Not a big deal but Jacobs ran over us in week 12, not week 13. Or were you not counting our bye week?

As the fog slowly dissipates I see Tyler Lockett and the number 200. My take on this is that Lockett’s gonna go off to the tune of 200+ receiving yards. I’m pretty sure he’s not gonna get 200 TDS Sunday.

The Hawks D will once again give up more rushing yards than we’d all prefer, but Woolen adds another pick to the INT totals, as does either Diggs or Neal.

I also think I see a scoreboard with a 31-17 (no scoragami) victory for the Hawks.

Last night's game was astounding and it had me wondering what Panther and Brown fans were thinking. Has to be aggravating. For the Browns, to have invested so much in a guy and then in his successor, to watch him then blossom on TNF. For the Panthers, the fact that they just had him and let him walk for nothing. If he'd had one game like that for Carolina, they'd at least have gotten a third round compensatory pick. Now, that's the floor for the Rams.

Was also struck by how much more effectively the Rams run game was bottled up last night than last Sunday. Probably has something to do with a guy name Crosby.

Your discussion of analytics reminds me of something we used to say when I was in the IT field. We had a term, GIGO. When a program spit out nonsense, we'd reference that term. "Garbage in, garbage out." It arose from a time when people tended to assume that anything that came from a computer had to be right. We programmers understood the idiocy of those sorts of assumptions. Computers don't think. They simply process data fed to them based on algorithms that are also fed to them. Analytics is essentially the same. People try to support their biases with data and they point to the data as if it's proof of their underlying assertions. But data is just data. It can be insightful or insane. Brilliant or stupid. Just like opinions.

I'm a homer for Homer, and I think he's one of the best 3rd down backs in the league (his per-snap numbers are comparable to McCaffrey), and a lock to the Special Teams Hall of Fame, if there ever is one.

I don't think he's an every down back. Especially with the awful run blocking we are seeing this year (which makes Kenneth Walker even more admirable — it's true he has been boom-or-bust: he booms, the line busts). Behind a great run blocking line, Homer could thrive as a starter.

I'm kinda done visualizing things. My future visions seem to be a little fuzzy so I'm going to take a step back.

I'm a little worried about how things will go this weekend but the Rams won yesterday and that means there is one less team between the Seahawks and the #1 or 2 pick. If the Rams can beat the Raiders then perhaps the Texans can get it together and beat the Cowboys. And then maybe everybody from Philadelphia gets the flu and forfeits next week game to the Bears. Not likely, but hey, it's my vision.

What I really want, of course, is for Seattle to win and Denver to lose. I'm not too worried about Denver (vs. Kansas City), but Carolina could be a problem. And then there's the 49ers. I seldom cheer for Tom Brady, but Go Bucks!! I'll worry more about the stupid Bears next week, but sure, go Bears! And Houston too, what the hell, Go Texans!

Go 'Hawks! Go Chiefs!

1. They forgot about Tre! Committing to stop the run, the Hawks beg Carolina to try and beat them through the air. They know better than to throw at Woolen, but they don't know Tre is gonna jump a short out route for a pick six! Better ask somebody!

2. All TEs score TDs

3. This is the last game Sam Darnold ever starts in the NFL

Mine has been the same twisted vision since early in the season. Originally, I saw the Hawks going 11-6, with the defense being better than last season, with new coaches and a more aggressive attitude. Drew Lock, I thought was going to cut down on his interception rates… Now the reality is the defense can’t be trusted and I’m riding in the Geno fan wagon, hoping each week we can score 1 more point than the other guys. This week I see Hawks 31, Panthers 21.

11 wins is still a possibility but getting there is nothing like I thought it would be, so is 7 for that matter.

Hey Joe, this was today's Field Gull post.

https://www.fieldgulls.com/2022/12/9/23501347/2023-nfl-draft-lookahead-quick-notes-myles-murphy-bryan-bresee

Vision:

Last week's visions sucked but I'll try to do better.

I think Seattle wins but the spread's all about Seattle's defense.

Carolina isn't going to stop the Hawk's offense who will score 34 points.

Metcalf, Lockett, Homer will have a receiving TD and Homer will have a rushing TD.

If Foreman runs for 150 yards, Seattle win the game 34-31.

If Foreman runs for less than 80 yards, Seattle wins 31-13.
