Now that we have Kenneth's rankings in the app (or was it there in the first place and I missed it?) I did some analysis of where we differed and why. This was the most fun I've had thinking about the Seahawks in about 5 months!
We had some meaningful differences in the top 20:
I had JSN at 1 (and Darnold at 2). IMHO JSN was so incredible last year that he could have made almost anyone look good at quarterback. The run game benefitted tremendously from the gravitational pull JSN had on defenses. The defense benefitted from the field position & scoring he drove, which made the opposing offense easier to predict.
Thinking about it now, I wish I'd rated Darnold a bit lower. Maybe he's less valuable than either BM2 or Leo, but it's close.
I got Byron Murphy at 3; when you account for trajectory and future value he beats out Leo for me.
I had Zabel 6 spots higher at 8: his personality, playstyle, work ethic, and consistency felt like the missing link for the entire O-line (which unlocked the run game and pass pro).
I was WAY lower on Julian Love (25 vs. 12): I don’t know if I can explain this any better than “it didn’t seem like the team was hurting that much when he wasn’t on the field last year”. Maybe I was too harsh, re-reading your your description of why you ranked him where you did--he had amazing stats to end the year.
Both Devon Witherspoon and Nick Emmanwori I put 3 ranks lower: I think it’s hard for one secondary player to be as impactful as a single player in many other position groups (though both players have the versatility to make up for that somewhat), and I have durability concerns about both.
I put Rashid Shaheed 5 spots lower: he still needs to prove his value as a receiver for me to go anywhere near the top 10. Even 18 might be too high now that I think about it.
Outside of the top 20 there are some major disagreements per player:
Biggest one by a mile: Milroe. I have him 80, you have him 48. Nothing else comes close — next largest gap is half that. I'm guessing you're ranking for the developmental upside and I'm ranking what actually happened in 2025, where he played three snaps and they were pretty memorably bad.
Other players I rated much lower:
Pritchett (73 vs 57): Ironically you convinced me that Pritchett was way overrated based on one or two good plays last year. I think he’s in the bottom third of the roster but maybe I over-corrected here.
Kight (61 vs 47): You noted that he played against the Niners in the playoffs, but the Niners’ D-line was SO badly depleted by then that I don’t put much stock in his performance.
Arroyo (39 vs 27): I am still waiting for Arroyo to impress me enough to be worth putting in the top 30.
Players you rated much lower than me: Irv Charles (48 vs 67), Brady Russell (24 vs 36), McIntosh (55 vs 65), Sheriff (64 vs 74), Holani (26 vs 35). In other words, I think I valued being a big special teams starter much more than you did overall. Also I just watched an Irv Charles highlight reel and it got me hella hyped.
SJ thank you so much for all the in-depth info on all of our hawks from the stars to the backups!! I’ve never looked forward to such informative and entertaining daily reading about the Hawks. It’s a non negotiable for me and a fun one at that🤩 Except for the times I don’t read anything else but you on the Hawks so thanks for everything and the community you’ve created is something special!! I don't think that's surprising. Everyone agrees that JSN is an elite football player. The only question is whether an elite WR can be as valuable as a really good starting QB. I'd be much more shocked if JSN was outside of anyone's top-5 than if Darnold was outside of anyone's top-10. I just can't even fathom the calculation to not have JSN somewhere in the top-4. But I understand that a QB can be divisive. However, if we did this 2 years ago, I think you'd have some Geno votes at #1 and some Geno votes way outside the top-10. The fact that Darnold isn't really seen by anyone as a problem is huge progress, for both the team and the QB.
I submitted my 1-91 rankings, but it's based more on intuition than information. I'm not a football analyst, just a fan. There's no way I could pull this off on my own, but with SSJ's rankings as a starting point, I pushed some names around to reflect where I expect some of the camp battles to lead, and how important I expect certain players to become. Thanks for making the off-season so interesting, SSJ, and you Joes, too.
I will do a 91 man roster ranking, but I agree with you, it is indeed hard to do. What I have been doing is looking at the roster by positions groups, and who I see as contenders for that position. For instance, TE - Obviously you have Barner and Arroyo, but Saubert looks like a surety. Kallerup was kept all last season and a potential monster blocking TE, but we know Brady Russell is going to be on the roster. Can they keep two FBs? Or 5 TEs? I know it is only Milroe’s second season, but keeping three QBs on the 53 will mean someone will be lost to waivers at the 53 cut down. It’s possible it will be his time to shine and show he has improved to a qualified backup QB to make the team. That final last man who was 54 if we keep 3 QBs could be a big loss from a contributing player. Milroe is not likely to contribute this year. Anyway, what I’m getting at is I have to translate my positional rankings going into camp into overall rankings. Btw, I have a positional group of special teams players to watch. Irv Charles, Surratt, Ricky White, Emmanuel Henderson, D’Anthony Bell, Russell, etc… I try to rank them by contribution to the ST, then see if they can fit into the positional group they are considered to be in.
