Seahawks' Sam Darnold relieves 'pressure' to win the big game
Seahawks beat Rams 31-27, heading to Super Bowl LX
Can the Seattle Seahawks reverse the curse of Super Bowl XL? We will find out in Super Bowl LX!
“Calm under pressure” was the name of the game as the Seahawks hung on by a thread in the fourth quarter and beat the Rams 31-27 to advance to face the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX in two weeks—and much of the credit belongs to the quarterback who is cool as the other side of the cucumber: Sam Darnold was DOMINANT, going 25-of-36 for 346 yards and 3 touchdowns.
All three touchdowns came while Darnold was UNDER PRESSURE, something that has never happened in a playoff game before according to Next Gen Stats.
The media and opposing fans called out Darnold for seeing ghosts. He didn’t call back though.
What did you think of Seattle’s win over the Rams and going to Santa Clara for the fourth Super Bowl appearance in franchise history? The Seahawks are one redemption win against the Patriots away from winning a Lombardi Trophy in Niners stadium!
I’ll post your top reactions in Monday’s Seaside Joe newsletter!
Darnold is the 15th quarterback in NFL history to throw for at least 346 yards with at least 3 touchdowns and no picks. Steve Young never did. Joe Montana never did it. Now Darnold has had one of the great conference championship starts in history.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba also joined exclusive company, catching 10 passes for 153 yards, the second most yards by a Seahawks player in a playoff game ever.
Kenneth Walker III was just as valuable as anybody, gaining 62 yards on the ground and 49 yards in the air, picking up first downs left and right and scoring the game’s first touchdown. Cooper Kupp scored a touchdown and had a huge first down catch on Seattle’s last drive to secure the win over his former team.

Yes, I meant to write Super Bowl XL. Yes, I realize that the Patriots were in a different Super Bowl. Yes I take responsibility if that was confusing.
