How do QBs who emerge or we missed get to join the field? Jalon Daniels is an example of someone we didn't get to vote for except as a write in. Davis Brin leads the nation in passing at Tulsa and Caleb Williams is a no-brainer from USC.
Here are the top 15 non-freshmen QBs in pass efficiency:
Kenneth - what are your thoughts on Penix as a pro QB? Sorry if I've missed any comments to this effect in previous posts - he looks like he has an arm, can throw in tight windows and move through progressions pretty quickly. I'm not smart enough on watching QBs to know if his skills will translate to the pro game, but curious as to what you think.
When you think of great QBs durability is always part of that equation. Brady, Rodgers, Wilson, Montana, Young, Brees, Rivers... they've been on the field when the team needed them.
Have liked Penix in the past. It has been difficult to evaluate him because he hasn't stayed healthy. Tore the same ACL twice. Serious shoulder injury. The best ability is availability and his career-high season is six games. His mission is to showcase himself for a full season without any injuries and without and games with 3-4 interceptions, another problem he had at Indiana.
I know a lot of Seahawks fans will pine for Penix if he leads UW to a Pac-12 championship or something along those lines. Couldn't matter less to me if a QB plays for UW, WSU, USC, Oregon, so I will look at it objectively. If he goes a full season without injuries and without these terrible games, fantastic. He has good traits. But hard to say until he actually competes over a full season.
Good point on health. I sometimes think there is an arbitrage opportunity to get a premium QB (or really any player) if they drop in the draft due to health but have a pro skillset.
Regarding Seahawks fans and Penix - agree, but it will be nothing compared to the pining that will happen if Sam Huard ever can become a decent QB (it's not looking great right now). The Huard name is legend in the PNW and he's been heavily covered in the Seattle papers ever since he surprisingly agreed to go to UW as a five star recruit.
Interesting... Wasn't clear the order I voted was a ranking. Would have ordered my votes differently
Yeowza, how did Chase Cunningham get left off the island? 16/25, 408 yds, 3 td, int. Got TVD pulled from the game.
Cam Ward, Washington State. Was probably the best watch on TV today. Plus the most interesting transfer QB