I’m with you on the reason for the process of a 91 ranking to get to know all the players vs an extremely accurate ranking, I just felt it was so hard to rank accurately at this time, before camp, vs looking at individual position groups. I also think I’m in no position to argue or nit pick your ranking. You did ask for a prediction of your next 5 players during your ranking series, and I predicted 4 out of the 5, and the one I missed was at the top of your next grouping of 5. The other thing I like about looking at it as positional groups, is that you see the competitions that will happen in camp. And it forces you to find film on these players to see if you can determine who could surprise. (For me it is Logan Brown on offense and Chris Paul on defense)
What is going to be interesting is 1 has Milroe improved sufficiently. 2 the FO is great in having ear to the league. I could see Milroe moving to PS. Next year’s draft deep. Milroe showed virtually nothing as a QB last season. Teams still have depth and guys like ARich are available. See Mac at Whiners. If that 53/54 is valuable enough and league “voice” doesn’t respect Milroe enough, dropping down to 53 and being emergency QB is a possibility. 3 Milroe shows marked passing improvement this camp.
I just can't see Milroe clearing waivers. All the pre-draft reports called him "the next Lamar Jackson". Some pundits had him going at the end of the first round. Knowing Milroe was a developmental project, JS took a chance with a 3rd-round pick and got praised for it. If he shows that he's made any kind of progress AT ALL in the preseason, expect to see him on the 53.
Oh I agree. Why I mentioned that only if FO hears that he is still not highly prized. He clearly showed he has a lot to see. As we’ve been saying, keeping 3 QBs is hard on a roster. It takes away a body. With new OC I could see he has one more year of weekly inactive/emergency QB only support.
I expect this year we will see our Hawks fix the position with Developmental QB. Trying to get a kid up to speed during Go Time simply costs seasons. I also expect we shall see Shaheed dropping passes and/or failing to contest for them. Or just can't seem to get 'open'. I try never to get negative with any of our guys, so i truly hope I am wrong. That said, I hope to see him get some Growl in his Game. Own the ball coming your way, Sheed.
I would not be at all surprised if Shaheed (and his lofty contract) finish the season in Las Vegas. Kubiak likes him, the Raiders have needs (and ample cap space), and Tory Horton would be an effective WR2. JS has stocked up on return-game options (Horton, Henderson, White, White III, Charles), so I think it's just a matter of time.
And, if Shaheed proves me wrong and makes himself invaluable to the offense, I'll be happy to watch him contribute to even more Hawks victories.
Until proven wrong, I believe Shaheed and Darnold will have their trust/timing issues sorted by the end of camp. My hunch is he will be used sparingly on returns.
Yeah, I could see him used on kickoff in critical games/situations. Maybe against the Broncos in week 6 if the game is close down the stretch. Against the Rams and 49ers.
I still think Shaheed stays. He really wants to be here and supposedly fits in very well. There’s no one else quite like him right now as a returner. Maybe someone steps up? Price is a great kick off return man, and Horton is a very good punt return man. But I don’t put it out of the realm of possibility that Horton winds up being WR2. He has to stay healthy. That’s been trouble for him the past two years.
This is going to be a painful year if we keep 3 QBs on the 53. They may be willing to pay the price with the cost, but we will have a quality player sniped off of waivers. I see Shaheed getting 750+ yards. He got 499 yards in 1/2 a season with New Orleans and a QB who is not nearly as good as Sam. I also don’t know that Shaheed will be WR2. Horton has the ability to get 800+ yards as well. So 750 as a number 3 is just fine to go with 4+ return TDs.
I couldn’t agree more on Sam Darnold. I don’t know if the NFL experts can wrap their head around putting him in the MVP discussion, but I do think he will play better this year. I think he’s going to finally have the confidence in himself to do so. The way he finished the last 4 games last year, preventing turnovers and protecting the ball, We can have a historic season. I had him as the 8th best QB in the NFL following the Super Bowl, but I think he’s will be a legitimately top 5 QB after another Super Bowl this year.This team doesn’t have a weakness unless J Price and Holani are a bust, bug I see Sam getting 4500+ yards, 35+ TDs, and cutting fumbles and INTs in half. Fleury will help him. If Price and Holani can step up, I expect more receiving from them, and from fullback Ouzts. Passes to RBs will allow for more quick releases. TEs will see more production from Barner. Arroyo, if healthy could be a meaningful player and live up to JS’s belief he could be a first round pick if he can stay healthy. Coach Derrick of All-22 just did a video on Horton, who if healthy, will give us perhaps the best WR room in the NFL. I know, that’s insane. When I made my glowing predictions on other platforms last year, (13 wins 4 losses) I was told I must be smoking the crack rock. Unfortunately, I think JSN might see fewer targets this year. He may only get 1500+ yards, but catch a higher percentage of his targets. We will be a better team and better passing team overall if his % of targets goes down and more legitimate threats are on the field.
And what is interesting is back to back 4000 yard seasons and high level of TD passes and completions. And as you note, great job to reduce the TOs. Being a leader and getting ball into hands of those listed playmakers, that’s how you become elite.

I had most of my changes in the 6-32 range. 1-5 was fine for me…as was the entire back end. I just have some differences in value.
