It’s just silly everything you expect to happen seems to happen. What might happen if you expected the Seahawks to win the super bowl?

I’m reminded of the Houston Oilers in the heyday of Earl Campbell. As great as he was, the Tyler Rose benefited from an offense that also featured Dan Pastorini’s 50-yard frozen ropes to Billy Johnson and the late Ken Burrough. Pastorini was a good-not-great QB whose game happened to be ideal for Bum Phillips’ offense. (It was the Oilers’ bad luck to ultimately have to go up against the 70s’ Steelers—in my book, the greatest football team of the Super Bowl era.)

Seventies offense jokes aside, Pete Carroll would be thrilled with 2022 version of that offense: Oriented around Penny and Walker with Lockett and Metcalf on hand to keep DC’s honest…if they have a QB who can get the ball to them where they can do damage. That’s not Geno Smith and it’s probably not Lock. But we might as well find out for sure.

Nobody expects pre-season games to forcast regular season performance so how and when are you able to judge what kind of team we have this year?
