.......if they go for it.

Largentium's avatar

My dream scenario is Sanders is still on the board at #18 and the Browns/Giants get into a bidding war for him and the "winner" has to give up their 2026 first rounder, along with either their 2nd or 3rd round pick.

Mrs. Turtleman watches a LOT of true crime, which means that I watch a lot of true crime. I feel the same way. One of my favorite memories with her was watching all 3 of the West Memphis 3 documentaries and at the end of the final one she was near tears and I couldn't help myself and said, "The crazy thing is, those boys DID it!"

She treats me watching "football games that have already been played" like I was playing Ms Pacman or something while she watches a documentary about a trial that happened some 5-20 years ago. But we at least appreciate what each other likes, and that's crucial to a healthy relationship. At least I think so. I actually quite like the true crime genre with the attention and budget it gets these days. I only wish we kinda/sorta agreed on music that was awesome in our formative years.

That's always possible if JS can work the deal for Graham. Shamous is right they did cut Young just before the draft which would indicate the need to draft accordingly. The other interesting move Seattle just made is Kubiak moving TE Brady Russel to FB. With that move and Noah Fant's tenure in 26 questionable this might be a good time to pick up on a blue chip TE. Kubiak considers a FB a must have in his offensive schemes, so Loveland might well be the safe pick. Another crazy idea is Seattle trading down with Pitt so Pitt can draft their QB and Seattle picking up a their first and another 3rd round pick. Even that might be s stretch with Pitt not having a 2nd rounder. But say Seattle did trade down and take a tackle/Guard or my crazy thought of them taking Jihaad Campbell and pairing him and Jones together in MM defense. 2nd and 3rd round would go for OL, TE, D-Line, or WR. Schefter had an Idea that Seattle trades up (Miami at 13) for Jalen Milroe, as the future QB and their 2025 version of Tayson Hill. I don't think Seattle will be able to trade Howell before the draft, but maybe after for a pick next year. Cost would include a 3rd round and a 7th along with their 1st to Miami. He was a top 30 visit and McDonald was in Baltimore when they made the trade for Jackson, another athletic QB that needed passing development. Seattle also has familiarity with Bama coach DeBoer. I think a lot depends on which way the top 10 picks go. I would not be surprised if Seattle took a CB or Edge at 18. I think this year is really a pivotal draft for JS and his future with Seattle. I'm not saying make or break but will have a determining impact for the next two years of the direction of Seahawks football.

Milroe would be the ultimate curveball pick. His projected draft position is all over the place, but he makes a lot of sense as both an immediate weapon for KK and a development project for JS and staff. Because of his x-factor-ness, he's not an immediate threat to Darnold either, so we'd avoid that drama. High-risk, high-reward.

I honestly think I might take him over Ward, who is slated to go #1 overall. But if I was a GM and my job depended on it I would probably (okay, definitely) feel differently. He is going to need some time, for sure.

The fact that he won the William V. Campbell award (academic Heisman) this year boosts him up my rankings for sure. You've got a guy with NFL arm talent, superior athletic traits, and stands out amongst his peers for academics and leadership. Sounds like a guy with all the right building blocks to work with, and would have a couple years of development time in Seattle. hmmmm...

That would solve ALL my 2025 draft anxiety. I am not enamored with any of the players ranked 10-50, they seem to be interchangeable ranking wise, so drafting at 18 seems like a waste. And assuming every team feels this way, trading back may be harder this year. So go the different route and trade UP. No one would see it coming, since everyone thinks JS wouldn't do it.

Plus, we get a defensive stud, making our front lethal. I love defense, and a violent line would make me VERY happy!

Put me down for anyone of the scenarios you listed, with the caveat we keep at least 1 2nd round pick to address the O-line.
