Position Battles: Surprising Potential Camp Winners on Offense
4 names who could have bigger roles than expected when the season starts
Seahawks Training Camp Countdown: 25 days
The Seattle Seahawks report to training camp on July 25th, with the first open practice open to fans on July 26th. I’ll keep track of the countdown here at Seaside Joe until then because I just can’t wait.
Today’s bonus article tracks four potential surprise winners of position/roster battles in 2023 training camp. Join Regular Joes for $5 to keep reading this, 100s of posts in the archives, and 100s of posts in the future.
The website I use to host this newsletter is called Substack and on Thursday, I dropped into their weekly “office hours” chats in which writers ask questions and share information. One writer asked, “What percentage of free subscribers typically convert to paid?” The answers ranged from “in my circle it runs 3-7%” to “I have 1,000 subs and 20 paid (2%)” to “I am at 4%” to “I got up to 4%” to “It recently dropped to 5%” to “I believe the consensus is 5%”.
The absolute highest percentage was 7%.
Again, Seaside Joe has a subscription rate of 23% and that’s with over 2,300 subscribers (a very high mark at Substack) and in spite of offering a FREE newsletter every single day. A rate of 23% is unheard of. Why such a high rate? A few reasons that I know can be attributed:
- Because we’re Seahawks fans
- Because there is so much content, free and paid
- Because Seaside Joe aims to tap into those of us who are absolutely obsessed
It’s thanks to that obsession with writing about the Pete Carroll Seattle Seahawks that has driven me to create more articles about the team than any other human being on the planet. Seaside Joe will post 500+ articles and over 1.2 million words about the Seahawks in 2023 alone.
Thank you for being a little out of your mind to keep reading everyday, whether that’s the free daily edition or all of the content. Over 1,000 of you have shared the Seahawks with me every single day for years…People don’t even keep in touch with their own family like that.
That’s why their rates are so much lower than ours and I’ll keep providing more Seahawks content to read, think about, and/or talk about with other fans every day and that conversation will never die down as long as I can help it. Thanks for helping motivate me to never stop.
Today’s bonus article: 4 potential surprise winners of position battles on offense
I’m splitting this up into offense and defense, starting right now with some of the players who could have bigger roles or places on the roster that you wouldn’t expect based on: Seattle’s needs, their skills, and reports out of minicamps and OTAs.
