Regardless of who is the QB , the O-line must be fixed and not patched! It all starts with a top notch Center! The most important unit on Offense after the QB!

This article was kind of a tortured analogy.

I wouldn’t make long-term commitment to any QB not named Allen, Burrow, Herbert, Jackson, or Mahomes.

There is love in the NFL for only a handful of truly existential players. For the vast majority it's like employees in any large corporation. The didn't 'love' Russell either, and appeared willing to move on long ago had the stars aligned. It's business. Of course they went and found a 2nd QB. Of course they'll add another if they think that makes them better. They'll continue shopping in every isle until they feel they have a long term answer.

Gino is 34, so probably not it, but he's a good QB. Howell is TBD, but maybe. None of the QB's in this draft are remotely a sure thing. But, if you don't buy anything, you'll never know if the product is any good. So draft a damned QB John.

Hey Joe! Tim O’D here. Stoked for the glasses win! Woot!

Didn’t receive email from you and can’t find a way to email you through substack. Tried to reply to post through email but it sends directly to substack and I don’t think you received it as it was a while back. I’ll keep trying. Keep writing my friend!

Really have I read this article before. Geno’s a bridge. How long that bridge is anyone’s guess but he is a bridge. Whether he is a bridge to nowhere is again anyone’s guess but the odds aren’t great. Is he bridge to Howell. Only if Geno gets injured or the Seahawks truly suck both possible. Is Howell the answer unlikely but again not out of the realm of possibility (presently he does nothing better the Geno). What I do is I know is that as long as Geno is the Seahawks quarterback, I can expect multiple articles on this subject. I know that others love them but I don’t. What I do love is the rest of the coverage I learn a lot. But what am I suppose to learn from this that has not been written in multiple articles.

While Pete had Geno pulling the trigger out of bounds to absolutely avoid injury, my bet is MM will be all over him for doing so this year. Geno will soon see his job is to get downfield by standing his ground looking for someone to come free. Period. We watched as Pete got all over him the minute he began to use anger as a motivator, rubbing his belly-core-chakra and urging Geno to Go Zen. Good in/bad out. Breathe. There we go... Toss it out of bounds if you're losing your Safe Space. Just do everything I ask...

I am hoping JS gets him some protection this year. The cold reality still is he'll be the guy who rides herd on an almost all-new offensive line finding how to dance together and he'll be doing it at 34 years old. Do the math. Or is it arithmetic?

I see a 3rd QB as a lock. I trust JS has unique instincts, be it the 3rd round or 7th. Hell, I liked Ahlers and he was a walk-on. Where'd he get off to?

As a lover of Love Is Blind and a daily reader of SSJ, this was a fantastic piece of writing.

Uh, Ken.... "I almost gave up on Love Is Blind entirely, but season six was so entertaining and gave us arguably the worst/best couple in TV history..." I know you like reality TV but you have WAY more tolerance than I do! I would not get past season 1, episode 2 lol.

Maybe it is because I just watched Draft Day again, but I still think it is possible there is a trade coming that is going to net the Seahawks some 2024 draft capital.

Who is the Bo Callaghan in the draft this year, and do the Seahawks want him?

There's only a dozen or so teams that SHOULDN'T be looking at replacing their QB, so why should the Seahawks be any different? Turn over every stone in the field until you find one. And as players like Kurt Warner have shown, they can come from anywhere, including the supermarket check-out line.

I guess that is one perspective.

The other perspective is that this is just what good organizations do. How many orgs are not looking to upgrade at QB? Chiefs and Bills? 2 out of 32. The other team in that Howell trade was the Rams. Does that mean the Rams aren't committed to Stafford?

What about when JS wanted to trade Russ and Pete had the final veto. Even after that Russ played another 4-5 seasons.

Look, Geno is 33 you need to have a succession plan in place. This is no differnet than when the Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers when they had Brett Favre. I believe Favre was 35 at the time about. He then went on to play 3 more years! That is exactly what could happen with Geno. A QB could slip, they could draft him, and allow him to compete for the starting spot that may take him 3 years to win. Same thing happened with Rodgers and Love.

For me... the most important things are what have actually happend:

- Gave Geno a chance to win the starting job and he did. Catapulting himself into MVP talks. Producing back to back winning seasons with one of the worst defenses in the league and no offensive line.

-Signed Geno to a 3-year deal ($75M gaurateed)

-Lock potentially felt that he would not beat out Geno even with a new coaching staff that he left to compete against a younger and higher paid QB (Danny Dimes)

- Seahawks sign a cheap, young backup and immediately come out and say that this is nothing more than getting a young guy they are excited about who could back up Geno

Also, what is a firm commitment in the NFL? Its all a myth. Everyone is constantly playing for their jobs every game and year. Geno is no different. All you have to do is look at Russ. What more commitment could the Broncos give to him with a $200+ contact for 7 years and then they cut him. Commitment means nothing, on field play means everything,

From article: "On the other, he (Howell) had one of the worst coaching staffs and supporting casts in the league; how would Howell have played last year if he was playing at Washington or LSU?"

Why is Sam Howell afforded this excuse and Geno Smith is not? Also, correction, Sam Howell played on a team that had a better defense and a better offensive line. Geno Smith played on a team with one of the worst defenses, worst offensive lines and still went 17-15. We should be asking what Sam Howell would look like on the Seahawks last year? Probably would've got sacked a ton and turned the ball over a ton leading to about a 3-4 win season.

Overall, all the Geno Smith talk is crazy to me. It has gone from the Hawks won't sign him to the Hawks will trade him to the Hawks will draft a rookie to ....

At the end of the day, talent wins. And Geno is just a good QB. I hope one day a rookie or young player will beat him out, but that day is unlikely (not impossible) to be soon.

I might have an odd view on this situation with our QB shopping as of late. The way I see this going is that John and Co. have been talking to as many QB's as they can over the last two years and, most likely, over the next several years to scout these kids for when they become free agents after their rookie deals.

I feel like they are taking their time getting to know these kids and giving them the chance to get to know Seattle and the organization. These are recruiting trips on the team to make that possible switch at some point in the future. If they find that rare gem they are sold on I do think John will sell the farm to get them if need be. The only flaw in my argument is that if these guys are great at the next level, the drafting team will not let them hit free agency. Either way, it is due diligence and planting seeds for the future. I do also believe that the more kids they meet at this position, the better they will get at evaluating talent in the future. It's a no-lose situation and doesn't really have anything to do with Geno but the future that they and Geno know is coming

I am hoping desperately that Schneider believes Sam Howell is the answer. And that he’s measuring Howell with each of these QB draftees/alrernatives he’s talking to. Because we only have 7 picks and only 2 in the top 100, and have so many needs still. To spend one on a QB that won’t even help on special teams next yr is depressing to me. Maybe it’s our reality but man…..

Guess lighting could strike twice and a 3rd rd rookie could once again start Week 1, but….
