Seahawks mid-tier free agent targets

These 4 players could be better than big name free agents: They could be realistic targets for John Schneider

Seaside Joe has had a relatively good track record of identifying free agents that the Seahawks either sign or attempt to sign, but it’s not a credit to genius or inside info leaking out of the front office: It’s common sense.

The Seahawks have a uniquely consistent track record in free agency and a general manager going into his 17th (!!!) offseason with the team.

John Schneider does not swing big in free agency and he told us in no uncertain terms why that is when he said “guards get overdrafted and overpaid”. He was talking about guards specifically in that instance, but I would bet that Schneider thinks all free agents get overpaid.

Especially the ones who will headline those top-100 lists out there right now, drawing more eyeballs on name recognition than what really matters: Values.

Who was a better value as a free agent than DeMarcus Lawrence? $11 million per year. None of the players on this list are in Lawrence’s boat because he was a cap casualty and he’s in his mid-30s, but the essence is the same: Good NFL players who might get paid like Mediocre NFL players in the hopes that Seattle’s coaching staff can make them Really Good NFL players.

These 4+ options make sense to me and will almost certainly be available and affordable:
