The problem with Foles and Fitzpatrick is that they might be good enough to win yet another camp competition and keep Lock on the bench (and make Geno worthless). Wouldn't you all rather be pleasantly surprised by a good Lock, or predictably meh about a bad Lock (and high draft pick), than be mired in mediocrity with a known QB commodity.

Interesting comparisons on QBs and "competitions." Now, while looking back at the day the Seattle brass dumped Russell Wilson, I see nothing. No competitions, no Pet Carroll special, and no GM miracles. I was a Russell Wilson fan, and I remain his fan. I'll be watching many Denver Broncos games just to see how it all plays out for MY guy. As an aside, I'd still vote for Nick Foles to be drawn back into this Seattle QB conversation. "Throwing the dice" with Nick has worked before and could work again. Who will try for "lightning in a bottle?" I'm still there.

What is Ryan Fitzpatrick doing these days? At this point, I'd have more faith in "Fitzmagic" then I do with our current QB depth. Please don't throw anything at me!

Guess I'll be the first to say that I'd be excited to land Baker. Not 10% as excited as I'm sure Denver fans are to have landed Russ, but excited. He's an odd personality and frankly I think talks too much to the point his mouth may have played a factor in him not having a job right now. But he's not so old that we can say with certainty that we've seen the best of him. He took the BROWNS to a playoff win (against their bitter rivals, no less), and that hadn't happened since the invention of the smart phone. Or maybe cell phone. Maybe even rotary phone. They're possibly the worst run organization in all of professional sports and have churned through quarterbacks for 20 years and he's the only one to find any success.

We know what Geno is. A backup; and in my opinion one of those backups where you really hope your starter stays healthy. I don't know what to make of Lock and maybe a new environment brings out his best. But Geno shouldn't be competing for a starting job. I didn't like the contract they signed him to because with the incentives in it, it almost certainly means he gets cut. If he doesn't we have a VERY dire situation at quarterback.

If the Browns eat enough of his salary, I can't imagine a reason to say no. There's only one year on his contract and if he's anything but great, we move on after the season. I see it as our best chance to win games among the available options. I for one, would not be happy at all about a 2 win season. And I have a feeling Pete and John feel even more strongly about that. You can't both tank and build a winning culture. If that moves us down the draft board, so be it. Just increases the likelihood we miss out on the top 3 guys and wind up with Grayson McCall.

Go Seahawks! Yes, this year!

LOUISIANA LEFTY LEVI could be that out of nowhere dark horse . Bounced alot of passes off stone handed receivers and his offensive line leaked like a hotel shower diverter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MdwM0UGmOk

The QB competition is just for the Fans to have something shiny to be fired up about during the summer. If Lock can keep his turnover percentage down to less than 1 per game, he may have a job for a while.

The defense needs on the other hand needs to be able to get the hell off the field. I love defense , but I don’t need to see them on the field 35 to 40 minutes a game. 3rd and 13 is no problem with 9 to 12 play scoring drives once or twice a weekend, the norm. The leading tackler doing most of his work 9 yards down the field.

Sorry I got off track but I do feel better. Now back to the “competition “…

If our fresh out of the box tackles can learn to run block, that may give Lock the confidence to be a game manager. I don't mean that in a bad way. When one of the safeties has to come up to stop the run and Lock hits DK or Tyler in stride. If he can be proficient at 3rd and 4 that's what I mean. I think Clint Hurt will have our defense playing hard. I still think we are missing a game wrecker or 2.
