Which Seahawks player are you 'the BIGGEST fan' of?
We're looking for the biggest Geno Smith or Jaxon Smith-Njigba or Jake Bobo fans in the entire world: Seaside Joe 1965
Fandom is interesting. The NFL needs fandom as badly as any other institution in the entertainment industry does, but where do you draw the limit? Anyone who was on Seahawks twitter circa 2012-2021 knows that there is a limit and that “samhwkbgr” went above and beyond it for Russell Wilson every single day of the week.
Maybe you haven’t devoted your life to a player on the Seahawks just yet (let’s see how year two plays out for Devon Witherspoon first before you say you never would), but surely there’s someone who you like a little bit more than other fans probably do.
This is you (1990):
This is you (2024):
Who is this for you (1990)?
Who is this for you (2024)?
Somewhere on the Seahawks 2024 roster is your “baby reindeer”, so put me out of my misery and tell the rest of the class who it is. If two of you have the same answer, then the showdown begins.
To kick us off with some options, I asked Super Joes subscribers to share who they think they’re “the biggest fan” of on the current Seahawks roster. Here are their answers and decide for yourself if you’d like to object and claim to be an even bigger fan. (Comments have been edited down for space purposes.)
John C: I was so tempted to choose George Fant, but I have discussed him in a previous comment….However, I feel most confident about being the only person to choose Max Pircher.
I’m not the “biggest” fan of Pircher, but I have been following his career since the Rams signed him via the International Pathway Program in 2021, so I’ve at least been on the side of actively rooting for him to make the team and have success in the NFL.

Sum monkey: Big Husky fan, and I was so excited about the hawks landing UDFA tight end Jack Westover. He has about a 10 yard diameter catch radius of finger tip leap right to finger tip leap left, from what I’ve seen. Super clutch on big catches, and heave it anywhere near him, it’s caught, he seems to suck balls up like a Dyson vacuum.
Westover is winning Wednesday’s poll asking subscribers which player on Bob Condotta’s 61-75 ranking has the best odds of making the final roster: 32% of the vote is going to Westover as of this post. Second place is Jerrick Reed at 20%. If you’re the biggest Huskies fan, let us know why you rank #1 in the comments:
Danno: On offense I'm going with Kenny McIntosh. On defense, I am going with Jerrick Reed.
Danno mentions McIntosh as a third down back who can pass block and Reed as a key special teamer with a nose for the ball. As noted, Reed’s on Westover’s heels for this week’s poll and 2024 will be his opportunity to shine for Mike Macdonald at a position that necessitates more than three safeties being involved over the course of a season.
zezinhom400: I'm sure I'm not the only one to be a particularly huge fan of my favorite Seahawk, but I'll explain why Boye Mafe is my favorite. First, he has the physical tools and potential to be a GREAT pass-rusher…second, he is a helluva learner and had a fantastic second year….third, he came from nothing, has overcome tremendous difficulties in his family, and has a mission in life…Boye Mafe, my favorite Seahawk.
I’d be remiss to not immediately mention that this was the very next comment:
Rusty: Boye Mafe for me. He’s done nothing but get better and better. I’m excited to see how he does in the MM defense. A sack in 7 consecutive games is something no Seahawk had ever done. And while sacks can be overrated, he’s not a one trick pony.
Our first showdown! Which isn’t really a showdown, but instead a coming together of fans to celebrate a player together who they both love to watch and root for his success. Is that the plot of Enter the Dragon? Bruce Lee goes through a building to share good tidings and celebrations with various villains cool dudes until he gets to his ultimate final boss friend?
Maxx: Ken I'm a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE Geno fan and maybe more than most. I've commented before about how Geno is constantly disrespected even after 2 pro bowl seasons. And I don't want to hear about his "regression" last year because the defense did NOTHING to support Geno and the offense last season. On top of that, it was a league leading 10 different offensive line combinations last season, right?? Yet Geno STILL lead the league in 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives last season. Geno was directly responsible for at least 4 wins last season. Geno is my guy and will always be my guy. Miss Allen? Please pay the man. He deserves every penny.
Now we get to the quarterback and I think you’re going to have some competition here for Geno Smith; I can even think of another Seasider whose name also starts with “M” that would like to have a word. We will see what happens now that he’s in Ryan Grubb’s offense and hopefully Seattle gets 17 games from the starting tackles on both sides of the OL.
Russell Wilson had samhwkbgr, will Geno Smith have maxxgenofan? Or is someone reading this now thinking they might be an even bigger Geno fan?
(Top Billin’ for example)
My favorite part of that last one is Top Billin’ advertising in the headline that he’s going to actively seek to destroy one of his own fans for disagreeing with something he said.
Here at Seaside Joe, you are not only allowed but encouraged to disagree with the author. In fact, that’s the point of today’s post: You tell ME who everyone else, including me, is far too unappreciative of, including quarterback Geno Smith, or Kenny McIntosh, or Jake Bobo, or Jack Westover, etc. Make your argument, lay down the cards, prove your case, or simply say, “I don’t care if it’s logical…it’s fandom.”
Fandom doesn’t require logic. It only needs love.

We get such scant opportunity to watch & listen to the players speak in a really personal way that in the question of picking favorites doesn’t make much sense to me. Even if strictly based on how they play, “favorite” still doesn’t register as a concept that I can grok. But just to play along I’ll also pick Boye Mafe because I really liked that YouTube interview SJ shared with us (showing an easy going down-to-earth guy who is into learning, positive about his teammates and has a nice sense of humor) and clearly he is a steadily improving player who seems to give 110% on just about every play.
Great comment Maxx!
Maybe Joe is referencing me (I hope so), but I want on the bandwagon too!
There are Seahawks games that stick out more than others to me. The Tony Romo dropped snap, Beastquake, the tip, etc. etc. But the first home game against RW beating the Broncos, as huge underdogs, everyone in the world is saying the Hawks are crazy or the suck etc. etc. To win that game and to see Geno throw a TD on the first drive and the explosion of emotion. Was awesome. PC chomping his gum with a crooked smile. Felt similar to the old days. Add the interview after the game. Just incredibly memorable.
Also, the game last year when Drew Lock started and led a game winning drive against the Eagles and Geno was on the sidelines giving him the "put your backpack on" dance. Lock was emotional after the game and in the press conference afterwards talking about Geno and how good a teammate he is.
I am not sure why people relate what happens to someone at 21 years old to what happens to someone at 32 years old. Does that happen in any other job? Do people pigeonhole you if you are in sales and were terrible your first year out of college? So why are people surprised by his growth? Don't most people get better at their profession with experience and age?
Geno has a great story and seems to be a great guy and leader. But I don't think his story is done. He receives an amazing amount of lack of credit for Seahawks success and an inordinate amount of blame for Seahawks losses. And he takes it all in stride.
Give that man some help and then let's see how he plays. It's a joke to compare what Goff has in Detroit and what Hurts has in Philly to what Geno has to work with in Seattle.
Anyways, MAXX let me on the bandwagon!
Go Geno, Go Hawks
