My favorite moment of this season of Love is Blind is when, during an interview, the guy asked if they were filming, then took out eye drops to make it look like he was crying.

Since Seaside Joe is one of my favorite journalist to read regarding the Seahawks (and possibly reality TV now) it is great to see that the entertainment value of the team is high on his list. I therefore challenge Joe or any other journalist that is so inclined, to quantify just how entertaining the Seahawks have been as opposed to the rest of NFL since Pete Carroll took over the reigns? How to do that is above my pay grade, like most everything is, but if I were to try, I might look at how many months of each year we have had the privilege to watch the Seahawks play? Since we have been in the post season most of the time under Pete Carroll with two two seasons going all the way to the Superbowl, I would think that it would be fair to say that is a heck of a lot of entertainment under Pete Carroll. Another metric could be in all those wins how many were come-from-behind wins? With Russell Wilson at the helm for the majority of the snaps over that entire time frame, I would imagine that would have also provided a great deal of really fun to watch "must see TV". You get the picture.. How about assigning a point value to each entertainment aspect you can think of then put it all on a spread sheet compared to the rest of the NFL? Maybe subtract points for the frustrating times fans might have wanted to throw a rock through their TV screens. (Since 1976 I could have destroyed many, many televisions if that wouldn't have made me look even more like an idiot). Anyway, for this experiment, we are only talking about the Pete Carroll era here. (Yes, I know, the Patriots are likely to actually win this race). OK, but that's not the reasoning here, so so what?.

To Joe, is it too frivolous of a point to spend all the time? Undoubtedly and will look for his report in about five years, but from this entertainment value perspective, when I look at the Seahawks from 30,000ft as they say, I am damn grateful for the 2022 version of Pete Carroll's Seattle Seahawks! I think there is a whole lot of enjoyment coming down the pike (maybe a decades worth) thanks to John Schneider, Pete Carroll, Geno Smith, future draft picks and our current gaggle of rookie future stars.

And to think last spring I was thinking we should keep Russ and cut loose Pete. Wrong again.

Even more entertaining would be bookending the first round of the draft, that's for sure.

As for playoff chances, we started the season at around 25% per Football Outsiders. The reason is that they were very conservative in there season forecasts (and got right that this would be a very balanced year). I don't know how we started at 538, but that should be easy to check.

Right place right time do what you want

A little late sorry. I think the Seahawks are a work in progress. They show all the signs of becoming a very good team. I think we will make the playoffs but there is only one game I think we are 90% sure to win.

Defense needs to become more consistent. I have a feeling we were protecting our secondary against Tampa, if the offense played well in the first half that decision wouldn't have hurt us. I can completely understand why we did that, and it gives me confidence that we are well coached. Stay away from the injury bug .

Yes. No. But Hawks need to make the playoffs first, and I think that's tighter than we want. Win out, and we win the division. I'd love that, but don't see it. Wild cards? Right now looks like Cowboys and Giants plus... history suggests Green Bay comes back. Will we have a better record than any of those three at the end of the season? I think we're gonna need to go 5 and 2 over the last seven. I don't think 10-7 gets in. Happy to be wrong.

The Seahawks are so far ahead of my expectations that it feels like they’re playing this season with “house money”. There’s nothing really to lose.

I came into this season just hoping to see the rookies play well as the season went on. But the young ‘uns have been good from the get-go and the entire team is fun to watch. The wife and I are enjoying this season so much.

I now think this team WILL make the playoffs and possibly win a postseason game, depending on who they play.

But I think my expectations for NEXT season are just a bit higher than they were for this season.

Quite simply, I'm enjoying the Seahawks. After years and years (and years) of sports fandom, that's really all I want out of my teams. Go to sleep happy because either my team won or I think they have a good shot of winning the next one and in either case go to sleep happy because I just like the team. The Seahawks fit that mold.

Back in 2010/2011 we didn't make the Super Bowl but that 7-9 team winning against the defending champions with the Beast Quake was the most special Seahawks event I can remember. This year has some of that flavor. Also nice segue.

It's really nice to see so many people contributing to the comments!

Celebrity seekers, ie. people trying to get famous for being famous, are the opposite of what I am willing to watch. I see enough in actual reality to satisfy any trainwreck needs.

I agree with Joe's assessment of the Hawks. We've been smitten with Pete's magic but in the end it's still about the players. In order for us to be among the elite we need more depth, a dominant lineman, a "where is he" edge rusher, and a YAC third receiver. We also need someone that can take away the middle short zone like Fred Warner who is the current coverage LB prototype. We simply can't let that drive extending area be open season for QBs. Guard, center, and WR can be addressed but my real questions are on defense.

