He’s had a couple of interceptions. Maybe he can catch. Maybe they can do the reverse of what they usually do and swap him to the other side of the line - from CB to WR. With his speed, he could be an interesting backup receiver.

Size, speed and intellect. A protect that PC cannot resist! Will be fun to see how it works out.

I'm not going to spend much energy on criticizing a 90th spot move, and apparently they saw something they didn't like about Ginda or the other LBs that could add depth to our thinnest position, so i'll just assume this is a case of adding the smartest most athletic good attitude guy they can find to the roster.

Ginda or any of those other players could be added at virtually any moment. Wouldn't think Pete Carroll is done churning his roster.

As a roster spot on the 90, this one is a Practice squad hopeful. Nothing wrong if he does ball-out and replace another that was already there. IF he makes the 53, his contract will not likely fall into the top 51 that goes against the cap so clearly this is one of those 'nuttin to lose' moves. Do you think Pete will be 'fired up' about him? Maybe his competitiveness is 'special'. I suspect there is something else that is a little more serious coming...

Once the season starts...all 53 count as part of the roster. It's only the top 51 when rosters are larger than 53

Exactly. Although I am not sure about the something serious coming. I look at the Diggs restructure as essentially creating a line of credit of 6 million or so. If the Seahawks need it they can use it but if don’t then they can roll it into next year and cancel out the dead money on Diggs should they choose to move on. Diggs is happy because he doesn’t pay state income tax on any of the money and money now is better than money later.

You make a really interesting point that I never thought about. By converting that salary to a roster bonus the player is avoiding paying state income tax on all of those road games. No more 13.4% California state tax on the converted money when playing the Rams Chargers or Niners.

I also never thought about how the Raiders made themselves much more attractive by moving to tax free Nevada. Great post!

You mean like there won't be any room for him on the roster? He's definitely going to have a difficult time making the roster and perhaps even the practice squad.
