Thoughts… The Seahawks now control their own destiny to win the NFC west division. We don’t need to hope teams lose to have a chance at winning. Missing 3 starters in the DB room had me thinking the offense would need to bail out the defense. Kudos to the DB backups, MM’s scheme, and the D-line for proving me wrong. To my eyes, J Reed was the only player who left the game for injury, so hopefully it isn’t serious and 8 days until the Texans will have us closer to full strength for a tough one at home. I still think the offense is getting better weekly as it gets more experience with the new system. Need to see better 3rd down efficiency moving forward, but I am very happy about the pass protection, so I can’t complain. I like no turnovers. Let’s see that continue. Darnold is so good on the deep ball, I think we should expect him to average 275+ yards a game moving forward. I thought the team would be close to but short of 4000 yards passing for the season, but I thought the running game would get 2400. I think K9 can still have a few big games of 100 plus, but I admit it’s not likely that the team hits 2400. I would love for K9 to hit 100+ against Washington and the Rams coming out of the bye. (Week 9 and 11) Winning those two games and beating the Texans would sure put us in great position.

Well, another W, and still with lots of room for continued improvement!

Coach MM dialed up more QB pressure to compensate for our depleted DB’s and that worked well along with Trevor’s penchant for inaccuracy.

JSN is All World as a receiver and along with Cooper K and AJ B they spread the ball around nicely.

Run game is still only marginally effective (can we please get rid of Bradford who is horrific!)…but, the run game and play action set up our passing game which is so much better than I dreamed it would be!!

We are 2-3 plays from being 6-0, so a lot to like about our Team!

I just watched the Bucs DISMANTLE the 49ers, so that made me feel a little better about last weeks disappointing loss.

49ers lost Fred Warner today to a gruesome injury, they are running CMC into the ground, so I see our main competition for NFC West as the Rams.

Lots of good ball to be played, but so far, so good - I really like our Coach, Team and chances to make some noise this year 🏈

Missed a good portion of the 1st half (good luck watching the game if you're at Jungle Island with your 3-yr-old grandson 😍) but did see more than half so here goes:

1. Was the 6th game in a row where I thought Seattle was the better team. Last year's record was similar but I never had that feeling. It's bc we're good in all three phases of the game; we are balanced offensively and defensively; appear to be making fewer mistakes than the opponents (disciplined?); and when we've lost, we've barely lost

2. SSJ predicted a JSN explosion and that's what we got. When I tuned in near halftime and saw a graphic of 117 yds already I about rammed the car in front of me

3. DeMarcus Lawrence has always been continues to be an absolute difference-maker. We beat TB if he had played

4. Leonard Williams is a fullblown beast, but that play where he ran down a WR that had slipped a tackle 30 yds downfield was from another planet. Is he the DPOY?

5. Byron Murphy is making Schneider look brilliant. Guys we had 4 sacks and 14 pressures from the INTERIOR DL, him and Williams. That's nearly impossible for an offense to overcome.

6. Darnold once again making the other QB look inferior. Wow, is he good or what

7. While I'm not enthralled by the result, it was interesting to read that after 6 games, Seattle has one more running play than it does passing plays. AWESOME!!

8. I've complained about Jason Myers but I think I'll stop now, considering how bad it could be (as we just witnessed)

9. The TD Jobe gave up was OPI, guy pushed him off in the back, otherwise was either going to be a PB or outright INT

All that said:

10. JSN cannot let his ego get ahead of him. On his way to being an all-time great, but learn from Koop young man, don't spin the ball, just beat him routinely and then block him into the ground. Humiliation that lasts....

11. The one sack Darnold took was him freezing, obvious blitz, could have easily thrown it away. One of the few times I've seen Darnold look like he did in last year's playoffs

12. Letting them go 3 for 3 on 4th downs?? C'mon man!

13. I love Tory Horton but that punt return where he couldn't juke the gunner and would have had at least 15 yd return if he had, wasn't great.

14. Unfortunately Bradford had himself another Tony Turnstile moment, managed to block Lucas instead of the defender and the RB got nailed 3 yds into the backfield. Gonna make the Blooper reel again...sadly...

Did I hear the Bucs have gone through 3 Guards? Maybe it is the 49ers.

Those can’t have been coverage sacks, right? So what did we do different?

Ok. I’m gonna call out Drake Thomas for having a really good game. He’s one of those guys who’s considered too small for an inside backer. He’s one of the names mentioned early in the season as to why we had inadequate depth at that position. Yet he made a lot of positive plays today. First sack, helped Jones stop the 2 pt. conversion attempt. He just seems to have a nose for the ball.

Emmanwori looked good today and even decent in coverage (which was his pre draft weakness). His tackling really popped today.

Damn you Chris Myers! You HAD to say Darnold hadn’t been sacked all game. Boom! A sack.

4-2, and 2 or 3 plays from being 6-0. I’ll take it.

Just keep getting better, Hawks.

JSN, Barner and Kupp all had 20+ yards per reception. Can you say explosive?

