I completely like the analogy -don't need him know_ Cause they will lose people one way or another. Let's just hope that this unit can stay healthy and then we are able to just watch them Eat all year!
On that note I laughed as I did this one straight up on PFN and thought to myself I sure wouldnt complain if this happened lol. Had to do the WE NEED OL draft without the overgrabs
As much as everyone wants us to draft draft draft O line. Literally our line consists of guys with 3 years or less of total development in the NFL. There is something to be said for continuity and just overall growth. Most linemen take 2-3 years to even get a full NFL body and stamina let alone get used to the speed and talent. I think it fair to say if we did nothing we would still improve just through growth alone. Adding talent is great but all these mock drafts picking up 6 linemen is not gonna do much for us lol. Also PFF draft and PFN are SOOOOO different in ranking players lol. Had stopped using PFF after there rankings were so worthless the last 2 seasons.
Been saying this all year. 9 of the 10 guys currently on the roster are 3 years or less. Coaches and evaluators have been saying that college does not prepare OLine players for the NFL. Too many weaknesses due to what I call Madden ball. Also, several long time coaches are bemoaning the CBA. No hitting in practice. OLine needs consistency more than any other position group. Five guys as one unit. Everyone talking up Fries this offseason. Took him 3 years to get “good”.
Usual comment. Mock Drafts are always wild to my eyes with a lot of over and under valuing of players, and it's way too easy to make trades and stack your draft both in the current season and in the future. But they are a terrific way to learn new names in the Day 2 & 3 areas. So based on PFN:
#18 Loveland - I wasn't sure about this as i think he goes way earlier but lets assume teams were warnend off by injury and other needs. My alternate pick here would have been Jihaad Campbell, damn that kid is good.
#50 Savaiinaea - I think at NFL level he should move inside and be our version of Mailata
#52 Ratledge - Double dipped inside. Sometimes you just draft the really solid proven entity. A little figuing out to do with specific positioning of our options but at least we have options!
#82 Ewers - My guy! Future at QB secured with zero pressure to start, but we know how 3rd rd qb's go when we splash on a FA QB...
#92 Josaiah Stewart - MM should be able to get a lot out of a DE/Edge tweener with Stewarts skillset, it's more DL depth. Toyed with a WR here but with Loveland early on seemed better to go D.
#137 Shemar Turner - Another DLine tweener but more DT/DE than Edge, potential but not expecting fireworks immediately.
#172 Jake Majors - I'm a fan and think he goes much earlier than this, but if a player with that consistency and experience is there you take him and plug him in and reap the rewards.
#175 Seb Castro - A smart hard hitting DB i think really fits MMs scheme. Plus Iowa always makes good DBs. Neat rotation piece.
#223 Maxen Hook - Again i like getting proven players, and Hook is one of the most proven in all of CFB. More DB depth and rotation with smarts and physicality.
#234 Jimmy Horn Jr - K/P Return option and field stretcher, maybe he'd surprise and be useful, idk, it's our last pick and really it's the return duties i like.
I have made the mistake of clicking on sporskeedia too many times. And I HAVE an AdBlocker, and it's Plus even. But that site is pure garbage, even tho I fall for it when they have a headline that makes me click. Just like other trash links on Twitter, I see a link with a headline so specific that I just have to read it. And then ads all but close my page, and sometimes even do that. Over a headline that I knew was bait.
I don't fall for Nigerian princes or dead relatives seeking me to leave their estates. But whether you show me, "How new Seahawks NFL Star QB Sam Darnold is exactly Matt Hasselbeck" or "Teen Tick Toc Star Tiki Tashi joins MTV VeeyJay Kennedy in debating the Belgian House of Congress on censorship issues," I'm going to click it. I can't not. Even though I I care nothing about the story. And I know that when I can even read it, it's almost always a nonstory.
OK. The simulator is silly today, and I tried not to to draft players who simply were unlikely to be available, despite the sim.
Also...I'm not an evaluator. I tend to draft using what little I remember but, really, what this means is: I'd take a player the Hawks believed in who played THIS position at about THIS spot. So I'm not really quibbling about the name of the player, although I certainly make an effort to choose players who I think fit.
(18) Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas
(50) Marcus Mbow, OT, Purdue
(52) Harold Fannin Jr., TE, Bowling Green (yeah, I dunno, but...)
(82) Jaylin Noel, WR, Iowa State
(92) Jared Wilson, C, Georgia
(137) Will Howard, QB, Ohio State
(172) Jack Kiser, LB, Notre Dame
(175) Malachi Moore, S, Alabama
After that the draft cut me off. I suspect I took too much time and lost the last two picks. (This is nfldraftbuzz.com.)
It's more offense than I meant it to be, but sometimes that's how it goes.
Who knows if this would play out, and there were some extremely intriguing trade offers I seriously doubt Schneider would have passed on (esp to get 2nd/3rd rd picks in 2026) but I'd be ecstatic if the board fell to us like this.
I hope our D-line is dominate, it makes the rest of the D so much easier to operate (ie good D-line pressure makes the secondary more likely to see quicker forced passes that can get defensed or picked). It'll be interesting to see how the personnel are utilized.
18. James Pearce Jr
50. Xavier Watts
52. Xavier Restrepo
82. Terrance Ferguson
92. Savion Williams
first time using PFF site...Don't like only 3 rds and I really don't like the big board rankings although that may be how it goes come draft day. And I know we need O-line help, I would draft Ajani Cornelius Next...although I do like Jacob Parish.
It wasn't long ago that the Hawks had perhaps the worst D-line in the league. What a difference a few years make. Now the question is how long does it take the O-line to come around?
I always wonder how much of the O-line underperforming is due to poor coaching. Obviously I have no way of making that evaluation but based up SSJ's recent article on O-line draft positions it seems that a decent line can be put together w/o a lot of high picks on the interior.
I've got a real infatuation with Tyler Warren, prob out of our reach and as you say, Schneider doesn't trade up in the 1st, but man would I love to have him. Look at what Kittle gives SF. Just think that extra yard or two for Walker to the strong side, and the extra 3rd down conversions just past the sticks, would be game-changers for the 'Hawks esp since we gotta assume Kupp will only play 7-8 games (if he plays more, we made a great signing!)

Always appreciate advise with links. Oh, I'm a poet.
Crud. I hadn't seen that one.
