Joe I've been looking a little deeper at Mike Vrabel bc it sounds like if Seattle were to offer to him, he'd come (although who knows how credible that info is, right?).
He seems to tick an awful lot of boxes:
- the defensive aggressiveness and grit that characterized Seattle at its best
- has a .545 winning % despite questionable ownership and gm in Tennessee
- has a pedigree of success on the field that translates to player credibility
- had Arthur Smith as an OC -- got poached, but he's proven he can work with a strong OC
- feels like a Seahawks culture kind of guy
He's moving up strongly on my list. Right now, after Ben Johnson I've got him as my #2. Am I crazy?
Kenneth I have a question- I am less interested in what the Seahawks should do than in what they will do. Based on what you know about John - what do think the Seahawks will do?
And the Seahawks are interviewing Quinn and Smith. Could be interviewing Harbaugh, Vrabel and Belichick. No way to know on those three unless their agents leak.
Let's go out on a limb. No, let's get way out into the twigs: California takes a staggering amount in income taxes from anyone working in the State. The State is hemorrhaging residents, mostly productive folks, leaving a plummeting standard of living in the big cities. Last year, I recall Sean McVey was rumored to be leaving... Hmm. Nah... Still, I wonder what his contract looks like. If the decline continues, we can expect to see teams looking elsewhere, assuming local fan revenue stays important. In any event, this stone was turned over here at Seaside.
I've been reading the internet and I know the answers!
Seriously, I've spent at least 30 minutes reading the internet and I've got this all figured out.
DQ isn't the answer. Scratch him off of the list. Seahawks need an offencive minded coach and even if we, foolishly, hire a defensive minded coach it shouldn't be Dan Quinn. He took sombody elses (Atlanta) team to the Super Bowl and had the worst 4th quarter collapse of all time, and he got totally outsmarted yesterday by GB OC Adam Stenavich yesterday.
Oddly enough, I don't think much is going to change in the Dallas coaching situation. Maybe DQ gets hired away and then replaced, but I don't MMc will be fired. I didn't see any bad coaching mistakes that would cost a coach his job. The Cowboys didn't play well, but that's more on the players then the coaches.
I promise there will be a huge player turnover though. They have 16 players on the 53 man roster who are going to be free agents and Dak is going to cost about $59.4M next year. That sounds like a window slamming shut to me.
That is logical but we are talking about Dallas. Jerry Jones 2 weeks ago stated he would evaluate the coaching after the playoffs. MM won 12 games but played an easier schedule and had 12 pro bowl players and the NFC’s top performing QB in regular season. Pete had 3 pro bowl players and still won 9 games against a tougher schedule. To run it back again will require mortgaging the future. Otherwise they are blowing it up in big D.
What I know about hiring an NFL head coach could fit on a gnat’s hangnail. For me, it comes down to how much confidence I have in John Schneider. As I have middling confidence in Schneider, I’m going to take a wait-and-see perspective no matter who he hires.
I have my druthers, no question. My druthers and $4 will buy a latte.
I want a genius capable of not only recognizing other geniuses that can teach football as well as they talk it, but capable of integrating their ideas into a senior staff that brings along the players and the junior staff...so that when the team of geniuses gets hired away, there will be pipeline in place.
That, and a nice MLT, where the mutton is lean, and the tomato is ripe.
Tell you what though: very tired of all the Steelers promo reels for their game being shots of them steamrolling the Hawks on the ground. Maybe only our station but OMG is it ever sickening. 😡
Kinda glad Quinn’s defense got blown into the weeds. Think he’s the “safe” hire but has never struck me as a McVay/Shanahan and if we’re going to fire a Hall of Fame coach, we shouldn’t be doing the “safe” thing -- safe would be Pete Carroll.
Here’s another vote for Steve Wilks if someone else on your list falls off...

Dallas Job will most likely open today.

You should do a vision board for the next HC. Maybe we can put some good feelers into the universe on whoever is chosen to take the reins.
Oh yeah, I meant to do something but forgot. Thank you
Great minds think alike:

Or at least a survey post Pete departure
Harbaugh is just teasing the Chargers (I hope)...

A latte would go nicely with my MLT.
Hah!

I love a nice MLT, where the mutton is thin and lean.. they're so perky like that
MLT, isn't that Princess Bride?
👍

NEVER AGAIN SHALL WE BE RUN OVER LIKE THAT!!
I want a genius who calls his own plays. Other than that, I am complacent. I will support anyone but Harbaugh.

Thank you, I will keep Wilks in line for tomorrow.
