This is a great article on the RBs and what many of my posts have been about since the acquisition of Lock. It seemed many were writing the Hawks off because of the obvious subtractions, but it seemed to me--especially after the draft, the Hawks wanted the RBs to be more dynamic.

It's not just run first, but a balanced offensive attack that competes--even wins--time of possession.

Penny's burst through the line and home run potential, getting the ball to Walker in the flats, or on a wheel route, DJ and Travis spelling the top backs and creating other types of opportunities (little curls where you're getting the pass already at the second level, like they did this game).

Lock can hit those passes all day. In fact, that's the game I saw last year against KC to close the year. Lock handed the ball off, play-actioned to Fant and backs, took some shots downfield, and had the team in place to win when the RB fumbled near the 20.

Now if they can't tackle, cancel all of that

But otherwise, our RBs can make us the type of team that can go 4quarters with anyone.

As usual it is not so much we see and what we don't see... and what we don't see is Penny.

Why? He is nursing an injuiry.

The Seahawks have the *bare minimum number* of quality talibacks to be able to run Waldron's scheme. We know in a 17-game season there will be injuries.

It would not surprise me to see Penny on the shelf for 6-7 games throughout the season, and Walker will start those games.

Deejay--I was unhappy he did not get more snaps last year. Looking to 2023 Walker, Deejay, maybe Homer, and a draftee from 2023 will be the young core for this team.

Enjoyed your post

Fun to watch the running back clips

Could be that we might be a headache for some times this year in run game.

Homer is not elusive. He does not have the impact to stiff arm or resist tackles, even though he is strong.

He is super fast and strong, and has great vision of the field, though. And he's our best blocking back. On his first pass rep, he gets open after he checks in that the QB is properly protected (something that could have made us win the game if it was made in our last meaningful offensive play).

Against real opponents, Homer has had a way larger offensive impact than Dallas for as long as both have been part of our roster. In Special Teams, both are great. Dallas is our best gunner with 2 forced fumbles on returns last year, and we were the second best kick return team on the league with him as returner, while Homer is a special teams god, with a fake punt ran for TD and a onside kick return.

Every Seahawk back looked like a world beater on Saturday. That is great as I have never seen Homer or Dallas look faster. Travis is a captain on special teams and plays a big role. I think the Seahawks will resign him, as it is another opportunity to take care of one of theirs. Ken's contract is reasonable maybe add half a million to the first two years and add a dumby year. Dallas did make a statement that he could be a starter if Seattle needed him too. I love the way he returns kicks. He always gets to or past the 25, with a couple 35 to 40 yard returns. You've got to know Pete loves that as well. Trading Dallas I think is unlikely because of the injury woes Seattle has had over the years at RB. If Seattle did trade him he would come at a high price. Any team in a position to need him would be forced to pay. Dallas has improved, I do have to mention the competition was good not great. The move he put on the middle linebacker to get open for the touchdown is the way you would draw it up. I don't think there is a linebacker who could have stayed with him, and that is the way it is supposed to be.

Our crown jewel of the future KW lll will get his opportunity. I can see Pete starting Walker the first time Penny goes down. We all agree let's hope Penny starts all 17. Pete has already said pass pro is not an issue and Walker lll wants to be great at everything. Their is no doubt he has more ability to make people miss than most runningbacks. He is still young and 210 lbs, and with one or two off-season he will be a lean 220 lbs and just as fast. Other than, I would like to see him win rookie of the year, it may not be a bad thing that he doesn't get to many touches this year; allowing him to grow into his body.

Ken you have done a great job of spot lighting our runningbacks, not just because it's obvious. I believe we are in the same camp and hold these tough guys in great esteem unlike PFF who would do well to look at your Stat on how little impact 6th and 7th round RBs have had this century. We had the best one in Chris Carson who took on so many tacklers even his chiseled body broke down.

Having a stable full of quality RBs will make Pete happy !! So much is demanded of RBs to be steamrollers like Marshawn Lynch. Most end up on the injury list halfway thru the season. If all the RBs have a good preseason, best to keep them all. Why not rotate all three, to keep them fresh ?? Even iron horse Lynch got banged-up.

Check out what our OL is doing on these plays. On Homer's 10 yd run, Cross, Lewis and Bythe are sealing everyone inside while Haynes makes a nice kick out trap block. Fant also contributes. On DJ's 18 yd run, Curhan is 10 yards downfield and about to flat back the OLB. Let's hope this continues.
