I've actually got my eye on Parkinson. He finally showed up last year and and will be a good value to resign in 2024. JSN is clearly the #3 WR. Dee Eskridge has shown nothing. If Bobo could play special teams he might be unemployed. I think Young will leapfrog him at #4 befpre years end. I just doen't expect Seattle will quit on a second round pick and I have no expectations of him in 2023. Haynes and Lewis are playing for contracts in 2024, here or somewhere else.

I expect Hall and Mafe to either light a fire under Taylor or help him put up his resume in 2024. Smith could be a pivotal piece in that equation as well. I still think Seattle may give Nwosu a new contract this year. He's been the best free agent signing in awhile. Does Seattle see Lock as their future QB. Could be.

Probably the wrong place to post this and I know I've been banned from Rob Staton's blog for trying to point this out but: pretty clear what the Seahawks think of Drew Lock

“We do like our guys,” Carroll said of the decision to not draft a quarterback. “We do like where we are, and we need to add another one, for sure, and that will likely happen. But we're fired up about Geno coming back for us and we're fired up about Drew being back. I think the opportunity for Drew is a really good one, again, to grow with our program and become part of it. We think that's a real strength of ours, and so we need to prove that, but we think we're going to be in good shape there.”

- per Brady Henderson https://www.espn.com/blog/seattle-seahawks/post/_/id/36547/geno-smith-was-the-biggest-winner-of-the-seahawks-2023-draft

I would even go onto say that this could be one of their main strategies moving forward.

Pete "We think that's a real strength of ours, and so we need to prove that," What is he referring to here?

In, 3-4 years where will a guy like AR be? He will have actual NFL experience but likely to be labeled a "bust". So when you look at Anthony Richardson (almost 21 years old) he will be 24-25 years old when the Seahawks may target him for a trade or free agency. As Joe has pointed out many times, what are the chances of his success? Well probably not over 50% with the Colts. It would be interesting to see how many QBs over the last 10 years that were drafted in the top 10 got a second contract? Josh Allen was probably pretty close as he struggled years 1 and 2. Had he struggled in year 3 or had the owner fired the coaching staff would the Hawks have looked to pick him up?

PC has also talked about liking having guys for 4 years like college. Lock is 26 (I think) ... So if he takes over around 27-28 years old and plays for 4 years a guy like AR will be about 26 years old. The cycle continues.

It appears to me that the Hawks may have found something with this strategy. Just some thoughts. Go Hawks.

I couldn't agree more about Lock. Make no mistake, JS/PC do like Lock and were delighted to get him in the RW trade. I think they both really beleive Lock could be the successor of Geno in the next two years. Everything that was done in Denver has been approached completly differently in Seattle. They are in the process of putting the man back together again and restoring his confidence. He will also have a firm grasp of the program in a couple of years and will be familiar with all the skill players especially the receivers. I'll bet he has a great preseaon as he will be be getting al lot of looks.

I am already preparing myself for all the "No one could've seen this coming" takes from the talking heads out there when Lock takes over and is good.

We just had to go through this all last year with Geno. It is primarily because it is all an echo chamber and anyone that says "Oh I think the Seahawks will be pretty good with Geno at the helm and make the playoffs" (that was me last year) gets laughed out of the room. That way when Geno is good they can join together and claim safety.

History rhymes and I think the same thing will happen with Lock.

I also think the Seahawks will target Anthony Richardson in a couple years when he inevitably struggles.

So far as I can tell, Rob never acknowledges Drew Lock as even being on the team, much less representing a possible valuable QB option. It;s weird. If I wasn't already banned, I would have made a similar comment.

It’s also funny how he is touting himself and criticizing others over him being right on the Jalen Carter non pick, rightfully so IMO. But not one acknowledgement of being dead wrong on QB. The hawks were never taking a QB at 5 and yet he clamored on and on about it.

Yeah, I would say that is pretty hypocritical to critcize others opinions on Carter without acknowledging his own shortcomings on the QB situation (and he still doesn’t get it!). Pretty amazing

Carter had 3 interviews and 3 strikes...your out. But Rob doesn't follow baseball much I guess.

Haha ... I cracked up reading that. Well said.

If JSN and Charbonnet play as advertised and Fant steps up then the offense will have similar weapons to the 2017 2018 Rams. Like the Rams success will depend on the collective effort rather than a couple of dominant Qb play.

Do you believe either Coordinator also needs to Step Up this year? I think expectations are a lot higher this year and both side have plenty of talent to work with. We should not confuse a player who does not step up from a player who is being misused or overused as a rookie.

People always mention that BS tackles stat for Brooks. That's one of the most misleading stats -- maybe the most misleading -- in the NFL. Because it's dependent upon getting opportunities to tackle, which often happens because you failed to accomplish other things. Brooks really needs to step it up, though it's not (and never was) his fault that he was taken too high. I honestly don't know what Schneider was smoking that day but I'm glad he appears to have been off the juice these last two draft weekends.

