Seahawks fan survey: Which players will still be on team in 2025 and 2026?
Seahawks come and go every year, which key starters will go in 2025 and 2026? Seaside Joe 1962
What is the difference between an expectation and a prediction?
Here is the top answer given by a linguistics teacher on Quora:
If you ‘expect’ something, then you will be surprised and disappointed (even angry) if it doesn’t happen. Expectations of teachers include respectful behaviour from students, punctuality, and a high level of participation. These are what teachers expect. That means we will be angry if students don’t meet these expectations, because they are logical and reasonable.
If you ‘anticipate’ something, you could be (a) looking forward to something which is inevitable, such as seeing your daughter’s face at the airport, or (b) imagining getting surprised by a bit of serendipity, as in “I keep anticipating that he will call me out of the blue, and we’ll meet in Paris a week later.”
If you ‘predict’ something, you make an educated guess about future events. “I don’t know what the future holds for sure, but I predict an increase in global conflicts based on need for natural resources.” It might be something a bit lighter, like when you say “I think the Leafs will win” or “It will probably snow tomorrow” → these are predictions, guesses about the future. ‘anticipation’ has more invested emotion behind the thought; and while expectations are 99% certain about the future; predictions might average a 50–70% accuracy rate.
You can tell he’s Canadian because his sports reference is “Leafs”.
For today’s episode of Seaside Joe, I want to gauge your EXPECTATIONS — what is the outcome that would surprise you if it did not happen? — about certain veterans on the Seahawks and how much longer they will continue to be Seahawks based on their contract status, age, and recent performance.
