Narrator: “They hired their OC *before* the weekend.”
Me: “I’d love to know the inside scoop on the OC candidate timeline. Did they need to check Chip Kelly off the list before finishing the negotiations?”
Indeed, have faith and have trust in John Schneider and coach Macdonald in their search for an OC that will work with and for the betterment of the 'team', not to just fill a position of need.
Patience is a Virtue! I'm sure they have someone in mind if not maybe two people. Rushing to a decision is always a bad decision! Let's let the SB happen and we will find out I'm sure shortly after. GO HAWKS!
I just got sucked into reading an article about LV odds indicating the SeaHawks will trade for Justin Fields. I hate this kind of article and yet I spent two minutes reading it. I am SO stupid!
Lets not discount the lawyers in HR and their DEI masters. Have we proven sufficient sensitivity to skin color/gender yet in the searches? Seems I could always detect a subtle derision from Pete when he referred to "non-football people", whom he ultimately blamed for his demise. The gossip and drama in running these outfits must be huge and emotionally depleting, to say the least. No doubt the ball boys are called to provide source material, to include tips and free beer. I very much appreciate the quality of perspectives I encounter by both Ken and the commenters here. Seems we are just a bunch of folks applying our wildly varied backgrounds and experiences to try to draw cogent pictures and maybe, just maybe, be a source of help to the folks doing the hard work on our Seahawks. I trust JS finds it a source of strength that Ken correctly called his #5 pick...
I’m one of the ones wondering what’s taking so long — bc I would have thought that for Schneider one of the biggest missing links in having hired a defensive coach is “who’s the OC”. Also would have thought it would be a huge question in McDonald’s interview, make sure there’s alignment on critical things like Geno and the OC. Hard to believe they both didn’t already align on the OC candidate or candidates Day 1
Which has left me concluding our next OC is busy this weekend.
You did not mention the Chiefs OC I presume that is because, as often been pointed out, teams can block a lateral interview. The Chiefs have done that in the past. The question is would they do it this time. I think they might. It was recently reported that Bieniemy was in the Chiefs facilities. When asked about it, Reid said he would love to have Bieniemy back but currently there is not an opening. That statement got me thinking. I think Reid is open to let Nagy interview for a play calling OC position so that he can get another shot at being a HC. It doesn’t cost Reid anything to let Nagy go because he has Bieniemy ready to step back in. Also I suspect Reid, who once called Nagy the best head coach candidate he had ever had in staff, feels Nagy got a raw deal in Chicago. Nagy has four years of play calling experience when he was the HC of the Bears. The ultimate failure with Bears was far more about trading up to pick Trubisky instead of Mahomes , the year before he got to Chicago and the desperation pick of Fields, than Xs and Os. Nagy won’t be selecting the QB in Seattle and he feels like the perfect fit at OC for the Seahawks. So my prediction for OC is Nagy. If I am right everyone rejoice and comment on how shrewd John and the Seahawks are.
This is a really interesting take. Our OC is coming from the KC organization, not the NIners, I would bet. The next best thing to "drafting the next Mahomes" is getting someone in your organization who helped bring out his skill set and might be able to do the same for someone else.
So….
Do we have anyone now that can teach tackling??

Hoping for a Godfather 2 of an OC

Great article. Everyone freaking out needs to relax. In John and Mike we must trust.

Maybe they were aligned, but then the Giants decided to step on their line.
Sure seems like it.

Absolutely the worst selection point in the hiring process in terms of correlation to future performance is....
The Interview.
Like, you can't select your partner through an interview. The ability to perform requires personal observation and participation.
