Not much purring, mostly frustrated yowls and unsheathed claws

For me...the five players I'm watching are Anthony Bradford, Josh Jones, Drake Thomas, Boye Mafe, and Kenneth Walker. It's all on us, not on them. If the line holds and Walker goes off, goodnight. If Mafe fills in well and Drake can hold up against the run game, we good. As a bonus, I expect Murphy to have a game today. Go Hawks ! Begaw!

If Dickson didn't punt the whole game I'd be fine with that. Keep their defence on the field, and ours off. Move on to San Fran. I'm hoping the issues with the defence last week were largely due to the short week and no live reps, and some McVay creativity in the first half. I didn't like watching them move the ball at will for 2+ quarters before we got our feet under us.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed the same thing, but Earnest Jones seems to be playing more hesitantly lately. Not pulling the trigger and playing downhill like he was early in the year. I noticed on several plays where someone (Emmanwori, Okada, or Thomas) was firing into gaps while EJ was shuffling and not really engaging. Maybe that's what he was supposed to do, but it seemed like he wasn't trusting his eyes.

Haven't given the opponent much study this week (retail is fun this time of year), but here are my five players:

Kenneth Walker III, because Carolina's interior DL is their strength and he likes to bounce outside.

Jalen Sundell, because Carolina's interior DL is their strength.

Riq Woolen because we need and are due for some takeaways.

Bryce Young, because if he gets loose we're in some trouble.

Cooper Kupp (or maybe AJ Barner, but I think it's Kupp), because this is the time of year we need him to excel.

Not Seahawks related but I have to say, this Malik Willis is not the same Malik Willis I watched from a few years ago. He actually looks composed and pretty good.

Yeah, its amazing what being in a program that actually cares about developing QBs can do for a guy.

Hoping we are following that blueprint with Milroe

And now he’s out with a shoulder…

Since this is the last comments before the game: we win by at least 2 TDs. Our last 2 road games we scored over 30 points. Our defense is pretty healthy; they jump all over Carolina. Their special teams try to keep the ball from Shaheed only they mess it up to the Seahawks advantage.

I’d love to see some early, deep shots to Shaheed. If well covered, JSN will be open. Stretch the field, then watch the RBs feast with runs and short passes.

Build an early lead, watch TB do the same, and see the Panthers shut it down.

This isn’t our trap game. It’s theirs.

They just had to make the 49ers and Rams games on SNF and MNF in order to prolong my anxiety, didn't they?

No chemicals for me, thanks

For a draft blog, Rob is usually a bit off. Hearing him on the radio as a content “expert” for the Seahawks makes me discredit the entire Seattle Sports network. To be reminded of how poor he picks players reminds me of this

La’au's avatar

That is true. When Rob is critiqued he kicks you off the site. Makes interacting and sharing honest opinions difficult. I don’t bother going there anymore

Paul G's avatar

He is definitely on the thin-skinned side. I still check in from time to time but no longer bother with commenting.

Chris H's avatar

I've never had an issue there. It's good content, and about as accurate as anyone else's draft speculation. GM's get it wrong all the time, so I can give grace to anyone who's off base.

Issac B's avatar

I'm not sure why some people feel the need to go to someone's else's personal opinion and speculation site (because that's all draft blogs are) and offer a "critique". It seems to me like they should start their own draft blog if they want to offer a differing opinion and/or speculation.

La’au's avatar

Whenever I was on that site… don’t remember when, I was not criticizing but sharing a differing opinion.

Why would I start a draft blog? Sharing my opinion about a football team does not mean I want to start a blog. Those two things can be separate.

Issac B's avatar

To be fair, I think the overwhelming majority of draft blogs are "usually a bit off." That's the nature of reading tea leaves.

I hope Dickson’s only plays are when he holds for PATs. Not even on FGs. Five plays should do it.

I'll take 35 points and let the defense work out their own issues.

I put Bryce Young at the top of the importance list this week. If the teams robotically play to their season averages, the Seahawks walk away with an easy win. The potential kryptonite is an opposing QB who narrowly escapes a perfect defense and makes low probability completions after everything breaks down from perfect defensive calls into chaos.

Sometimes those ad lib plays feed the defense. Consider Sam’s jump pass interception or Max Brosmer’s desperation throw pick six. Hopefully, we put Young in a hole and rattle him into mistakes. But if he keeps his head and has some luck, our systematic advantages might be neutralized.

My hope is that we get an early lead, the Bucs get an early lead, and Canales rests his starters. We run out the clock and stay healthy and relatively well rested for Week 18.

Love the shoutout on Dickson — Myers prob the more talked-about bc he leads the league in points, but wow what a great stat on Dickson.

Couldn’t help but notice where Bears, Rams and Niners sit….😎

I hope Sam Darnold makes all of his incentives by Sunday at noon, but I think the running game is going to be the most important part of our success. Thus, my five most important players are the three interior linemen, AJ Barner, and Robbie Ouzts. If they crush the Carolina defensive interior, it will be a fun afternoon of football.
