I'm a bit surprised they haven't signed a veteran center or ILB in free agency yet. I have no doubt that these will be draft targets, but I would think Pete would hedge his bets with some mid-tier vet competition at those positions where experience and communication play a more important role. More to come, I'm sure.
Love sounds like an ascending player and a good fit for our defensive scheme.
I go back to what I said about Barton. A year ago, the Seahawks went into the draft with Stone Forsythe and Jake Curhan. They aren't going to fill positions in March just to fill them. Pete doesn't care that much about C, as much as that hurts fans who want to see an upgrade. He's draft a lot of LBs and I think he would have taken a lot more if not for Bobby and KJ being so great for so long. I wouldn't overthink it, the Seahawks just don't feel any panic at this positions and their priorities are going to be based on who they think is affordable for their tastes and what's out there. Plus with the second-most draft capital in the NFL, they will be addressing stuff in April. Not to mention there will still be names out there who can start at C and ILB literally in July. Even if they aren't ideal candidates, it's just how teams operate sometimes.
All true. This time last year, and even after the draft, I was really concerned about our cornerback situation and thought our D-line would be a strength. We just don't know with new players and position groups until the games start getting played.
Enjoyed reading the article. It's much better than reading another running backs don't matter article that is one of the lead stories on another Seahawk centric site.
Man those Bush highlights take me back. He was a force at MICH and when the Steelers drafted him I thought he would be on his way to a stellar career. It hasn't happened and I haven't seen enough of him in the NFL to know why not. There is no doubt the talent is there but it has not worked out so far. I would love to see him signed in Seattle on a 'prove it' kind of contract.
Given our ILB situation is currently: 1) Broken Brooks, 2) Currently Not Broken Rhattigan, 3) Vi Jones - a player I genuinely didn't know was a Seahawk - we really can't be that picky at this stage in proceedings. Still, play it slowly and if we got Bush & Wagner on one/two year deals I'd be on fully board - just because as much as I'm a formations maverick I don't think we could get away with a 3-2-6DB line-up
Has me wondering if they're trying to fill positions of "need" through FA so they can go BPA in the draft. They haven't talked to any RBs and let two of them go in FA...oh god we're drafting Robinson at 5 aren't we?
Or at least they want everyone to think he is a target. With Dallas releasing Zeke, Bijan has to be Jerry's preferred target. JJ loves him some early 1st round RB. I don't think Bijan makes it to #26 so how far is JJ willing to trade up to get him? If he is there at 20 and Dallas doesn't come calling we should call them and say "just thought we would tell you first, Bijan is ours!" and hang up. Then wait 10 seconds and see if they flinch.
Pete knows his greatest weaknesses are on defense, so it's not surprising to see him look for immediate help on that side of the ball in free agency, whereas he isn't exactly sure how soon a rookie will be able to contribute. It would be a little surprising if DT and LB weren't two of the first five picks, if not two of the first four.
Article on Evan Brown coming soon. Seahawks get a center.
Well, never mind about that last comment then :)
Joe writes so much and so often, it's almost not safe to make comments. 🤣🤣

The dregs of free agency. I'm not much interested in any of these guys. Go young. Go rookies.

Bush even as a hedge against the guy(s) you have targeted in the draft would be a good option I would think.
Love in, Adams out? (Post June1st).
Prob not, but I wouldn’t hate the idea.
