Good point Stephen. I would have expected this in my email too.

Another good article Kenneth. Same with the email that just came out.

What a defensive mess yesterday. You know the D line was the shits when the only sack was from Poona (and I love Poona). As for tackling, which I believe to be THE NUMBER ONE FUNDAMENTAL OF FOOTBALL, the seahawks were so bad that one has to wonder how much pure tackling time is spent at practice (although players at the pro level SHOULD know how to tackle correctly) don't hope hits will bring a guy down, wrap him up and put him on the ground! So Kenneth, what is different with the D the past 2 games that has them playing like they did at the start of the season? Mid season they demonstrated they could play reasonably good NFL defense so what has happened?

Great learning day for Abe. Few RTs in the game can dominate Crosby so for Abe to be able to face him can only make him better in the future.

The Geno question is tough. I still do not trust or believe Geno is the starting QB that can lead us to the SB. $30M is a lot of money, money a team does not want to spend on an 11 year vet who breaks out after said 11 years. Caution please Pete.

Why didn't this article go to my email? I know it's not your fault, Kenneth, but wah, wah, wah.

When articles failed to appear in my email in-box, I assumed you finally took a well earned and needed break from your writing marathon. But now I see it is just some fluke that keeps me from receiving the fruit of your marathon.

Adams wouldn't make any difference, but the draft picks we gave up for him would have. He's nowhere near the talent of Earl or Kam. He's a bad tackler, and doesn't cover well. He gets sacks, which really isn't something we need from a safety. Earl and Kam didn't together cost 2 first round picks either. (not to mention that Adams is brittle and has been hurt most of his contract.) Think of the 2 DL we could have or 2 LB, or maybe a center we could have with the draft capital we gave up for him.

"Performed above expectations since beginning of season. Performed below expectations 10 days ago" is a perfect way to put it. I've already been thrilled with what this team has shown and they've shown regardless of the season end, that they can compete and play well. They also showed we've got a great l rookie class. But two deflating losses none the less given how much promise they showed.

Onto the next one!

I wonder how much a safety like Adams would make for our defense to become more consistent. I don’t have anyone in the back of my mind that I think about when we need a big play.

Earl or Chancellor would just come out of nowhere , at anytime, and get a huge stop. Bennett or Avril would make a big play in the backfield. You could almost count on it.

We have guys that make great plays but no one sticks out as somebody you’re looking for. Dallas has that number 11 that’s kind of what I’m talking about. Maybe Adams is our guy and unfortunately he’s on the shelf till next year.

As I have been posting all year, we need at least one maybe two offense wrecking D tackles and a Mike LB. that can tackle.

What happened to Taylor?

Also an upgrade at center and guard. Doable with our draft capitol

Just one observation about the whole season for the whole league. In general, it seems to me that the teams are maybe playing harder than usual this year? I don't really see a bad team trying to give it up and tank for a better draft position. There are games where teams get blown out but I think for the most part from game to game teams are playing hard.

Did anyone really expect the Seahawks to be a powerhouse this year?

I’m already shilling for Bijan Robinson in the 2023 draft. We need that piece to rotate with Walker if we don’t resign/can’t trust Penny for a full season. But stopping the run and running ourselves have been the determining factors in whether we win or lose all year. Not just DL but linebackers and defensive backs got run all over today too. What’s happened to Daryl Taylor?

Ken- Regarding defense, I posted last summer, that I've been saying for 3 seasons now, that the Seahawks needed to draft a high caliber DT to collapse the middle of the pocket, and to help stop the run. The raider game just put an exclamation mark on that need. The Seahawks need to draft 2 high caliber DT next Spring to take care of that DL problem. And CB M. Jackson will probably be replaced after tonite showing. Happy Holidays to you Ken

A ultra optimistic view.

Were this game in week 1, we would be pleasantly surprised that we lost on overtime to a 2021 playoff team that added Davante Adams and Chandler Jones. And, by the way, we played better than Week 1.

All for the good. Playoffs are still reachable if Shanahan chokes earlier than usual or if Washington or the Giants have more than a couple bad games. Geno had a good not great game that may have lowered his sticker price (it’s Black Friday weekend, after all) and our draft stock improved. Our rookies learned some hard lessons and Nino got the picks he was literally praying for.

I don’t think we have a defender that can drive the Right Tackle all the way past the QB and then throw the QB down for a sack like Max Crosby did late in game.

The beat us in the trenches on both sides of the ball. It's as simple as that.

There were some bizarre results this week, including the Ravens losing to the Jags, and TB losing to Cleveland (with Brisset) in OT. It is tempting for me to chalk this game up to a couple of bad plays/referree decisions that had they gone the other way would have resulted in a close win rather than a close loss, BUT...

... that run D has GOT to get fixed. The TB game it seems was not a Mone-less fluke and OC's may have found a way to attack the Seahawks personnel that exposes their inadequacies. We need to strengthen the DL and a high 1st round pick will help immeasurably. And safety... Diggs' two INTs were great BUT lost coverage and poor tackling were also big issues as noted.

I was very dissatisfied with DK's game. He is not meant to be a reliable safety valve--he is meant to be a game-wrecking WR taking the top off of the D. He can't win 50-50 balls at a rate that justifies throwing them at this point. His effort on the end zone near INT was... not what we should expect. So, maybe because his talent says he should be playing at a higher level than he is, I would definitely put DK as a 'stock down'.

It's hard to see what is up with the OL line blocking, but it is a problem. Could our two rookies be close to hitting the 'rookie wall'? The college season is just ending and the pro-grind is something they are just experiencing now. It is possible that Lucas/Cross may have more 'down' days during the last third of the season. Walker looked like he was pressing too hard and I was happy to see him taken out to give Homer and DeeJay some run.
