If it's a good year and therefore Seattle has too many mouths to feed, I'm guessing they:

- count on another healthy increase in the cap

- restructure Geno (look how old Cousins is...)

- extend DK

- also restructure Williams Uchenna and Fant

- cut Lockett and Dre'Mont (depth charts be damned, wanna roll with Mafe!)

Should get 'em close...

What a weird comment from the moderator (the discussion starts at about 47 minutes in).

But the moderator asked "who is this year's Detroit Lions ... by December 31st we are not gonna believe this team has risen to this level." ... The other guy says the Seattle Seahawks. And then the moderator says the quote that Joe pointed out (“Seattle feels like they’re one and done…The wheels will fall off next year if they do not at least, I think, capitalize on some things, right?”)

Which makes no sense because the Lions were not an all-in team last year and are considered one of the top teams in the NFC

Then the moderator doesn't elaborate on what he means by wheels falling off or who needs to capitalize. Which kind of stands in stark contrast to what the interviewee is talking about who goes on to say talk about how good Geno Smith is ... "the metrics show that he is a way better quarterback than public perception" <- another day another example of a national media member figuring it out.

It's funny because, the way I hear this, is A) they don't understand the cap (which is probably not possible given their background) or B) the moderator unknowingly is saying that Geno Smith's wheels will fall off and the fairy tale ride will end. Which if that were to happen (I don't think that will happen but anything is possible) then yeah I think 2025 and beyond could be very rough with Sam Howell or a rookie. (Although I wouldn't be surprised if JS doesn't call up Lock, if he hasn't already won the starting job already in NY)

Geno Smith is just the story that keeps on giving. It is fascinating.

"Seattle fans (many of whom have also stuck by THE MARINERS)"

Yeeaahh, the M's get help from another team to beat that ole' team we really don't want to recognize 'n then we lose to a team we "could" beat, over 'n over again. ... but we still root for them.

It's an odd comment. I agree that the only reason to worry about our cap situation is if we find ourselves with too many good players at the end of the season. That's a problem I can live with, and if we get there, then maybe it's time to go all-in.

Salary cap “experts” are a dime a dozen. If they were all as good as they see themselves, NFL teams would have snapped them up a long time ago.

Success (S)= "please get off the damn field on 3rd down"

Getting off the field on 3rd down = "please just make a tackle" or "please get some kind of pressure on the QB"

2023 Offensive Efficiency

S= ____________________

3rd downs ÷ (Qb pressures + tackles)

Simple maths, y'all

Great look and look back. I am not changing any opinion I had earlier for multiple reasons, But especially now that they did Sign Connor at center. My true big worry at this juncture is at LB. I actually believe with just a little time to grow together this can be a really good team, This Year! If nothing else I see JS as spreading his wings a bit now that he is fully in charge, and so far he appears to be doing an Excellent job!

I got a little chuckle out of this after todays reading:

“Hyped to see the Seahawks make an all-in move.”

Glad he’s hyped (I am also excited) but I would not consider the $3M signing today to be an “all in” move either.

Also, how did you find the one 10 second clip in an hour podcast that mostly had nothing to do with the hawks? 😂😂😂 amazing

When I hear of a new Seahawks move, I check in with the guys who have something more to say than the size of the contract or a small amount of background on the new hire. Because of timing, it's usually Corbin's podcast, then SJ for thoughts, then Viens, mostly to get hyped up about my Seahawks.

When all three seem somewhat hyped up, I have a good day. Haven't seen Viens yet, but I know where he's going. Have a good day, y'all.

Seattle's Superbowl odds are around 1% as of now. I would take that bet. I get $100.00 for every dollar I bet. I actually believe our odds of winning the Super Bowl are much higher than that. Like maybe 50/1 instead of 100/1.

My primary reason for believing the above is that Geno Smith is much better than he is given credit for, and HE IS GETTING BETTER.

As SSJ likes to point out, the most important ingredient for winning a Superbowl is having an elite QB, and I am predicting just that. Why? Because by all accounts, Geno is sharper this year than in any previous year. and ...

DK, JSN, and Bobo will all have improved years over last year. Our OL will be significantly less injured with a noticeable improvement in their overall play. All of that coupled with an improved defense will make this offense top 5.

Our opponents are worse this year as well. SF is already falling apart. Injuries and Cap casualties are taking their tolls already. McCaffrey is nicked up already, and who believes all of their skill players will remain uninjured like they did almost all of last year? LA will be shell of who they were last year due to the best defensive player of the decade is no longer on their team, and they have no replacement. Arizona will likely be improved, but will they still have a good starting QB by the time we play them? History tells us that isn't likely. Our opponents are not bad, but with improved play on both sides of the ball, I expect way more wins than losses, and a playoff birth.

By the time the playoffs begin we will be rounding into shape, riding high and hungry to prove ourselves. With a little luck, we could find ourselves in the Super Bowl and having the times of our lives.

Wheels falling off...not sure about all that? There are however lots of contracts expiring and/or able to be maneuvered out of next year....maybe that's all they are referring to? It could be a 'cleaning out the house' kind of vibe next year depending on how it comes together (or not) this year.

We were lucky to have Russ for as long as we did. I always felt that our super bowl window was open while Russell was in his prime.