I'd really like to see Lock get some snaps this year. Ideally, not because Smith in injured but because he earns them in preseason. Unfortunately, NFL coaches tend to be conservative about playing more than one QB, and Pete Carroll is nothing if not conservative. So if Geno stays healthy, I'm skeptical that it happens.

I think he was smoking a Lot of NEED these days :D Not much BPA with this Pick. I hope Jordyn will Not slow down because of His ACL.

Your format makes me choose between a "Like" button or JUST a "comment" button, both of them bring me to the comments section. I don't "LIKE" every post because that is boring. Maybe you will eventually become the king of written sports commentary, and make me ashamed I didn't "LIKE" every post you make. On most occasions your "LIKE" button might as well be a "LOVE" button and I would probably keep to my every other "LIKE" versus "COMMENT", but today I gave you a LIKE, but I wouldn't have given you a LOVE.

For a LOVE this article would have been about everyone's ceiling. Putting that all together into a potential running of the table, and eclipsing the MIAMI team with Csonka and Mercury Morris, and Griese, wasn't it? Their QB wasn't as good as our QB. They had a pro bowl linebacker I remember, probably HOF, but so do we! It's not all that improbable that many positions will be in the hands of rookies by the end of the season. And improving those positions for the vast majority.

Continuing on that theme, Oluwatimi is in my mind the steal of this draft. A future hall of famer as the most successful coach of all time. This guy is bright. At his best he could take the position over and improve our overall OL significantly. Bradford could do the same at RG. Lewis is due for a breakout season and what if he did? No one doesn't expect a significant improvement from both of our one year veteran Tackles. Overall, an improved running game for sure, but possibly an improvement in pass protection, too!

I can go on but I'd rather you finish this. I know you might not, and that's perfectly OK. Maybe I will continue it later as I get to know the players better. I really LIKED this one, which I was sort of waiting for to avoid house work.

You've got high expectations for Oluwatimi, Bradford and Kenneth. I'm more than content with the content we're getting for $5 a month and I'd be thrilled if Oluwatimi and Bradford became valuable starters. The Pro Bowl, going All Pro, doing it more than once, would be gravy. The Hall of Fame would be nirvana. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's hope they can stay healthy and make real contributions.

Please notice I did not say Oluwatimi would be a HOF center, but if wins the job over Evan Brown, we can be sure it will be a big improvement over Blythe.

Tangentially, 1,000 yds as a receiver in the NFL is just not the milestone it used to be. QBs (teams) were routinely passing for 4-5k yds in a season BEFORE an extra game was added to the season. Now that there is a 17th game, 1k yds in a season is only 58.8yds per game. That is, let's say, an "involved" number, but not the mark of a high-end receiver in this era. We have to resist the urge to just glance at that number (or 100 catches) and just slap a "great" sticker on his hiney. That said, IMHO, DK is a keeper. He knows he has to work on his short routes and perfect his natural power/speed game, as well. But, he has been worth the investment, so far, and has some room to improve, still

Darrel Taylor is probably the number one guy on my list. I thought he would be much better last year and maybe it took for him awhile to get going in the new scheme. Not sure the reason, but it is huge year for his career. PC mentioned how focused he is this year, let's see if it translates to the field.

Overall, the coaches made a note about the D-line and defensive run game in the off-season. They made some nice moves but it looks to me like they still may have a ways to go? Or at least the run game defensive sure looks to still be the number 1 unknown going into the season. Will they stick with the same scheme from last year? Will the simplify it? As Richard Sherman said they would. This maybe a comment to step up for the coaches and get the best scheme for the players to execute. Could/should be easier with such talent in the secondary. We will see. They will also be tested in the NFC with the top teams being the Niners/Eagles.

Our defense is going to be massively different in starting personnel. And other than Nwosu, no one else will be the same on the DL unless Taylor wins the job, which is not assured in spite of his 9.5 sacks. Derrick Hall, who we got in the draft could win the job outright or win some snaps. The interior DL will be entirely new unless we get Al Woods back, which I root for, but Cameron Young's youth could win the day there and that would improve our team. With Adams, Love, and Witherspoon added to the mixture, Quandre Diggs, and Woolen, which was the strength of our DB's last year, will be the only two starters coming back. This defense may be slow to gel, but when it does it should be a significant improvement over last years' defense.

Brooks' time as a Seahawk is likely coming to a close--unless he can come back and upload Bobby's programming into his mainframe. With all the Alpha-types that have been drafted this year I wonder how Brooks fits in with all that?

Haynes is going to be seriously challenged for a starting spot.

Fant, yeah, he is definitely one who needs to figure it out, but for DK the best thing that has happened for him is drafting S-N. He won't be seeing as much double coverage as a result.

Sure, it's great to get a lot of tackles, but if they are 8-9 yards downfield as a LB, who cares? I totally agree on this being a prove it year for him, shame he got injured so late in the season, it might make it easier for Seattle to close out on him.

Our offense should be dang near unstoppable in my opinion while completely sober.
