Man, our defense stinks! No need for elaboration but I'll say that Cody looked particularly bad. Flowers bad!
I'm a patient fan who wouldn't be outraged if the Hawks used this next draft to fill other positions of need through the high rounds and maybe took a flier on a QB they think has potential on day three. Perhaps your guy, McCall. Perhaps someone else who catches Schneider and Carroll's fancy.
Would be nice to have most of the pieces in place when a great QB prospect gets here. Mainly, I'm an advocate for drafting not only for need but also with a keen eye for value. Take a guy like Penny but not in round one when the consensus has him going in round three. Can't get too locked in on a guy.
Biggest disappointment of the year, no question, is Darrell Taylor. What happened? Can anyone who is football smart explain if this is a scheme or talent issue? Or both? Or neither? I thought we already at least knew his floor and had universal optimism about his ceiling. Is he just an amazing athlete that can't play football? Is mediocre pass-rush-specialist his new ceiling? Is there anything I can do, personally, to help him shed blocks and tackle?
I will be the first one to admit I was worried we might lose this game. Cody Barton needs to sharpen up, just to get back to being a good pro, as he did show well a couple of times. Letting Hockindon down the sidelines with a weak push towards the sideline is going to get him roasted in the film session. Bobby Wagner at $10 million is looking like a bargain. The reason Taylor is not starting, is he seems unable to hold the edge on run plays. This doesn't make him a total loss, he just needs to play on only obvious passing downs. I can't say I am surprised Goff cut us up as he has all but a couple of times. Today Goff did what got him cut from the Rams. He had acres of open field to run and even if he ran 5.5 40, he would have made a first down. Instead he through into double coverage on a ball that should have been picked. He did the same thing in our NFC West win but we made the pick.
Congratulations to Geno keep it going and you may get a fat contract. Well done Rashaad Penny !.despite Kenny Walkers Stat line looking average, he got every inch he could, there was a good run called back on a penalty. He looks dangerous, oh and how fast is Penny just blowing by those 2 safeties
-If this is Geno, I would support a 2023 draft where didn't take a QB until the third round or 2024. Build a contender then add the rookie QB as the final piece. Our needs at this point are defensive tackle, rush end, linebacker, center, guard, WR3, and CB. I'm omitting safety because Adams will be back next year be we clearly need an Adams type player as a back-up. With our cap situation (how much will Smith cost next year?) we should be able to fill one or two of those positions on the free agent market.
-Stock up... Mafe, Eskeridge (He wasn't great but he showed up. Even so, Smith had to tell him where to line up one time which doesn't look good in limited snaps).
-Stock down... interior offensive line.
-Let's remember that TJ Hockinson isn't just any old TE. That guy is a beast. Jamaal Williams had 19 carries for 108 yards. He had one carry for 51 yards and 18 carries for an average of 2.7 yards per carry.
-The Clemson vs NC State game was interesting. Leary does look good, more NFLish than Uiagalelei. Even with an int, Leary looked good at reading defenses. Uiagalelei looks built to survive the rigors of the NFL but I have no idea about Uiagalelei's to read defenses because Clemson is usually a better team and Uiagalelei runs a lot.
-Will Rogers, Hendon Hooker, Grayson McCall, Cam Rising, Jaren Hall all had good days
-Cam Ward and Mike Penix suffered two ints each but otherwise had good numbers. Penix should be credited for rallying his team in the second half.
The Seahawks defense is showing the NFL preseason is a scam ripping money off of ticket holders. They played and coached like they have never practiced at all. If they did, it didn’t matter. So why even do it!!!
When was the last time a Seahawk game was this fun to watch? I think maybe the KC game a few years back. And at this point I'm willing to cut Geno all the slack in the world.
Before we carried away with Gino and our offensive output, let's remember we beat a team who's defense is just a hair worse than ours.! Giving up 45 points to Goff, with their two best offensive weapons injured is pathetic .
The problem is that they don't have the personnel to play a 3/ 4 scheme.Their 2 LBs, a disruptive nose tackle and at least one DB. short.
It was nice to see Ryan Neal back out there--he is a sure tackler and after today is likely taking all of Josh Jones' snaps.
What on Earth is going on with Brooks? He is a better player than he is showing right now, but seems unsure of his assignments or ??? Cody Barton is going to lose his job as soon as Pete/John can find his replacement--that was absolutely brutal today from Barton.
But Woolen, hoo boy does he look like Sherman out there or what? He is, right now, the best CB on the Seahawks.
Geno is changing my mind about him. He stays within himself and runs the offense very well. There were more downfield throws today and those shots helped loosen up the D for Penny's runs.
93 points total. I laughed when one announcer said it was like watching a college football game. It was an honest game with too many flags but nothing in the game-changing bad call category.

It will be stunning if Geno Smith gets a fat contract. But impossible to deny if he played this way for the entire season.

-Possilbe addition to QB survivor, DTR-UCLA
I watched the highlights only from Clemson vs NC State, so I only got the 10-minute version, but I agree that Leary looked like the better QB.
Eskridge's stock, nowhere to go but up!
DTR is already in QBR Survivor!

I mean, fans should probably do their own boycotting of the preseason. But they won't.

They did score 51 points against the Lions not long ago, but maybe not as fun to watch.
I will happily take Geno's 48 points at $4,290 per point rather than Russ's 51 points at $55,960 per point.

First pick has to be D line (Anderson of Bama? )
A good team could have scored 90 points.
At this point I have to assume you are always misspelling his name on purpose.
Well excuse me!!!
Reminds me of Gina from the 40 year old virgin
I have been thinking this exact same thing every time I saw him type it like that.
His actual name is Eugene.
Does Grayson McCall play any defensive positions, any? 2nd and 23; no freaking problem.
The Lions would be casual on third down because they had no fear of fourth down.
What a fun game to watch!
Let’s hope the defense can figure something out. If they can average giving up 23 pts per game I will be happy.
Yes, the watchabilty index was much higher this week.

I wonder why Jones was ahead of Neal to begin with.
I think Neal was injured and did not play much in the preseason iirc?
Neal had a bad high ankle sprain that kept him out for over a montg
Brooks seems confused in the new 3/4 D.

You obviously missed the no-call endzone pass interference on DK.
"game-changing bad call"-- would it have changed the outcome?
Better to win with a lot of points than to lose with none.
Maybe the opposite of the 1992 Seahawks?
