Don't forget about the Jeremy Lane injury right before the half in the Pats Superbowl. In the second half Danny Amendola killed us.

GO HAWKS!!

I love Pete and the Pete years. But after the LOB aged out or suffered career-ending injuries, the players were just not there to implement the D he wanted to run. And Pete’s preferences on offence were not keeping up with changes in the game. I actually wish he and JS had traded Russ a year sooner, but Pete did want it to work out with Russ maybe even more than Russ did.

2024 is a clear departure point in so many ways—coaching, schemes, players—there is no longer any connection to the LOB years now that Bobby is gone again. And on offence we will see an OC run his vision in a way that never happened with Pete.

It is going to be a very interesting season!

Let's recall 10 years ago we had the Johnny Manziel phenomena, where he showed college coaches how a QB could take command of a game's outcome by himself. The world of coaching was in an uproar. Russ was playing similarly and I think Pete wanted to create a way to incorporate those scrambling skills into a viable offensive attack using a "roving pocket". It was all too much for our Big Guys to accomplish and stay healthy, as chaos is chaos where opportunities opened and disappeared in an instant. I applauded the effort and Pete earned his HoF in my book. It was all too much for professions built on Traditions.

Wow that was awesome SSJ! Some moments of a lifetime in there, for sure. And then like 4 straight years of no moments at all except the off-the-field one of the Wilson trade. Guess the moral of the story is, there gotta be moments!!

Thanks for this, was so cool!

Pete was loyal to a fault. Some of his coaching staff should have been fired earlier but because they told Pete what he wanted to hear, they stayed on past their expiration date,

Pete was right trying to get good running backs because if you can't run, the passing game falters. The Hawks, under Pete, were way too predictable on both sides of the ball and the league caught up to the schemes .

Plus they never adjusted to losing Cam " Bam," Sherman and Thomas, one of the best secondaries in NFL history.

Now, it's in with the new and out with the old. However the Pete years left us fans with some great memories. Memories I hope the new regime continues!

Thanks for getting me jacked for the season with those videos! Great takeaways from each year. Every now and then it's good to look back and take inventory of what we learn from our past so that we can appreciate our present and grow toward oir future. Top-notch, as usual.

Just joined the fantasy league. My first time ever. I guess every league needs a doormat team!

No doormats! Just participators in the fun! It's a lot of luck anyway

I'm thinking about joining but I am a virgin. What do I do? I need some hand holding. Old people have trouble learning new things.

1st you gotta get into the league by asking DewHub. Maybe he'll open a 2nd league if there is enough interest.

You want to Google the basics of fantasy football, and maybe check out some free sites that discuss it, like Fantasy Life, Fantasy Index, Fantasy Pros, etc. They all have pay services to get professionally created draft cheat sheets, or you can usually find free rankings online. In a nutshell, you sign up, then open the "draft" tab on the website or app at the scheduled time, and then we all take turns selecting players for our teams. Week-to-week, how well they perform statistically during their game gives us points. You compare your points vs your opponent's points to see who wins that week. You usually have an opportunity to pick up and drop players between games, called waivers or add/drop, too.

Yahoo, ESPN, and CBS Sportsline usually have free public leagues you can randomly join as well. It's just bad form to join and not play out the whole year, so be sure you are committed to whichever league(s) you join.

The point about the defensive coordinators shifting around is a good one. And there's something to also be said of the turnover of offensive coordinators. I'm curious how much of Pete Carroll's inability to surround himself with the right coaches prevented the Seahawks from ever reaching the Super Bowl a third time in his tenure.

The fantasy league is only 8 teams?

To start with. You can email John Kastner and ask for an expansion. Idk how many teams he wants to limit it to, though. 16 is a ton, 14 is large, 10-12 is standard size, and 8 is a little light.

Go to the link and look at the standings. Click his team and you should be able to clink a "send email" link by his name as owner of that team

I have expanded the league to 12 members now that the first 8 spots filled. If it continues to grow I will expand it further. Let me know if you have any other questions/concerns.

Thanks.

I'd join if you wanted to expand out to 14 or 16 teams. No big deal if not.

Lessons from the last 10 years of Seahawks football:

1) Take care of yo chicken

2) Take care of yo mentals

3) I'm just here so I don't get fined

I'm excited for the Get Got Pod

Reading back through all 14 years highlights the cruelty of being an NFL fan. Even through the best stretch in Seahawks history, most seasons end in bitter disappointment. I'm hoping that regardless of how this season ends, we'll see enough of what's coming to be really excited for next year.

Re 2014, there was also Jeremy Lane’s broken leg intercepting Brady in the end zone. Banged up as they were, the ‘Hawks were able to protect Tharold Simon from Brady until Avril went out. After that, well…Lane would have been helpful.

Your last point was the most significant. PC believed so much in certain players and especially coaches. For years I’ve been advocating for replacing certain guys. I too can’t believe he was DC for 4 years. Failed at it for Raiders. Likely very good asst but not the main guy. Bevell was another in my opinion.
