How Week 9 impacted the Seattle Seahawks
Seahawks only looking up at two teams in the NFC, still have shot at top-10 pick
When I started writing “How Week (X) impacted the Seahawks” in the beginning of the season, I expected it to be a twofold check-in for Seattle and Denver that mainly focused on 2023 draft order.
Whoops!
The Seahawks are now 6-3 after beating the Arizona Cardinals and only the 3-5 Denver Broncos are helping us keep track of that draft order and keeping alive the hope of a top-10 pick. Probably a top-10 pass rusher, as Geno Smith is solidifying his place under center and the 2023 quarterback class seems to get weaker by the week.
Seattle stays atop the NFC West standings for another week and is currently situated in the three-spot for the conference playoffs. The Seahawks are looking up at the 8-0 Eagles and 7-1 Vikings, but lording over the 4-5 Bucs and the 4-4 49ers in the standings. If Seattle can top Tampa Bay this week in Germany, then the Seahawks will have an even tighter grip on a playoff spot.
Per 538, they’re already 84% to make the postseason and 51% to win the division, which is about 82% and 50% higher than my preseason prediction.