-Is Mike Jackson a long term starter or a fantastic depth piece?

-Will Coby Bryant mature into a fixture at nickel (he must improve his tackling)?

-Can Diggs return to his pre-injury form?

-Can Jamal Adams stay healthy enough to be counted on?

-Will Brooks and Barton take the next step?

-Does Darrell Taylor have a future?

We'll make the playoffs this year but it will take another successful draft to be a Super Bowl contender.

After games 6-9 I thought the Hawks were really on their way back compared to the first five games. Now I don't know. I will say there are more entertaining. And I do have more hope for the playoffs than I did at the beginning and I do think Geno could win a playoff game. Dallas and Philly stumbled so anything is possible as far as the playoffs go.

Seattle didn't get their mid 2000's status over night. Pete and JS took over the team in 2010 and yes they won a home playoff game (7-9 won the NFC West that year) against the previous SB champ NO. Remeber though, it took 3 drafts and some key free agents added in 2013 to make them a top tier team. (Lynch add was key in 2010) That includes a team that has depth on their roster at skill positions. Seattle had the right fits for their injuries.

Seattle is still a MOR team at this juncture, but of course your right Kenneth, when you say you can get hot in the playoffs and get a few breaks along the way. Remember the Flaco lead Raven team of 2012 (and the Dilfer lead team). Good D's was their key to winning it all, as was Seattle's, Denver's, Ram's in the 2000's. The Seahwks D hasn't arrived to that point yet. They need to improve at LB, D Line and safety might even be a concern in 2023. Seaside Joe mentioned that in an earlier article.

Seattle is fun to watch again. They compete (SF was the exception). It appears so as the season progresses, that Seattle does have a pretty good staff under Pete this year I. It appears they can make adjustments instead of running head first into the wall every week. The Raider game will be an interesting watch after the bye and the loss. Seattle has a great opportunity to find some wins in the second half of the season. Raiders, Panthers should be wins, but you have to play the game first. The Rams, although still a nemesis for Seattle, are the best matchup we've seen in a couple of years. I think the Jets are going to be a tough out. Good thing that's a home game. SF at home is kinda like Seattle's SB this year. A win against a star heavy cast would be really satisfying. Strange things happen to the 49ers in Seattle. KC could well be the best team in the NFL this year top to bottom.

I think for Seattle to get a win in the playoffs would require winning the West and hosting a wild card game. Any further than that might be a bit of a reach when you get into Divisional.

Seattle is doing a great job at setting the stage for 23 and capturing the fanbase in the process (as well as the leagues admiration). Pete may be the old dog teaching the league a few new tricks, that haven't really changed much since his arrival.

Go Hawks!

Do you want to know what the very best reality TV show is?

The NFL season.

The story lines are there on every team every season. This year, some of the very best story lines are with the Seahawks.

Everyone doubted them! The QB is awful! The Coach is past his “best before” date! Burn it all down!

We are closer to begin good, and got there faster, than anyone thought pre-season (except maybe Pete, though I still think Pete is pleasantly surprised even if he claims to have known all along).

Our success this season doesn't really change anything though. We still need another great draft (which we're set up for with great draft capital), savvy free agent pickups and good luck with player health/injuries. We are off to a great start but aren't there yet.

I hope everyone doesn't hate me for this, but I still think Geno is a bridge QB and that he will not be starting for our 2025 Super Bowl Championship team.

This has been my favorite season in several years. I expected it to be dreadful. I think Geno can win a playoff game if we get the right match up. I don't see us as a Super Bowl contender, but what do I know? I expected this to be a 5 win season if all went well.

Nobody expected Pittsburgh to get very far in the playoffs in 2006 leading up to SB XL either. Maybe it's Seattle's turn? Go Raiders, Go Cards!!

I went into the season simply wanting to see improvement throughout the season and becoming a team that physically imposes their will on other teams. I'm pleasantly surprised by the winning record and I think the Hawks have made great strides towards accomplishing my two goals. They've got young guys that are heavily contributing which is amazing and who knows, maybe they have enough to make a strong run in the playoffs. But what I'd really like to see more of is continuing the improvement.

I look at this team and think it's a lot like the 2012 team.

What's really exciting to me is how good this team could be with another great draft class under its belt. Can Schneider and Carroll pull off two in a row?