The game was at 4am here so I only caught the last 45 minutes or so. We often complain that the Seahawks always keep games unnecessarily interesting when they could win comfortably. I gotta say this 4th quarter was boring in the best possible way.

Some call outs for the game:

- DeMarcus Lawrence: He was a beast in this game with 5 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 5 quarterback hits. More of this, please.

- Byron Murphy: He had 4 tackles, 2 sacks and 4 QB hits. He is looking good this year.

- Seahawks defense: Held the Jaguars to 59 rush yards and a 3.1 average. Also generated a lot a pressure to take the pressure off of our pass defense. Welcome back Hawks D.

- Sam Darnold: Another good game in the basket.

- JSN: Another superstar performance.

- Seahawks running game: Keeping with it paid off in the end. The Jaguars totally bit on the play action that sprung Barner.

- Trevor Lawrence and the Jags receivers: Did a great job with the inaccurate passes and the dropped balls to help seal this one.

I now understand how and why our hard play up front with our big defense Trench Men directly affects the outcome of play in our backfield. Passes are not made or many are way off when the thrower is in wild flight for his life. Let's petition the League to fine Big Cat Williams weekly...

Jags Lawrence looked uncomfortable from the first play of the game when Murphy sacked him. The line really brought it today.

The Bengals have made Hendrickson questionable with a back injury. I don’t know if there was a play that showed something happening to him or not. Mid game back injury seems unusual. Interesting to see how this would relate to his status on the block.

I am not a fan of a Hendrickson trade for the Seahawks. I’d rather see if we can convince the Raiders it‘’s time to rebuild and get Crosby., or get an edge in round 1 next year.

It totally amazes me that the Seahawks get breaks on the road that allows them to add up the W's, but at home they can't dig out a decent win. Why is that?

Still can't believe the INT bounced up and behind our DB into the receiver's hands for a TD. Then gets called back lol

Does it matter where the sacks come from? Lawrence pressured on 50% of his dropbacks, our DL ate their OL for dinner - and for what’s it worth, Mafe looked like he should’ve been credited with a half sack today to break the OLB duck.

I saw at least a couple of plays by Bradford where he was falling over forwards or flapping at air. It’s tough once you have a bad reputation, deserved or otherwise, but when the run game is consistently dismal it’s hard not to be looking for easy scapegoats.

No Milroe plays this week thankfully, but the useless toss play to Charbs needs to join it in the garbage.

It matters if you can be consistent week to week. Looking forward to the Seahawks proving that they’ll continue to be this good for weeks ahead.

Kudos to a defensive backfield missing 3 starters (ok, maybe 2 starters and Woolen) to hold up pretty well against Lawrence. I thought Emmanwori looked even better than last week. The D-line was able to bottle up Etienne and constantly squeeze the pocket. Had we not had a comfortable lead, I think JSN would have had 250 yards. Watching the Niners now, the Rams now look like our #1 obstacle to make the playoffs.

Go Mariners!

I'm seeing our 3-and-outs start when Kubiak decides to implement long drives designed to allow our Defense to rest. The O-Line looks to downshift the intensity of effort. First-down run plays halt at the Center's butt.

Great game by Sam, but could have been extraordinary. He left a few throws short, one to JSN, one to Horton at least that I noticed, that would have been easy long completions. Horton's might have been a touchdown.

JSN is amazing, but the taunting penalty hurt. He's very, very confident, to the point of cocky, and backs it up. But, you can't spin the ball at the feet of an opponent.

The front 7 played a very good game. The DB's hung in there. Made some plays, and gave up some. But with the pressure the front was bringing, was able to do enough.

TE's didn't have a great blocking game, which showed up in the run game. It was like the Jags had noticed some tells, and were able to get penetration far too often.

I'll take a win. I thought it would be a tough game and it was. 4-2, with Texas next up. 5-2 going into the bye would be sweet......here's hoping.

The League is crazy for trying to limit emotion in a game often measured in Emotion. If spinning a football drives a man psychotic, then hire a psychiatrist.

Yeah, I get it. But the No Fun League has pretty clear taunting rules, and spinning a bill at the feet of your opponent is gonna fall into the 'Taunting Rules' every time. I thought he had gotten away with it, but the flag came in late.

If you're implying that after the bye we might get back a bunch of help on defense and possibly Ouzts and others on offense, I'm all ears. That sounds great right about now. I know we had good game statistically but there are still plenty of room for improvement with regards to edge play...Mafe, cough cough. Sam is a great ball player when his confidence is up, he's able to drive the ball well and I'm impressed with most everything other than occasionally he doesn't lead his receivers enough...throws behind our forces them to slow too much allowing the defender to catch up. Love the play action and when Ouzts gets back this league better realize we're for real.

Some head scratching series, especially once we were ahead. We've got to stomp on them when they are down. Too many freaking penalties, and some unnecessary ones (I'm looking at you JSN). Still, my blood pressure never got out of hand, so it was good.
