Whew! I feel so much freedom and relief just from reading that headline!

Yes, I am excited! (Even if it is still tempered a bit from my experience as a lifelong fan)

I think I might be able to predict the future.

- If the Seahawks beat the Lions, people will say "there not as good as people thought they were".

- If the Seahawks beat the 49'ers "yeah, but they are so beat up and injured".

- Ditto if they beat the Rams

Maybe if we beat the Bills? In any event, who cares. Every win is a bonus this year. Learn, grow, and figure out what roster adjustments are needed. 2025 is where it's at. Anything we get out of 2024 is gravy. Damn. Now I want gravy.

But for our OLine, the Bench has been impressive. Seems even these Big Guys are improving, week by week. Everyone expects us to take at least a half season to learn the new schemes. I credit Leslie Frasier with influencing a lot of that. BTW, he comes to us from the Bills...

Sure, RB’s can get their highlights anytime, the stats will say what they say without regard for timing. But I take MM’s point to be that a physical back like Charb wears teams down and wins the fight in the late rounds. Don’t worry if he gets stopped early, cuz big straight-ahead runners will get stopped early, when the defense is fresh. But eventually those holes won’t close so fast and he’ll start running over guys. As we saw last weekend.

I find it interesting to wonder about MM’s contribution to offensive strategy, as a defensive guru. What does he see in an opposing defense as the game evolves? Where does he see weaknesses? He runs an attacking defense, and I gotta believe that he likes to attack with a guy like Charb as he sees what the defense is doing. Vintage Pete was like this too - beat the other team up on both sides of the ball and win the war of attrition.

We now have a look at the difference in coaching styles as Mack showed up and immediately got upset with players showing up at camp out of shape. Diggs felt it was an insult to their "professionalism", which Pete "respected". Irregardless, MM began with expectations from the start. A player's Duty is to be prepared on Day 1 and not "let the Team down". It gives me a feel for the new attitudes now settling in. We can expect our guys ready to kick ass on MNF. (Here's looking at you , Jerod Goff). I suspect some of our huge linemen got called out in front of everybody. We could still be dealing with bruised ego's, especially among the rookies and Year 2 guys. Hey, they didn't expect this. Shake it off Men. It's Go-Time. It has also been speculated that big Eric Peters may get tapped to come back and provide a Big Daddy Voice to help our OLine dance together. Connor is too new and Cross was born quiet. Somebody needs to take command by the horns. Stay late until they all agree.

This topic illustrates why it's easy for number crunchers to keep generating new "advanced" stats to supposedly better capture "truth" by adjusting value of wins/losses based on record of each opponent, etc...but you can keep diving further down that rabbit hole all day. To "accurately" value performance you'd have to account for play-by-play personnel changes including health, etc - and every metric can be challenged.

Bottom line is still win-loss record, and as Jacson Bevens put it on Cigar Thoughts last week, "Wins are wins, and they all spend the same at the end of the season."

3-0 rocks, even if it's been against weak teams. Go Hawks!

People talk about record and opponents but same can be said about the Steelers. Agreed next few help see how far the Hawks have come, and week 16-18 where they are.

We are the Seahawks. We get discounted. We fly below their radars until it's playoff time and they all act surprised. We have accepted it as a bias and we use it to fuel our shoulder chip, but we love it. Let's GO!
