Just a note of appreciation to you, Ken, and how/what you see. There is gnashing of teeth it seems over at FGs and I don't think it is warranted based on the context of this game (2s vs 1s in the first half). Even if Mike Jackson isn't living up to the lofty pre-season praise, he wasn't "awful"--he just looked like not the winner of a starting job when you factor in the other options available. He would definitely be a starter on several other NFL teams (remember the CB1 for the Rams is Ahkello Whitherspoon who was not good enough to stick with the Seahawks last year).

I am liking where the Seahawks are right now.

To me, it seems that the coaches have done a good job at getting Lock to relax and take the plays in stride. The downside is that some of his passes look slow and late.

Overall, I see this as a good thing. He’s not over stressed. In a real game, the urgency and adrenaline will pump things up. It’s good to play the position without panic. It’s a good process.

Seems to me a good move at this time would be to make a trade, perhaps envolving a DB of which we have a surplus, for some 'quality' O-line depth, of which we have none.

If the run game is to be big in our plans, we need help up front.

Going up against Starters today was pure bonus. Lock played his role in further introducing the New Guys to the change in speed from College ball. I suspect they reached into their 2nd half bag of tricks in an effort to win the game. Bringing Holton in for 2 minutes was a gift. If we missed an opportunity, I didn't see it. When it comes to fighting to win, I found myself focused on Levi Bell most of the day. Such guys are invaluable when exhaustion starts to settle in. He's contagious. Didn't see first half because thought game started at one. Duh. However, did see Bobo's TD and interview with him afterwards. The guy is so settled. I wouldn't be surprised if, given the opportunity, he became a major star for the Seahawks. Can't put my finger on it but he's different. He's not scared. He knows what he's doing. He's really relaxed. "Low 4.7s-high 4.6s." But body control, moves, smarts. We'll see.

Michael Jackson is So getting burnt on almost every single play. I don't know why Witherspoon gets a nod as a starter, he certainly hasn't earned it. Again, Yes they need help at NT, don't care about second string or whatever, they haven't done a decent job of stopping the run all preseason! AND Coby Bryant needs some real lessons on how to tackle! Hopefully they have who is going to be a decent nickel all figured out -It Isn't Coby Bryant! As long as the O-line stays reasonably healthy they will be just fine , but finding a guy or two would be great.

I didn't follow this game super closely but it looked like Love played over 20 minutes of this game, and he played significantly in the previous two games too. It feels like LaFleur and the Packers don't trust Love to be literally ready for prime time, and if the best he could do at home against the Seahawks second string was 9 points...wow. Packers.com said this about his preseason, which considering the competition feels like daming Love with faint praise.

"Love finished the game 9-of-15 for 63 yards and a TD (91.8 passer rating), with three rushes for 21 yards and the catch for minus-2. For the preseason, the Packers' starting QB finished 21-of-33 for 193 yards with three TDs and no INTs for a 109.8 rating."

Forsythe we kind of knew wasn't really up to scratch coming into this season. Olu & Bradford i've been watching, and i'm not panicking. They just need more time and confidence in my book. I think trying to compare them to the starting Line which has a solid experience, and between Gs &Ts experience together, they will always look less good. Cut Forsythe for someone else, trust in the rookies to keep working.

DT/NT however, we need something else. If I were an opposing OC i'd just be drawing up a playbook of 80% runs. Pound out 4-6yd runs throughout the first half, gas our defence, then watch those runs become 8yd+ through the second half. Our Pass D looks good, but it was pretty good last year. I like the work done on the DLine but it's not finished.

The positive, that looks like the only problem. Take it into the season (no wild moves for Jones) and see how it all works in proper games. But it's shaping up like we are a two secure DT/NT's away from a Top5 D (plus securing the long time MLB situation). And with this Offence... that 2025 Superbowl does feel realisticly in reach.

The chat traffic was more than double the 2nd preseason game and a lot of fun!

There really were not many surprises in this game--our DB depth is exceptional. We have been speculating that a trade involving a CB is possible and I think it is even likely at this point. Gotel it that he is a Mountain of a man and possibly 'the guy' Bennett said we needed--take away the middle of the line without trying to be the hero. The DL weakness is what it is but not every position group can be a strength. The pass rush was ok even without the starters--but let the QB escape the pocket to pick up yards on broken plays. I will love to see Mafe putting a stop to THAT. WR depth... of course BOBO looked great and he is WR3 at this point and when JSN is ready to come back we are ok there.

To wrap up the Pre-Season Playlist we need a song... this team has embraced Pete's philosophy top to bottom. After all the arrows he took before the Russ trade, and looking at this team, I think Pete can safely say "My Way" is the way it should be.
