DV is a murky pathology that confounds the justice system time and again. Roger Goodell is not remotely qualified to address it, but retaining investigative and enforcement power in the commissioner’s office is more important than a sensible policy.

I don't know that he is addressing DV as someone trying to fix a societal problem or judge an act ethically, so much as a business "owner" who is trying to minimize his company's image damage by responding to the public's level of what's tolerable behavior before they punish that business with lesser revenues. I don't really blame the NFL for having a guy that has to decide appropriate disciplinary action for it's employees, or for having a public relations damage mitigator. My company's HR department does similar things.

6 games is the going rate for domestic violence without aggravating circumstances. Aggravating circumstances is the Ray Rice rule who was - originally given 6 games and then increased to indefinite suspension after video evidence of the assault came out. The other 6 game suspension issued today was for domestic violence. If it is domestic violence, then the underlying incident or incidents were likely reported las year as an arrest would have been reported and in absence of a law enforcement investigation the investigation was done by the NFL which takes some time. Which all means the Seahawks have know about this for sometime. Which means one of two things they decided to stick with him pending the outcome of the investigation and will now cut him or they decided to keep him no matter what. If he is still in camp then it is the later.

Well I was right about the DV. wrong about no police report. Alternative disposition kept it of the police blotter. His lawyer got it quick. Sounds like He has been doing all the right things since. I expect the Seahawks are standing with him.

Read the link to Mike Garofolo's Twitter post. It has the agent's statement. It was a domestic incident that resulted in no charges

Deferred Prosecution - which can be an excellent program for first time offenders = Plea of guilty, no further offenses, requirement to complete therapy, then dismissed. The alternative is often dropped prosecutions when victims choose not to cooperate. It may be the best thing ultimately for both Eskridge, and the mother of his child.
