- Less than 3 weeks to go until the Broncos game. It is going to be such a relief to get to real football games, although then I start to get that sinking feeling of basically watching the hourglass knowing that eventually all the sand will be on the bottom...and at some point we'll be at the start of the 2025 offseason. I wish football games could last year round.
I’m good for about the first month before I start to think that the offseason isn’t that far away. It feels like this offseason has flown by. I guess that’s from all the changes with the team and thoughts/wishes of all the possibilities.
Speaking of Broncos, AKA our first opponent, Nix looked damn good this weekend. I did not see a disjointed team looking to find their way. Payton will have them ready to go. He wasn't blowing smoke when he said Nix was the only rookie QB he was looking at. We can expect the entire League is focused on what Mac/Durden does with our Defense on Day1. I fully expect this next preseason game will have our starters working out how to surprise the Other Guy and not ourselves. There will be no Gimme Games, as I had hoped in our first 2 contests. Our first game last year was a puffed-up group, which our veteran Green Dots should be most focused on not repeating. If we err, let it be on the rough and tumble side of the scale.
I liked Bo Nix a lot coming out of the draft. I missed Denver's 2nd preseason game but he looked very much like a rookie in week one. I'm rooting for him and he seems to be a good dude, but I do think playing against all starters and an opened playbook in week one should prove to be a tough debut. At least I'd think MM would have some rookie killing plays drawn up just for the occasion. But we have to remember that there are professional football players (and an accomplished coach) on the other side too. Jeff Fisher might have been famous for going 8-8 but one if not two of those wins always seemed to be against us.
Payton is out to prove he is more than a rider on a great QB's coat tails. Coach Mac has had months to prep for them. I don't think anybody is ready for what we will be seeing, especially a rookie QB. I suspect we will see Payton give new examples for the term 'conniption fits'
YES, Be Rough and Tumble the heck out of them Broncos! I would be really surprised if the Hawks don't come out very physical on D. I can't wait to see that again! Push the others teams O, don't wait and see what they are always going to do, try and make them do what you want them to, and that usually has them at some point making mistakes! GO HAWKS!
The Mariner will never get to the World Series until we get new ownership that is willing to spend the money it takes to win big. Servais needs to go asap.
I remember A-Rod leaving for New York when they moved our center field fence back, costing us his bat. Has the League standarized the distances from home plate to the fences (home runs)?
Ugh ... Starting to get offensive line concerns again. Some not great reports coming out of Tennessee at least from Mike Dugar. Jeff Simmons is a premier player so there is that.
But, I am surprised by how many people seem to be excited or at least not worried about Laken Tomlinson. Just based on markets alone he is worth $1.2M compared to Damien Lewis who got $13.2/yr. The market is saying that is significant downgrade.
Next, we are pinning our hopes to Connor Williams coming off a rough injury? And he hasn't practiced yet. Not reading good reports about Olu.
Then we have a battle between second year player Anthony Bradford who struggles pass blocking and a rookie Haynes.
Then we have a right tackle who hasn't practiced yet with an ok older backup.
There is definitely hope. Not saying anything is definitive at all. But, seems like some things really need to break right for us up front and/or Huff/Grubb can work some magic again.
No predictions here just some concerning thoughts popped up this week. Start of the season can't get here soon enough.
“Just based on markets alone he is worth $1.2M compared to Damien Lewis who got $13.2/yr.”
Over the course of my life, I’ve learned to be unimpressed with immediate and short-term market perspectives. It’s more than likely that Lewis is grossly overvalued while Tomlinson is solidly replacement level. The question is what did they do with the 11M difference? Tomlinson + Connor Lewis + extending Julian Love sounds better to me than signing DL for 13.2M.
As I always believe! But especially with this years Hawks team, If the O-line comes together and they get decent play as the unit grows together this team could definitely end up in that 11 plus win category. I have said all off season since the change and draft that I believe they will get to 10 wins. Soon the real fun begins and we will all find out!
Barring major injuries, if the OL. is league average I think 8 to 9 wins is realistic. The D is much better than last year and the O will be better simply because they will have much more offensive drives!
I was really hoping D-Hall would start to show the player he should become, and that looks to be the case from everything I've read, and seeing his play in the 2 pre-season games. He's a monster who looks like he's about to be unleashed, and that would be huge for this defense.
Mike Mac's non-answer about Abe yesterday is curious. If he's struggling still to get that knee right, why wouldn't he just say 'I'm not sure if he'll be ready. Might start the year on the PUP.' But he didn't say that. I won't try to read tea leaves, but saying 'I don't want to answer that question' is a curious response.
Good to see Williams practicing at center yesterday. If, and it is an IF, he's healthy and back to normal, that would be a huge boost for the o-line.
WARNING! Please, no 'Denver is bad' articles. No Bo Nix is a rookie that Mike MacDonald will make look foolish articles or comments. Respect our adversary.

I am consciously on guard that my beer bottle does not feel half empty by Game 6.
Half full, c’mon! Lol 🍺
'szactly!
I’m on guard for ANY game day bottles that get much below half. They are then quickly finished and replaced with a fresh frosty one.

I’m a Nix fan and have said before (as Ducks fan)………”Don’t underestimate him”. He’ll go ok.
"Never count these guys out" was my constant observation that brought me to our Hawks.

I think Seattle is starving for the Seahawks, especially given the Mariners' collapse.

NO
So...... John Schneider wants to know: Will ticket sales be better than 60% this year?

Sounds like you’re in the ‘seeds of doubt’ group 😁
Haha ... definitely for the offensive line. The concern level is high but hoping for the best.
In general, just ready to get this season going.
Yes. Bring it on.

If the Offensive line gives Geno just one more second I will be happy. May the 12s be with you and Go Seahawks.

WARNING? Or what?
A game 1 Rams redux......potentially. I'm a superstitious guy I'm afraid.
🤣🤣
Or Mac as in Big Mac.
