Seahawks making QB (coach) change?
Leonard Williams film study, Tyler Lockett's replacement, and another person leaves Seattle for Pete Carroll
For the second time in as many cycles, the Seahawks are showing interest in the New York Giants offense for some reason. A year after interviewing Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka multiple times about their head coach opening, Seattle is expected to interview New York assistant QBs coach Christian Jones.
As far as anyone knows, the Seahawks haven’t ended the tenure of current quarterbacks coach Charles London. But according to Aaron Wilson, Jones is interviewing for Seattle’s QB coach job:
London interviewed with the Browns to be their OC (coincidentally Jones got his start in the NFL in Minnesota under current Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski) but didn’t get the job. According to all known sources, London is still the Seahawks QBs coach.
This interview implies a change is in the works.
Jones is an unknown. He played receiver at Northwestern until 2015 and started his coaching career at the same school in 2017. Jones made the jump to the NFL in 2019, then was hired by Brian Daboll as an offensive assistant in 2022 when Mike Zimmer’s entire staff was let go by the Vikings that year.
Per the Giants website, Jones has always worked closely with the team’s quarterbacks, including Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, Tommy DeVito, Davis Webb, Tyrod Taylor, and Tim Boyle.
The Giants have had to go through a lot of quarterbacks.
This was not the only Seahawks-related news of the day.
Here Today, Gone Capurro
The Seahawks are losing VP of coaching operations Matt Capurro, as he’s clearly a close colleague to Pete Carroll since he immediately left for the Raiders once his former boss got a new job. Here’s a nugget from Brady Henderson:
Capurro’s job entailed, per his bio, “coordinating the team's day-to-day operations … and managing the year-round football schedule, which includes the offseason program, OTA days, mini-camps and training camp.”
And another from John Boyle:
Happy for Matt but also sad to see him go. Matt is one of those quintessential makes-things-happen-behind-scenes guys. Has been a vital part of football operations for years with no fanfare.
Is it just a coincidence that Capurro leaves on the same day that Seattle makes a potential coaching change?
The Curry Continues
The most notable franchise draft bust since Rick Mirer, Aaron Curry continues to have a career in the NFL. He’s joining Aaron Glenn’s staff as the linebackers coach:
Good for him!

Watch:
I haven’t had a chance to check this out yet since it just debuted, so let me know in the comments what you think.
The next Tyler Lockett?
As I did with All-22 a couple of years ago before his channel had quite so many subscribers, I’m a big, big fan of promoting content creators who have yet to be discovered. One such account I like is Ryder McConville and he’s in the midst of draft season breakdowns.
I like this one on Jaylin Noel that premiered on Friday because when I hear of a receiver who is a “dynamic route runner” who excels as “tracking the ball” and could play the Z or Y, I think of Tyler Lockett:
Iowa State’s Noel had 820 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2023, then 1,194 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2024. He’s also a punt returner. Last season, Noel averaged 15.3 yards per return!
Let’s say Noel is projected as a third round pick after the combine…This person says he is projected to go towards the end of the fourth right now:
The Seahawks could target Noel with a third or fourth round pick. Lockett was more productive in college, but with similar size and potentially the same 40-time, Seattle traded up to get him at 69th overall. They hold the 82nd pick and though they traded their fourth for Ernest Jones, the Seahawks are expected to get a fourth back in the comp process.
It is all but a sealed deal that the Seahawks will release Lockett and using a first round pick to replace him probably wouldn’t be wise. If Seattle prioritizes the trenches with their first 2-3 picks, then maybe Noel would be a good option in the middle rounds…if he lasts that long.

Delayed Connection: Now it is occuring to me that Christian Jones would have worked under Klint Kubiak in Minnesota. Seems Kubiak wants his own QB coach.
I hate to even say this, but Kirk Cousins being available if he's released -- for almost no money -- is going to be speculated if the Seahawks release or trade Geno.
Kirk Cousins is really not a solution. Low mobility and a greybeard. Will be very disappointed if he’s our Geno solution (which presumes Geno is a problem, a base premise I disagree with)
Love the idea of finding a WR in Rd 3 or Rd 4! My name was Xavier Restrepo if he lasts that long but Noel sounds like an option too, way cool!
