Good setup and close. I didn't care very much for S&E but you worked them in nicely. Keep writing like this and you will move up in the SS rankings/ratings.. For all you freebees, the bonus articles are as good as this one so pony up and subscribe. Also good due to fewer typos.
Maybe Dee needs to polish up his returner skills to solidify a WR4 spot. Special teams is where a lot of guys get opportunities, and he isn't fooling anybody if he tries to tackle folks out there. We need somebody who can do it as double duty. The added bonus of his big playmaking ability would a good tie breaker for a roster spot for him and the team.
I am a little torn that there was no Michael Scott meme "That's what she said" after the last line in the piece. On one hand... hilarious. On the other, misogynistic to those who don't know enough about The Office to know that is part of the character and the dopeyness is juvenile, yes, but affable and almost pityable? But, I digress.
It will be see who shows up from the group of rooks on defense. Mike Mo, Hall, and Witherspoon especially curious about, as they just seem like young, aggressive, and strong players that can change the temper of this defense, although Morris will need to get the smile off of his face for that. If Mike Mo can get his technique down and just go play, that would be a huge lift for this d-line. And of course I'm a big fan of Hall, even before he has shown anything of consequence. Just a feeling.
"To be fair to New York, Mims hasn’t given us any reason to think he’s good. Maybe Eskridge is good."
Sorry, could you remind when Eskridge gave any reason to think he was good? Was it stuffing the stat sheet against MAC corners four years his junior, is that his trump card? Mims had more receiving yards in his worst NFL season (133 in 2021) than Eskridge has for his career (122). Hell, Mims is even the younger of the two.
BTW, I love your handle (insert Michael Scott meme here). It is sort-of an onomatopoeia and personification at once. I picture Jeff Dunham's "Walter", or Statler and Waldorf from the Muppets balcony, which I prefer. Cheers!
I rescinded my "like" of your post because I don't truly like the contents, I just agree with your observation. Good point.
Dee flashed a little speed when he got thr ball, but he didn't ever string anything together enough to earn any more time. I think it's that pop of speed that is making us (maybe Ken) thirsty for him to get it together. But, you are absolutely correct.
Wow. I just paused my reading to come comment, which I usially don't do. Siskel and Ebert were so generous with their experience to give open advice. To me, it reminded me of my dad and how he would take little teachable moments. This was just in a longer format. GREAT video!
Please stop bragging about the consecutive number of articles. It's the quality that matters not the quantity and please please please drop all the crap about movies. Nobody cares if I wanted to read about movies I'd go to a completely different website I want to read about football and that's it.
Joe has a style that obviously works. He mixes his posts with wit, intelligence and humour. Add to that some non-football stuff (like movies) that keeps it fresh, varied and interesting. It’s a style that obviously works given the exceptional growth he is having in readers. On top of that, his Seahawks info. is also exceptional, learned, entertaining and popular (& pretty spot on most of the time). It seems to me, given the above, that he’s on a winning formula, so I if I were him, I’d keep the freight train rolling just as he has been.
Thanks for sharing this, Doug. 'n KenJoe, appreciate the Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert talk and advise. Glad that you learned to talk in the 1st person. Gratitude.
Speaking strictly on my own behalf, the off-the-wall leavening (including the movies) is what drew me here in the first place. It cracks me up.
I just sort of slide my eyes past the number consecutive days of publishing. I understand why that's important, although I do worry about long-term burnout.
If I were not, on balance, entertained, I'd probably just move on down the road.
It's what I do, too, Village. I recognize that SSJ isn't getting anywhere without some sort of promotion, and nobody else is gonna do it. You have to sell yourself to some degree in everything you do. I just remember that, reading it the 1st time, it sounded reasonable, was fact-based, written fresh - not just copy-pasted in, and was honest. That is better, IMHO, than disingenuous click-bait titles and pseudo-stories on other sites that annoy me. So, I just skip past it, chalking it up to a self-advertisement for new viewers. It appears that is how he intends for us to approach it since he packages it neatly in the same spot of the article with the same visual format each time. It makes it almost reflexive to jump over that chunk each time.
The section on "Is defense really about "starters" now?" is a great and overlooked point. We should care less about who the first 11 guys are on the field and more about which (and how many) players might see the field 40%-60% of the time on game days. There's going to be situational players and backup players and backup situational players. What's it all going to look like?

Speaking of style, this is the one and only Elizabeth Cotton playing an upside-down left-handed guitar, and the song she wrote: Freight Train!

That's some good ol' timey music right there.
Roll on, SSJ and Elizabeth Cotton, roll on!

Here here!
Perhaps your coverage of your next Grayson McCall article could have the headline "Liked by Seaside Joe. Just a thought.
Redundant, though. Also, not "news" by this point.😉
"Let's see some Dee" I love it!

A Fresh and 2 thumbs up Kenneth. May the 12s be with you and Go Seahawks!
Lets hope we have plenty of fan footage from the stands to pour over, I recall last year didn't disappoint! I look forward to your article, as always!
