Can the Chargers afford to pay him more than us? I feel that at his age he is not likely to leave the west coast and the thought of him in SF makes me sick. The Raiders are even less a contender than the Bolts so to me it is a bidding war between team familiarity and staying put to play for the other team in town. I might be wrong and he brakes our hearts to play for SF and chase another ring but if he truly believes he will play more than 1 more year then maybe he comes back to us on what is essentially (if not overtly) a 2 year deal that can be renewed on an annual basis and keeps his cap hit from being annually cost prohibitive. I personally would opt for a 2 yr $18 million with a backloaded salary (since the Rams have to already pay him $3.5 mil this year). $7 Mil Bonus, $3 Mil Salary for 2023 (fully guaranteed), and $8 mil for 2024 (injury guarantees only). This allows the team and player flexibility moving forward. Not to mention it guarantees him a minimum of $10 mil at signing for 1 year of play (plus the 3.5 from the FTR's and whatever the injury guarantees might be).

Fill the team with:

Difference makers, Game wreckers, Ball breakers, Soul shakers, Play makers, and Beast-quakers.

Bobby's 2022 season showed flat-out, that when he is supported with studs up front, he still has the chops to deliver. He played 2022 very well and remained healthy - what further proof is needed to have him as a Seahawk for the 2023 and 2024 seasons?

Wagner's availability is just one more reason why we can't pay Geno $30+ million next year. Maybe Geno comes back on a multi-year contract with a low cap hit next year but I want Bobby back.

It would be great to get Bobby Wagner back for tye next year or two. Perhaps the Seahawks could use Bobby more to hunt the quarterback. I think 6.5 sacks is Wagners best season for sacs.

I would love to get Bobby back, but as I wrote last night I don’t think it would be in his interest to come back if he wants to play meaningful football in January.

I am sadly becoming more and more convinced Geno is moving on. Kenneth your arguments are persuasive though I still don’t believe it will be Tampa. My thought is Washington is more likely. Washington can free up more money than we would like to pay by cutting Carson Wentz. If I was Geno I would also rather play for Bieniem despite what a former running back is saying. Bottom line it is though it really doesn’t matter were Geno goes so much as we starting over.

Now maybe maybe Drew Lock will surprise everyone again but lighting striking twice is not something I would bet on if I was Bobby. After all he was not longer in the building when Drew came in so why would he believe in Drew as a replacement for Geno. The Bottom line is by letting Geno walk we are saying that we are willing to tread water at best until we get a young QB comparable to Mahomes, Allen, or Burrow. That’s going to be awhile if ever.

It certainly going to be longer than Bobby’s window. Buffalo though has Allen and they have an opening at Inside LB. If Buffalo wants him why not go there.

Bottom line if your Bobby why do you want to play for a team that is in the process of rebuilding?

"And I think the coverage aspect is not as valuable as some are leading you to believe. "

Are you referring to Barton's coverage skills or do you think LB coverage skills are overrated as defensive component?

We've long had a weakness in the middle zone. Tanner Muse showed better coverage skills than we had seen for a few years. Bobby's pass coverage grade for LA was 77.1 versus 62.8 for Seattle in 2021. Barton's coverage grade was 60 and Brooks' was 40.7. Anything we can do to improve that area will be noticeable.

Wagner's 2022 PFF grade was 20 points higher than 2021 and LA used him differently. Do you think we would learn from the way LA used him?

Finally, why is Brooks so bad at coverage? If he loses speed from the knee surgery he could be a bigger liability in pass defense than he already is.

I like Wagner (of course). But I also like Barton.

Any new player coming into a team and competing against the likes of Wagner and Wright, both veterans, hasn’t got a chance. Way too much to ask from Barton.

So, essentially Barton’s had a single year in the NFL at playing level. Yes he’s been on the team and seen the field a few times prior, and would have learnt from that, but anyone who has played sport at a good level knows it’s consistent game time that really improves your game. I thought Barton showed improvement as he got more consistent game-time last season.

He appears to me that maybe he doesn’t have the god-given natural talent that a Wagner was blessed with. Rather he has to work his arse off to get to that level, and with his obvious enthusiasm and ‘want’ to be at NFL level, I believe he will be a valuable starter if he is continued to be given consistent game-time.

In short, I think you’ve been a bit harsh on a player who essentially just had his rookie (full) season Joe.

Love the quote and I agree. Barton to me is one of the best athletically built LBs who has zero football instincts. I’d rather have a LB with the best instincts and subpar athletic ability. Of course, Bobby has it all, and he’s a good teammate to boot.

No and just no to bringing back more over the hill gang. The hawks need to stay young and/or get the younger set more and better coaching. No point in sucking up more cap space for another 1 year wonder. Stick with Barton. And get the cap under control.

And forget the fairy tale of Geno Smith, the hawks can't afford him right now. They need to fix the foundation (DL and OL)

No point in a new QB if they spend more time on their back because the OL can't stop Edward Hoogerbeets from busting up every play.

No point in a new QB if they never get on tht field because the latest runing back for the opponent racking up another rushing record. Or their QB passing for 1000 yds, because the DL is porridge. (yes it's a DL problem if th QB has 5 min to find a receiver)

They don't need another TE or the latest super WR if you can't get them the ball. They need at least 2 IDL and a center and G. C&S are going with Lock this year, and maybe a late round QB.
