Seahawks Injury Updates: Devon Witherspoon, Tyler Lockett, Vi Jones
Seahawks sign a DT and Shelby Harris gets a new team: 8/9/2023
In his first opportunity to play in a Seattle Seahawks uniform, cornerback Devon Witherspoon will unfortunately be unavailable. Head coach Pete Carroll told the media…no, the world…that Witherspoon’s been bothered by a hamstring issue this week (same leg as in the spring, but apparently a different area of the hamstring) and the team is going to be cautious with his availability.
That has kept the fifth overall pick from practicing ahead of Thursday’s preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings at Lumen Field and though he may not have played anyway, out of the game as well.
The Seahawks had a light walkthrough on Wednesday to prepare for their first preseason action and as fans, our first glimpse into which players who aren’t expected to have starting roles are maybe ready to shine in the TV spotlight. The Jake Bobo, Cody Thompson, Wayne Taulapapa, Robert Cooper, Tyreke Smith, Jonathan Sutherland, and…Michael Dickson show.
But not, sadly, the Vi Jones or Josh Onujiogu show.
Pop Quiz Hot Shot: This topic will come up later but I’ll ask you the question now…The Seahawks lost 23-0 to the Dolphins in the first game of the 2000 season, as Jon Kitna was intercepted four times. Who did Mike Holmgren replace him with during the game?
There was a lot of Seattle Seahawks-related news on Wednesday and I’ll briefly drop that information here for you now. (Bang bang there is a lot of bonus content this week—3 players to watch against the Vikings—and there will be more after the game) so if you feel like Seaside Joe’s effort is worth it:
